India's odi captain has some luck for sure though he did not perform well as an indvidual but as a captain he has guided his team to victory. In yesterday's match he really looked very cool even under pressure.

Funny how this IPL tournament has buried for good the invincibility and indispensable tag of Dravid,Ganguly,Laxman and even Sachin. This ofcourse is true in the ODI context. But Raina,Badrinath could even be challenging the oldies fot Test places. So the IPL for all the circus it has been may do Indian cricket good.

These four players have been very CUNNING. they avoided participation in all the doemstic competitions, like Ranji, Duleep, Deodhar trophies.

So no comparison could be made with new-upcoming talents.

In IPL when they were pitted against these new players, these SENIORS ARE FULLY EXPOSED.

So IPL should be eye-opener for all, including selectors, and sponsors who get these 4 selected regularly by dubious means.

Still, many jokers here will say they were ONCE great. So what? Petrol cost Re.1/litre and gold cost Rs.100/sovereign, a few years ago. Old story is history, to say the least.

RR
by rasputin on Jun 01, 2008 08:47 AM  Permalink

So much have been said about RR.May be they were underdogs, but they have talented players.Smith,Watson are not average players and don`t forget a super star in Warne. They have some average playes with potential to be match winners on their day like Kaif,Y.Pathan,Jadeja.Tanvir has always been good with his quick bowling action. They have always been equal to any team.

Uthappa is no good. He has just put on more weight. Can't believe $850K for him for this IPL. RP Singh? Are you sure? He was plundered all over the place! Gony is a better choice and he can bat too.

Interesting line-up Ravi. Here's what I'd consider as a future India ODI team. Reserves in brackets.

1. Sehwag (Asnodkar)
2. Gambhir (Parthiv)
3. Rohit Sharma (Shikhar Dhawan)
4. Uthappa (Yusuf Pathan)
5. Yuvraj (Raina)
6. Dhoni (Wridhiman Saha)
7. Harbhajan (Chawla)
8. Ishant (Gony) --> right Hand fast
9. Sreesanth (Dinda, Munaf, YoMahesh) --->right hand fast/med-fast
10. Irfan (Nehra) --> left hand fast
11 RPSingh (Zaheer) --> left hand fast both injury prone, so can alternate

While some of these reserves proved their caliber, there are some who haven't' but they have the potential. Thanks to IPL we are now at least aware of this latent talent.

Team India should've some exciting cricketing times ahead.

I strongly suggest two changes :
1. Raina in place of over-rated Uthappa . (Even new players like Jadeja, Neeraj patel etc. are far better than Uthappa)

1. Amit Mishra in place of Ojha . Actually Mishra is best spinner we have , he is even better than Piyush.

Re;CSK has done well but...
by John Bosco on Jun 01, 2008 08:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

CSK has done well but needs to be super sharp to get past RR who constitue really the best all round team.
Vidyut cannot pull the short ball.If he cannot correct this he shd go and Mukund played. No Anirudh.
Badri shd come at 4 and Dhoni at 5 and Morkel at 6.Badri shd be given time to get in.
Murali has to get 2 or 3 wkts.
Gony has been great along with Ntini. But he shd watch his length and not overdo the short ball.Asnodkar.Kamran Akmal.Yusuf and Watson can give them a hiding if they don't hit the right length.
Balaji started well but his bowling is becoming predictable and his top speed is limited to 75 mph.He needs a faster ball and needs to get his length right in bowling yorkers.Albie Morkel has to bowl yorker length. He gets thrahed at times.Tomorrow his length shd come good.
RR batting will not be as foolish as Kings'11 and CSK has to play out of their collective skins.

Well said But take into consideration the opposition weakness. Each player shud know the task cutout for them. And there is no adequate rest between the semis and final

Justice has been done:

1)Sachin,Sourav,Dravid,Laxman teams could not able to make into semis as they are not T20 material

2)All Icon players teams have been eliminated -RR and CSK teams dont have icon players only performers

1) These four players are NOW not worthy of any form of game. They should look towards geeting into Commentary Team.

2. The finalist teams have VERY GOOD LEADERS AS CAPTAIN
