Yuvi is another failure of IPL
by sushobhan on Jun 01, 2008 10:45 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

he was purchased as icon player at very hgh price. and what did he contribute to the team. if Moody wudnt have brought Marsh and Pomersbach, then punjab wud have struggled and they were at the bottom of table below deccan

I thought his team deserved it.. ;-)

So are you saying he distributed it amongst his team mates.,. and that's the reason for CSK's success?. . .

Hmm.m.m.m. . good analysis

Poor Captaincy frm Yuvi
by raj r on Jun 01, 2008 10:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Punjab on losing side coz of poor captaincy from Yuvraj.
1. Winning the toss and electing batting first
2. Even after they lost some initial wickets, was trying for dangerous shots by himself.
3. Not giving ball to sreesanth who was consistently taking wickets in his initial spells all through out the tournament.

Yuvi has to learn lot from DHONI.

They lost continuous wickets in regular intervals so there was nothing to cheer up for Yuvi, he had to be BLANK.

Fantastic Finals
by Rameez Hasan on Jun 01, 2008 10:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Good to see both strong teams entering IPL T20 Finals.
Punjab Kings XI was simply outclassed by Dhoni's warriors. Punjab Kings XI never desrved to enter Semi-finals as theay reached so far lonely due to superb batting form by Shaun Marsh. All other players in their team didnt perform well except for bowlers like Irfan Pathan & Piyush Chawla. Sreesanth looked better after Bhajji's slap though.

Had Mumbai Indians reached the finals, it would have been more exciting.

By the way, in this Monarchy Meter of yours, do Royals figure out tops over Super Kings or is it the other way round?..

Good opening statement. Your first sentence clearly reflects your dismay at the absolute lack of competitiveness in the semifinals...

In fact most cricket fans (whether or not they support MI) were secretly wishing them to be one of the semi finalists... At least there would have been SOME competition..

Both semis have provided ZERO entertainment. The match has been decided within 25 overs in the first semi, and within 15 overs in the second.. We seriously miss the last ball antics when MI is involved...

I suspect we have seen all the excitement that IPL had to offer, once MI made their unceremonious exit

I agree , but not to fact that with MI it would have been exciting.

If u refer to the close finishes, them Mohali was equally responsible along with MI. But see what happened in semi-final.

The losing semi-finalists captains are not known for their Captainship skill or for Man-management. Same is the case with Sachin. So MI would also have lost tamely

You are right we have already seen all the excitement.

I am talking of ALL the close finishes... not just Mohali..

One of them included RR, if you remember.. ;-)
As for losing captains not being known for their Captaincy or man-management skills, I then can't understand the whole barrage of remarks I saw on this VERY forum where some (I'm not sure you included) wanted Sachin to learn captaincy from the likes of Viru and Yuvi.. :-). I distinctly remember one gentleman telling me how Sachin should have kept his cool like Yuvi.. :-). So don't know if every team is equally bad with captaincy and man-management why there was an uproar against Mumbai.
Secondly, I don't think MI would have lost as tamely as we've seen the semis..

As to the finals, we can exchange notes again on this same forum tomorrow.. ;-)

I agree with u All Right.......MI is the team among DD,CSK,KKR which always gave gr8 fright till the end....had it not been the stupidy of MI fileders is last 2 games, they would have been certainly in finals....coz if u look at there last 10 matches, 6 they have won almost by a bigger margin and the ones which they lose was only by a run/ball (main reason being stupidy of MI fielders of international level)

why all you guys are cramping about MI dint reaching the semis and having lopsided games in semis. The fact of the matter is that MI had three chances which they lost by some stupid no common sense cricket which sachin also agreed to when they lost to RR. MI had all the advantage in the world to play their league games in the end added to that most of their home games were in the end. SO THEY SIMPLY WERE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO REACH THE SEMIS

Manish:
So when did I say that MI fans are saying they should have been in the Semis?
All I am saying is that they would surely have done a much better job in the semis than the fantastic display of cricket thus far.. ;-)
That is all I am saying.
As to your statement they were not good enough to reach the semis.. Absolutely agreed..

But our loss (as cricket fans - not individual team fans) has been that we are back to seeing matches totally devoid of any form of entertainment..

I am totally with Warne. He is known to play really well even with backhands...

His cross court rallies are particularly difficult to block..

He is also lethal on the net, and equally good with his drop shots...

He is truly great both on grass as well as clay

So what better way for Dhoni and Warne to settle their differences, than on a tennis court?

Oh Ho Good One.

But I also wanted to convey that Leadership aspect has ben a big factor.

See, Hyderabad was touted as best team before commencement and they have ended at bottom.

Whereas , RR was suppposed to be weakest , but ended on top.

This enforces the theory that leadership and man-management do play significant role , as enumerated by Stephen Covey in -Seven Habbits of Highly Effective People
