Seniors in Indian Cricket
by Maheswari on Jun 04, 2008 12:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We should not forget the contribution made by Sachin, Dravid and Ganguly. Is is high time that we should not forget the contribution they have made to our Indian cricket. If there is no Sachin, we are the lost team after Bangladesh desh and Zimbabway and small small teams from abroad reccognised for test cricket. It is so unfortunate that our great Tendulkst is not available for B'desh series. Onething sachin the great should realise he is almost nearing the Ricky Ponting in most number of Centuries. Little master should have utilised this opportunity to score more outclast B'desh and Ponting. He is the only batsmen now available for playing criket after Tendulkst the great. We pray, may God bless him to recover from the recent groin injury. I think that he is avoiding to participate of numerous blood sucking comments again him. It seems, we are having the last legen in India to take ourself to the new height in cricket to place India in top of the Himalays for atleast 20 years to match him with other players of the world. We have to encourage him and to relieve him from the mental agonies created by the Indian viewers. I welcome the comments form our Rediff bloggers in this.

Hi am unable to understand what you have written. In terms of most number of centuries Sachin is obviously leading Ponting. It is Ponting who is nearing Sachin and not the way you have mentioned.

Sachin was great now age is catching up with him , Do not push him for useless milestones.

He has nothing left to prove to anybody. He should be left to decide his future. He is the greatest cricketrs of these times.

So please salute the great little master

Kapil amd Gawaskar, the Legends
by Maheswari on Jun 04, 2008 12:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There is no doubt that these players have never substitute. Gone are the days when we speak about the 1983 world Cup, it was a great irony that Blend of Tactic crucial knock done by Kapildev was not recorded and we are not having the recorded version of the great innings by Kapil Dev Nikanj. It is our sincere effort to felicidate the most legends in the history of Indian cricket. Moreover, in those days, there is no existence of so called drungs and steriods. What a knock by Kapil Dev. For that we have we have humiliated that legend of match fixing scandel continued by his verbatim angry with tears. In this regard, I wish to request the BCCi to recognise ICL so that we can have a fantastic domestic cricket with IPL and ICl barring the foreigners to participate and lose money going to the foreigners. Hats of again to the Master Blaster Kapil and Sunil.
Can we exect any improvement in our cricket by approving the ICL ?
We should not forget the past. Any good comments from the elite rediff bloggers ?

it is not kapil's to teach everybody. Jawahal would have proved himself without anybod's suggestions including Kapil Dev Nikanj. In a game of cricket, all the players are doing to ge perfom irrespective of their position. There is no wrong in Kapil not teached Jawagal

Kapil's feats
by Bald Head on Jun 04, 2008 10:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

No doubt, Kapil's 175 in WC 1983 was a fantastic and once in a life time performance.

But there are a few other feats of his which are green in my memory:

1. A test match win in early 1980's at Chennai against Pakistan (a formidable team those days while India were generally considered heroes in test matches if they could draw one or two tests!) where Kapil scored 84 runs in the India first innings and took 12 wickets in all.

2. A 2-0 test series win against England in England in 1986.

But after Kapil returned home gloriously winning 1983 world cup, politics raised its ugly head, to see Kapil ousted to make way for Sunil to "add a feather to his cap" by winning 1985 world series in Australia, basking under the glory of winning ways taught to the team by Kapil's attitude and commitment.

Kapil returned to lead India in WC 1987 in the subcontinent, but was derailed in his effort to win a second time, thanks again to dirty and murky politics, details of which I do not want to go into.

In the context of what befell Kapil, I am really not surprised by the garbage and rubbish that is being heaped on another national hero Dhoni in these columns.

Remember the joke about the Indian crab?
