I am asking/advicing srilankan board, what is the role of their fast bowlers? had they selected two more spinners either mendis and muthiah would have been given rest during bowling(need not bowling continuously)or the indian cricket team might have been bowled out for 50 in both the innings.

to both of you rr mudali and rambo yours stomach burn shows u r against tendulkar's fame. for rr mudali, first four lines statements ok. but the last one which is capitalised shows the high temperature of u r stomach.

It does appear that it is Tendulkar's prerogative to continue .
Observe, for about 2 years now, how conveniently he becomes UNFIT and then becomes FIT as per his own declaration. BCCI doesn not have guts to ask him to get clearance from Physiotherapist etc., as required by other players.
He will not retire ON HIS OWN Selectors do not have guts to DROP HIM. So there is actually no way out.

While taking note of your comments , let us not forget quite recently, the young guns went down to one man mendis in a one day final.
MY 2 PAISE: Have Dravid and Dinesh Karthick to open the innings sehwag and gambhir r good players of spin bowling and dravid and karthick can negate the lankan new ball bowlers even if malinga and dilhara come back...
Now it is the time to make changes in the team.. Dravid, saurav, laxman, kumble & sachin all the 5 seniours shold be eliminated & give the chance to young players. Anyhow india is going to lose other 2 test provided there is no rain.

and you think guys like yuvraj, or raina who could not even touch the ball in onedayers against mendis and co will be able to play them in tests.

why there r talks of removing laxman frm the team,, he is the most consistent of all the batsmen and the best by far.
Of what we have seen in the first test, it was clearly the case of lack of application by our batsmen. They were too much interested in Mendis mainia and they were done by the good old Murali. As they as " Attack is the best form of defense", the batsmen should come out of there defensive self, and try attacking the spinners. Also our spinners especially the great Bajji shld go back to the basics and shld learn few things from Murali, things like giving the ball a flight, bowling with a reduced pace, this will help him in spinning the ball. I think Bajji is taken over by the too many ODI's and T20 games and has forgot that a spinner can only get wickets if he can flight the delivery and bowl slower so that he can deceive the batsmen. I think he is just too afraid of giving away boundaries and that is wht is putting him off. Also Kumble should forget (atleast while bowling) that he is the captain of the team.
Technically sound indian batting, lost out the well orchestrated Mind game. It was surprising how great players like Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman & Ganguly could not apply their mind to grind it out. They should see Gavaskar's masterly knock of the Bangalore test where he scored 90 odd runs for a losing cause. The moral of the story is to put a price to one's wicket. Defensive tactics would not work with Murali, but then aggression should be controlled. It is a difficult job, but these are times which differentiate a champion side from laymen. Arise my dear countrymen and put up a fight. It is the lack of spine which ardent Indian fans are not able to digest, not losing. For winning and losing are part of the game.
For some time now our strength in Test cricket was young bowlers .. even in this match Ishant and Zaheer did decently .. compare to Kumble and Baji
pitch was damn good for spinners and will be like that for the series ..
prob is that we dont have quality spinner now .. its years i rem Bhaji bowling a good aggresive spell .. and evn kumble .. he is more predictable now a days
try one new spinner with one old ..
Mendis and Murali .. i really doubt India might not be able to stop them .. because next match wicket is going to be much more preff to spin than this one ...
