Dhoni sacrifised his place to satisfy Parthiv - his Chennai mate...!
that Parthiv was a pathetic player when he made his International debut. He was nothing more than a tail-ender who happened to score 10-20 runs occasionally, and a horrendous keeper. But he seem to have improved a lot by his performance in the IPL. He should be given some chances to see whether he's worth a place in International cricket or not.

Just like he was in the Australian Test series ? Against the best team in the world ?
Parthiv is a worst wicket keeper I have seen in my life. He can not collect even a straight ball. Dhoni lost IPL final only because of bad wicket keeping from Parthiv. Woh chhota sa 17 saal ka tha isiliye sabne usko sar pe chadha ke rakha hai, uski batting achchhi hui hai lekin apne paas batsmen ki koi kami nahi hai, yane uske liye team mein zaroorat nahi hai.

I have already mentioned his batting is improved but what about his wicket keeping. I understand India need a wicket keeper and not a batsman. Am I correct?

Dinesh Kartik will get chance first. He is likely to open at Gambhi's cost. Then they will play addtional bowler , a new spinner for hyd.

Had it not been for his shoddy Wicketkeeping, India would have won the Test Series against Australia in 2004. He should never have been considered for selection again.
RE:Parthiv: The Wicket Keeper
by varadraj adya on Jul 17, 2008 11:49 AM Permalink
Yes Ofcourse,
If u remember, he had dropped a catch and the batsman went on to score a very high score. The catch dropped was of Mark Waugh and was bowled by Mr.Kumble. The ball knicked the outside edge of Mark Waugh and Mr.Patel instead of staying down stood up straight. The ball rushed through his legs for a boundary.
That catch and many such shoddy instance threw him out of test squad..

Mark Waugh retired in 2002 , so I wonder who was playing when Parthiv dropped that catch
Both Dinesh and Parthiv have improved themselves, but that will not be enough to topple Dhoni. Unless Dhoni dig his own grave. They will remain as backup players. To get back into playing eleven, they have to bat exceptionally well when chances are given.
