New D/L method
by BHASKAR CHOUMAL on Jul 14, 2008 09:20 PM  Permalink

I think it is a new Duckworth Lewis method of Selection of World Eleven which gives result but leaves viewers to understand the logic.

world xi
by rajendra kulkarni on Jul 14, 2008 09:01 PM  Permalink

The only two players Saeed Anwar & Graham Gooch are good batsmen, but not great. The only criterion is best of all times and these two don't fit in it.

When it comes to tests, Dravid is one of the playing legends of the game. How can they not have him there? Bullshit list...

Tendulkar is way better than Dravid in Tests. In Tests it's not only about playing like a snail, it's also about scoring quickly and giving the bowlers enough time to knock off the 20 opposition wickets. It's a different matter when one have to save a Test match on the 5th day.

Dravid is a one-dimensional player with a strike rate od 42 in Tests. Players who play little aggressively in Test cricket are known as better players. For ex, Viv Richards is much better than Gavaskar because Viv dominated the bowling, while Gavaskar did not.

Dravid is a good Test player, never the best, or never better than Lara or Tendulkar or even Ponting.

the matches we won against australia in calcutta after a follow on and sydney were only because of dravid and laxman not certainly because of tendulkar..
We lost even a preliminary match against bangla desh in world cup with Tendulakr , which does not happen at all to any team when they have a world class player.

Why couldn't Dravid win us the match against Bangladesh ? The victory against Australia is 1 sole example. And Harbhajan took 32 wickets in that series, and it's primarily because of him we won. Test matches are won with the bowlers knocking off the 20 opposition wickets. In Calcutta Harbhajan and the bowlers did that and so we won.

Tendulkar played the role of the lone warrior in the 1999 Test series vs Australia in Australia. No one else supported him. He won the MOS award in that Test series. The only difference is that when Dravid performed he got the bowlers support, while Tendulkar got no support from both the batsmen and the bowlers.
