Re: WHY NOT SACHIN??????/

Well its very difficult to select Sachin Tendulkar (or for that matter any other modern great like Ponting, Kallis or Lara) in a all time world XI. Look at who Sachin is competing against for a middle order slot :
1. Don Bradman - unquestionably the greatest batsman ever 2. Garry Sobers - undobtedly the greatest all rounder ever (8032 runs @ 57.78 and 235 wickets in 93 tests) 3. Viv Richards - the most agressive batsman the world has ever seen (had 90 plus strike rate in limited overs cricket in 70s and 80s when 4 runs per over was considered outstanding). Also, one of the finest players of fastbowling and one of the hardest to dismiss. These 3 would easily walk into anybody's all time world XI. The only modern day great cricketer who can walk into an all time world XI is probably Kallis - that too largely because of his all round abilities

yes. but i feel he is trying for prolonging till WC 2011 by choosing and picking matches.
I think Sachin & Dravid scoreed lot in their days but failed to win matches due to our weak Bowling attack. Do you remember any 'great'(everyone was part timer) bowler of India in that era?? To win the test matches you should take 20 wickets of the opponents, dont you agree???

i remember dravid won adeleiade match in aus in 4th innings.agarkar set up the match. we chased some 250 rus. some how sachin plays well in 1st innings and 3rd innings also but don't know he is able to fire in 4th innings. he came very close against pak in chennai in 1999, but didn't finish. bowling has been perennial problem for india.

Gavaskar, Vishy and Vengsarkar were great players. Bowling was more weaker then. Vengy won a series single handedly in England in 1996.That was something first by an Indian batsman overseas
so you accept that to win the matches you require good bowling attack also. We cant win on the batting line up only. pls dont deny the contribution from these players. they played according to the conditions of their era.

i always accept to win t20, or ODI and specially tests we need a good bowling attack. but the problem is if we are weak in one area, the other area has to compensate this. we have world class batting with so many records.
these players never fired up at once. if sachin played good in one match, another players failed & when Dravid played well, anothers failed. In order to this when Laxman, Ganguly played well anothers failed.

sehwag also always scores in 1st inning of the test only..........his first inning avg is around 70 but in 2nd inning his batting is very poor

hmm..u have point. he did save the last test in aus with his 150. i think that was his only century in 4th innings. i think only dravid in our side has good 4th innings average. i we had 2-3 players with good 4th inngs average we would have won many matches, that is not the case.
sehwag's inclusion is not surprising........ test avg.around 50 his most centuries 150 plus score great hand eye co ordination effeciant aff spinner although underutilised

i have feeling if he shall complete his third triple century in subcontinent before he retires. he always scores fast and being an opener has advantage.

exactely i dont know but nearly 5000 test runs in 60 odd tests averaging around 50 which is very good for any opening batsmen.........
Saeed Anwar is absolute joke ,pkai have better player than him namely wasim akram, imran khan, hanif mohmmad, javed miadad, zaheer abbas, injamam ul haq. it is insult to all paki fans to miss this legend,as a indian i can only console with paki friends.

yeah. anwar scored mostly against Indians. moreever his test record is not very flattering.
sachin didn't win matches for india and failed when india needed him the most. so no wonder he not in list. sehwag with two triple centuries is hot fav. who knows he might a big one in lanka also. sunny is englishman's obsession for perfection and early records, so he is also there..
This mixture comprises of all time from birth to death of cricket. The separate elevens should have been picked for decades like 1951 - 1960, 1961 - 1970 and so on. An eleven of the new generation players like Mendis, Pravin Kumar, Hashim Amla should also be picked up for the decade from 2011 - 2020.
