I don't want to say much, but one is compelled to be realistic. Though I am not averse to changes, but at the same time wisdom says that you don't kill the hen that is laying the golden egg. At present Ganguly is playing well and he should have been persisted with. We as a nation should respect people who have brought us glory and Ganguly's contribution in this aspect cannot be disregarded. We also quote the actions of Australian board for being ruthless but aren't we a different nation with different cultural belief's, aren't we being taught to revere our stalwarts right from childhood. But then this is a teaching given in sane homes where parents are sensible. It sure seems that our BCCI is a body governed by people who do not seem to have such a back ground, it is a body comprising of nincompoops and such a action is not surprising from them. In the garb of various flimsy reasons they keep substantiating their actions. The least they could do is tell a person that he will not be on the selection radar from such a such series and give him the opportunity to call it quits with dignity and pride intact. People like Ganguly should have been given such a opportunity. Same should have been done with Dravid.
Logically speaking where are the real replacements. Maybe BCCI should throw some logical insight into this question.

VENG SARKAR WON LOT MATCHES FOR INDIA,IE WHY HE IS MADE CHIEF SELECTOR OF INDIA.ONE DAY GANGULY CAN BE THE CHIEF SELCTOR OF INDIA,SINCE HE HAVE WON MORE MATCHES THAN VENGSARAKR.NOW GANGULY,LAXMAN,DRAVID,SACHIN MUST GRACE FULLY RETIRE FROM ONE DAY CRICKET,TO GIVE CHANCES TO THE YOUNGSTERS,WHETHER AFTER THE RESULTS MUST BE POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE.
australia is and will no. 1 team in cricket world, this is the only team which is not dependent on any single player whether it was steve waugh or macgrath, shane warne, they have strong backup and they keep ready their backup, its only indian team which is dependent upon sachin, lets sachin retire in 2-3 years they see what happens, so leave day dreaming, and come back to india, already you are out of ODI squad.

Gandha austrelian ka najaish pyadaish bhik mangke aus tre lia ja , tu sapna dekhta nehi ka to hilata kaise hai
this is stupidity of selectors that sourav is not playing the oneday matches.Ganguly play very well but some of the BCCI person and Indian players dont want sourav becz they know that this person is very dangerous and near future he again get the crown of indian captain.

It is India's badluck that Saurav was playing the second (problematic) test as a normal player. Had he been a Captain (actually he should have been a Captain) at that time, the way he would have handled the situation (Anil Kumble a total failure)would have been worth watching. I have never seen or heard Ganguly being surrendered to the WHITE SKINNED XXXXX. As far as his ommission from ODI is concerned. The victory of Dhoni's team was nothing less than a miracle, and just by this victory if he thinks very high of himself, then I am doubtful about his cricketig future.

That's hte problem with you people, you always bring regionalism to the fore, instead of looking for the greater benefits of the country!!! WATCH CHAK DE INDIA AND SEE THE IMPORTANCE OF PUTTING NATION ABOVE REGIONAL INTERESTS, YOU FOOLS!!!

I agree with you. Please go ahead with it. These stupids who post unnecessary communal, regional and linguistic remarks are actually cowards but take shelter of internet chatting with fake names. They must be taught the lesson.

I am suprised by the timing and placement of your message. I don't think the guy up there (Keshav) said anything communal. I have seen the worst comments on rediff and its we the readers who have been reporting many of such abusive comments for removal but as a Moderator you woke up only now dude and that too for an innocent comment like the above?
Ganguly had said the same thing in 2003 when India had won ONE test in Australia after 16 years. Since then though Indian team has played well... we know how many times we have been number one. But in between the Aussies did come and conquered the final frontier in their own words.
Well Ganguly Saaab - how about walking the talk and keeping shut till we ACTUALY become number one ? No one is doubting the teams commitment or talent or the passion to win - but delivering and then yapping sounds much better instead of making the same claims everytime - please remember, "Coming close to winning" and "coming close to being No.1" doesn't make the team Number 1.
In the meantime tho - wishing you the best and please make peace with Dhoni. Unfortunate that he doesn't want you in the team for whatever reason.Guess he learnt from you - to have his own people in the team looking at the future. And can't blame him - coz with his OWN team he did become the 20-20 Champ when No one expected the team to make it.

We at the rediff team are observing an increasing trend of regional and communal hate filled posts intended to spread communal disharmony and damage the fragile secular fabric of this nation.
Hence, we have decided to report such malicious posts to the law enforcement agencies. We will also record the ip address of the perpetrators and help the local police and courts in punishing the guilty.

This is a very good thing. By this lot more constructive idea's can flow from people ...
I know ganguly is good palyer, but for one day team quick and active player should be there, one catch and saving runs of 50 beside giving run 50 and scoring 50 it is not valuable. So right decision. Ganguly and Dravid is better player for test side. No worry Ganguly keep going on and improve your weakness in fielding so you will be best option for ONE DAY TEAM OF INDIA. Best luck
