Down Under
by kulkarni mandar on Jan 06, 2008 01:32 PM  Permalink

No wonder they are called 'Down Under'.
It is nothing new for them since Alan Border
days. Now they are able to do it with the help
of neutral umpires also. Asian block should
unite and tackle this menace.

Umpires on Hire
by roopa balasubramanian on Jan 06, 2008 01:32 PM  Permalink

When we face the sort of umpires whose decisions were biased and utrocious, these umpires are taking up an silly issue like Harbachan having alleged told that Andrew Symond is a monkey. This is a serious issue for them and they are taking the help of some English Lawyer (liar!) to take part in the hearing. Firstly, let them sack these umpires and cancel the result of the test match played at Sydney. BCCI should take up this issue and ensure that the match at Sydney is cancelled and the umpires including the Third umpire are expelled for life before agreeing to continue the tour of Australia. What is wrong in calling a monkey as a monkey. If he is a gentlemen, he would have walked when he was at 33 and got out caught behind. Likewise, the socalled decisions of Dravid and Ganguly getting out in the second innings was horrible. Ponting was showing his finger up to the umpire and the umpire like a monkey was repeating the same.

India lost the match by biased umpiring
by VenkataChandraSekhar Alluri on Jan 06, 2008 01:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I would say India lost the match by biased umpiring.

The following are list of blunders:
1. Symonds not given out in First Innings.
2. Hussey not given out in Second Innings
3. Dravid given out in Second Innings
4. Ganguly given out by Ricky pointing (not by Mark Benson)

Credit to Indian Team and Specially Kumble for fighting back.

The only credit I can give to Australia team is ricky ponting decision to declare.

Otherwise it is the pitch, umpires and luck are the main players for this australia win.

Men of the match
by ravindra kp on Jan 06, 2008 01:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

instead of awarding man of the match. The men of the match should be awarded to Steve Buckmor, Benson, Symonds, Hussey & ponting.

The way the test was played by Australia & officiated by the umpires. Australia can go on winning test after test.

Rubbish! Everyone knows that umpire decisions even out at the end of the day.

And don't get me started on Decisions made in India of ALL touring sides. Think of the last Australian and Indian tours and you feel a lot better.

Get your facts checked mister. Australia had been enjoying favours from the umpires for a long time.

Ban the Umpires
by siva k on Jan 06, 2008 01:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When a player can be banned for Match Fixing, y cant an upire be banned for such a horrendous decisions. Australia consider dem most professional team, but today dey showed the true character, appealing for the catches even after dey know that was clearly not out

Umpires should not be banned at all. They have only respected their commitment. We Indian could not give them Chai-Paani, Australians did. So, hence this result.

Umpiring Decisions
by K Nagesh on Jan 06, 2008 01:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Australia does not look that professional as it used to be earlier. Right now, it looks as though every match it wins has to be scrutinsed. If they are batting umpires give the benefit of doubt to them only. If they are bowling, here also, they only are given the benefit of doubt. Quite distresssing indeed ! While umpire fixing from them cannot be ruled out, all Indians and upright cricket lovers all over the world feel extremly proud of the Indian performance in this test match. Anil Kumble, You will always be in our memory for your wonderful batting performance in the Second innings. Long live India !

Totally Bullshit game
by Gandhirajan S on Jan 06, 2008 01:30 PM  Permalink

This is not happening for first time. Australian do all this nonsense to all opponents.
How can a captain who caught the ball, grounded it on the ground and then appeal for a catch?
How can an umpire can ask a fielder whether you caught it?
How can a captain tell the umpire it's out?
Whenever there is a doubt umpire should ask third umpire. This is totally bullshit.
BCCI should file case against the umpires
The umpire should pay fine for it like the players do whenever they did mistakes.
