bucknor & benson clinch victory against India
by rakesh kumar on Jan 06, 2008 10:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I feel very sorry that ICC Umpiring panel is nothing but mockery. No one will deny that the 2nd test match at SCG between Australia & India was in actual sense being played between India and two most biased living creatures bucknor & benson. The two umpires have laid down the whole cricket fraternity and have ensured that watching test cricket is worthless and all spectators thoughout the world are fools. To quote simply, they have left a black mark in cricket history. Though, this is not first instance, that Indian cricketers have been penalized due to wrong umpiring, but this one has crossed all limits.

If players, are charged, sued for anything they do on field and off-field, why not umpires..?? If they are God and whatever they decide is ultimate..I feel the game of cricket should not be played again..it will be better to remember it in history. I don't want to say too much, because, we all know that many of highly reputed umpires have not left any stone unturned to penalize Indian cricket. I just want to appeal..that Indian cricketers, authorities, and everyone around the world who loves cricket..should oppose this in whatever way they can.and.protect the cricket world from perishing.I swear, had umpiring been fair, Sachin would have crossed 50 centuries by this time this is just an example.
I want to appeal to Bucknor, Benson, Hair, etc if they want to follow their conscience they should immediately apolozige and retire from umpiring.ICC should inquire & punish guilty

BCCI Positive attitude.
by suresh keval on Jan 06, 2008 09:40 PM  Permalink

I am glad to see atleast now we are doing what we were supposed to do long time ago. That is to lodge complaints on outrageous umpiring decisions by Bucknor. And speaking out about Australian attitude in front of Press(by Kumble).
It has been long coming... this attitude is what is called assertion. When we are not wrong and the other person is definitely wrong, then then there is no point in showing Gandhigiri. Lodge complaints in stongest possible ways without losing calm and integrity.
May be this time we will not get a satisfactory response from ICC. But we need to keep doing this whenever we are taken advantage of. Overtime they will learn to show respect.

Absolutely true. Its ridiculous is complete stupidity that catching decisions are left to be decided by the fielding teams captain.

From cricinfo.com:
"They were certain it was out, but Benson wasn't sure. He looked to Bucknor at square leg and then walked down the pitch and asked Ponting what he thought. "He caught it," Ponting seemed to say and put his finger up. Benson did the same. "

This is the worst form of umpiring. And how did ICC let this process get approved? If you are in doubt take the help of third umpire not Ponting.

We should show atleast our concern against the umpiring which said to be neutral. So called Champions of the World, now playing with 14 members. what a pity.

Come on India
by dreamrahul on Jan 06, 2008 09:19 PM  Permalink

May be it's the tough times like these that brings best out of sportsmen. I hope, after all the injustice done to them, team india will unite into a greater cricketing unit and beat Australia in the remaining two matches, even if they play with 13 players...Good luck india...

australia played with 13 players!!!
by shaheen khan on Jan 06, 2008 09:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Looking at the summary of the first and second test matches, I conclude that Australia played (or rather conspired and cheated) with not eleven but thirteen players if you include the two on-field so-called umpires. It has become clear that Australians are bad losers, cheats and play dirty mind games. The numerous bad decisions by umpires, the Bhajji-Symmonds episode, and instances of cheating by Ponting (claiming a grounded catch, not walking off the field even after nudging a nick to the wicket-keeper etc.) proves that the Australian cricket team is a cheat and undoubtedly fixed the matches with the umpires. They must have bribed the umpires to get umpiring decisions in their favour.

I have never ever seen such bad umpiring in last 30 years. I like to point out that Steve Bucknor is anti-India. He has been for the past few years consistently giving bad decisions against India in ODIs and test matches just like his colleague Darrel Hair does for Sri Lanka.

In my opinion this test match be nullified and either be abandoned or replayed. Both of the umpires be stripped of their designation and banned for life. We can certainly do without them.

The conduct of Ricky Pointing (appealing despite knowing that he is wrong in doing so, showing Ganguly the finger suggesting that he is out (he had no right to do so)) and of Symmonds (falsely accusing Bhajji of racial remarks) should be thoroughly investigated and be banned for atleast 20 ODIs and 10 test matches.
