Ohh now I get it. That idiot didnt fill his visa papers properly and so he couldnt ump the first test. If he had wed know his intentions earlier and quit the series after the 1st test itself. Man thatd save so much cost. India shouldnt play for the fans sake. If they respect Indian fans they should boycott the tour.

Steve Bucknor- Man of the Match Runner up: Mark Benson
by on Jan 06, 2008 02:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

What would it take for the ICC to be convinced that Steve Bucknor should be retired immediately.
While mistakes can happen, the alarming regularity with which he seems to make them should not be overlooked.
Apart from the fortunes and spirits of an entire nation we are also talking about the careers of individual cricketers who have struggled to appear on the test scene. They have a big price to pay for such bad decisions. What price does Steve Bucknor pay?- nothing career limiting it seems as he continues to officiate in test matches even though several complaints have been made.
Third umpires should be used for all doubtful decisions other then the height and direction of the ball which should be the only decisions that cannot be challenged.
Australia is a better side on most days and hence the number of mistakes they make are fewer. If however they are not given out when they are, then how can India ever beat Australia on any day with umpires like Steve Bucknor.
It would be better to have an Australian umpire to officiate who may make the occasional wrong call that some may interpret as a %u2018patriotic decision%u2019- then a let a bad neutral umpire loose to sully the reputation, hard work and careers of cricketers.

How could you say that Benson disagrees, his performance was better at times. This is a time when you have to award this jointly. Mistakes happen when both teams get affected, this was clearly a case of BIAS or maybe a decent chance of matchfixing.

I think more than the umpiring the ICC is involved in this, Australians run the ICC in a way and they made sure that Bucknor was here, he as been umpiring whenever India is in Australia. ICC shuould be snubbed inclusing their umpires. We do not have one India in the elite panel. ICC is nothing but wh**e trash.

Save the series now.
by rohit mishra on Jan 06, 2008 02:11 PM  Permalink

Despite of poor umpiring done we should accept the fact that we failed to capitalize on our first innings lead that a same old story for India...losing 7 wickets in a single session is horrible Dhoni and Yuvraj should be thrown out now..we have had enough of them..pitty on Kumble the old fellow had the other side of coin turning to him..even now we had neutral umpires it remains a problem..but what about the teams touring subcontinent and bowing out to most ordinary teams..when we had local umpires here (Bansal is best of the lot)..then there was no such big cry..better to come out of this nd luk forward to save the series..whats gone is gone now but we Indians always luk for excuses rather then rectifying the mistakes we make..sad for our future.

The Team india has done well even though everything was against them they pushed australia to the edge no point blaming the tail enders even they would have played gritty innings some how thanks to umpires sorry vampires great decision they result would have gone in australia favour they were playing with 14 players!!!

Don't worry about these losses! Don't let it stop you from lodging a strong complain!
by Dipen Kanabar on Jan 06, 2008 02:09 PM  Permalink

I think it is time for the Indian board to take this very strongly with appropriate authorities. I don't think Indian public would be too worried about this loss. But they would like the Board to stand up for the team, and ensure that Indians are not taken for granted! Enough of being the nice guys, always diplomatic, political in such situations! Giving up easily on this would be even worse that the test match loss itself! There will always be some very wise Indians (like Shamla Kanta below), who would give a lot of advise of, but I don't think Indians care a damn for such advisors! Just for the kill and let the world know that Indians will not take it anymore - backout from this tour, ask for a ban on these umpires, use what ever gameman ship the monkeys (or are they Kangaroos) use!! A treatment of their own medicine. Mr. Pawar, don't forget the push you got from Ricky Ponting!
