If Bucknor continues
by Crick fan on Jan 08, 2008 10:27 AM  Permalink

If Bucknor is standing in the next match India Team be prepared that you will have to take 30 Aussie wickets in the match and you will have only 12 wickets to play with.
Bucknor seems to have taught bit of his umpiring to Mark benson the other Umpire as well.

Steve Bucknor no more...
by Sudipto Ghosh on Jan 08, 2008 04:05 AM  Permalink

There are reports that umpire Bucknor was run over by a road-roller. Police reports say that Mr.Bucknor was on his daily morning walk when a road-roller coming at 10 Kmph hit him from the front. It seems that Mr.Bucknor due to his poor eyesight and hearing did not see the vehicle approaching.
Reliable ICC and Aussie cricket board sources have said that Mr.Bucknor's body would be mummified and preserved on a stand and be used for officiating all subsequent matches involving Australia. When asked about how he would actually manage to signal his decision, it was said that Ricky Ponting has kindly agreed to do it for him as Ricky has had enough practice doing so in the Sydney test.
Further news as and when it comes.

Dravid Yuvraj and Dhoni the real beneficiries here
by Raman on Jan 07, 2008 11:21 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

One decision goes against you and thats all it takes for the other team to rack up 470 runs?If that was the case what about so many umpiring cheating done in India and elsewhere? Why didn't they get the other tailenders out,by bowled or caught or even LBW,if they felt they were robbed then why didnt they walk out?why didnt they win in Melbourne or why not in Perth, trying to make the umpires the scapegoat here?
No team has the right to blame umpires until they have never been benefited by it at any point.
Indian team is just trying to play mind games and hide their incompetence

The way Dravid,Dhoni and Yuvraj have play all tour in AUS they are not going to escape due to Umpiring errors...i am sure none of you noticed this?

Raman sir!
I accept your comment. Many errors are done in umpiring due to human error. Now a days these are minimised by use of technology. Many umpires use this skills to get most out of it. This umpires, even with these kind of facilities they have not made used of it. moreover the teams have not played in a sportsman mind. here sportsman have won not the sports. These weeds have to taken out of the sports this is important to make the sports feel proud.

Dear Raman,

In Australia there had been two issues here and I believe you wouldn't want to confuse between them. First issue is the defeat and the second is the allegation of racism by Harbhajan. I will not comment on the second issue here as it will increase the size of the post.

Coming back to the first issue, I agree with your observation that Indians had not been playing well. But it still does not help us in condoning the problems with the umpiring decisions. I watched the whole match myself. In what will go down as the worst Test in history for umpiring errors, television replays repeatedly confirmed that as many as eight wrong decisions were given by the two on-field umpires. Steve Bucknor and Mark Benson, plus one by the third umpire Bruce Oxenford.

Of this total of nine blunders, one went against Australia (the lbw decision in the first innings against Ricky Ponting). Eight went against India.

Inevitably, in any match anywhere, umpiring mistakes do occur. Given the tremendous difficulty of judging lbws, bat-pads and snicks instantly, it will be a super-human umpire who will make no mistakes. But when the mistakes are as many as in Sydney, and they are so overwhelmingly in favour of one team and against another, you have to seek an explanation beyond the normal one of human error.

what a retard! Dude.. Symonds was given not out thrice when he was CLEARLY OUT.. Do u know how much a bowler works hard to get a batsman out?? It's easy to sit in ur drawing room and question.. But if u look at it practically. U'l know how we lost it.. Lost it biggg time coz of stupid umpiring decisions.. Need to BAN all these imcompetant Umpires.. Not 1 but 11 Blunders in a match is simply unacceptable..

Cricket is a game of chances. The catch of Symonds wa very obvious. From the video clops one could even hear the sound of the bat hitting the ball. This monkey buchnor was just standing there grinning. Then Symond was stumped 2 times very clearly and buchnor did not even ask for 3rd umpire. If Sachin or Laxman could get 3 chances in a crucial match even India will be victors all the time. India had them at 138 for 6 and Symonds got 3 chances. This is not just 1 decision. It is 12 decisions against India in 1 test.Any body with a common sense will realise that. About the tail enders at the end the Indian team already torally demoralized with umpire decisions and you cant blame them.

Test him while WestIndies were playing against Australia
by Prasanna on Jan 07, 2008 06:50 PM  Permalink

The ICC should test Bucknor's skill in a match between WI and Australia, let the world see whether he is really blind and deaf or pretending only against Indians.

Way to go Australia
by Andrew Symonds on Jan 07, 2008 04:47 PM  Permalink

What an emphatic win.

We brought the match out of the jaws. I think we deserved the win.

India couldn't hold on for 8 more balls? It's a pity and then everyone's going around blaming the umpires.

Sydney Test
by Suresh Sreekanta on Jan 07, 2008 01:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Aussie were playing 13 members(that is 11 Players and 2 upires) while their opponents thet is now India were only 11 this happens often when Australian's are playing any where in the world and they want always on the top of the table in cricket ratings. Aussies are not sportsmen at all. they want to win the matches at the cost of the opponents. In the case of Harbajan Singh, Symonds complained to the Match referee only because Ponting was out every time he was facing Harbajan and they dont want to face his bowling at all hence this request by the player and they want to penalize him even though he has not done any harm.

Hi friend,
Not 13.. it was 14(Third umpire)
The Bucknor and Ponting replaces the postings.
Bucknor as an Australian captain taking all decisions in favour of his team.
Ponting is the umpire to rule out between the Bucknor's side and poor Kumble's side.

Poor Umpiring

India didn't diserve to lose, but that did, that's sport sometimes. Australia can't be blamed for the mistakes of referees

Why the Australians should not be blamed man. Are they the real sports person. If it so then these things would not have happened.
- Symonds knows that he is out on 30 and 48 but continued to play, the worst part is he is thanking the umpire for the wrong decision
- Clark and Ponting unwantedly asking for a one pitch catch from ganguly, they know it clearly the ball pitch before clark
- Ponting unncessarily arguing for a catch which pitched before him and it clearly seen in the replays
- Gilchrist who pretends himself to be honest, is appealing wildly for the catch from Dravid, which the ball is miles away from dravid's bat.
