Lack of game plan
by Srinivas on Apr 23, 2008 02:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Looking at Deccan Chargers play yesterday, i felt they lacked game plan. Firstly, the opening slot of using Venugopal rao was a very bad decision. Followed by Laxman coming at 1st down was second worst decision. Why do you want to save the big hitters for the last?

They have to open with Afridi and Gilchrist. Followed by Andrew Symonds and then Rohit Sharma. Laxman should bat after Rohit Sarma.

Re look at the slot for Venugopal rao and Bangar. Both of them look like very dull batsmen. Chose one of them.

Rework on your plan and i am sure Deccan Chargers can start winning matches going forward.

Everyone other than Laxman was surprised with opening pair selection. It should have been Afridi & Gilli.

Had Afridi not given out as LBM and follwed by one catch miss..then he would have repeated Sehwag's innings

Had Afridi got the same ball as Sehwag, had he hit exactly the same shots as Sehwag, had the same pitch conditions as Sehwag, and had his partners were same as that of Sehwags, and not to mention , had he faced the same bowlers with same ball as Sehwag, he would have really repeated Sehwag's innings..

A cricket match doesnt work on the principals of "if" or "had he got this and that", but its the final results that matter....

Sanjay bangar and symonds only tried to bowl yorkers which eventually turned as full toss balls..
But i agree that he played some tremendous cricket..sadly this was against our team Hyderabad..badluck

Afridi is quite an unpredictable and unreliable batsman.. Not just in T20/IPL, but in all forms of circket.. I hope hyd rises back as they have some exceptional players (I am not from Hyd or Delhi, but still would like Hyd to hit back).. I would like to see more nail biting matches like we saw in T20 World Cup..

Make Gilly Captain

Laxman might have sacrificed by not accepting icon status...but he must also sacrifice his place in the team if deccan chargers have any dreams of a gud finish in IPL...also kick Venugopal rao out and bring in DB Raviteja as an opener...he is mighty consistent and a good hitter...and at number three send arjun yadav...that fellow is a hard hitter...he's like he hits out or gets out...laxman only wastes balls and gets out!!

Agreed completely. I probaly wondered yesterday why Deccan Chargers preferred Banger over Styris. That would have made huge diffrence. Bangar,Venugopal Rao r pathatic players for T-20 cricket & if DC wants win atleast some matches they have to find options to these crap players.

Thanx for information but then I really feel sorry for DC. If they continue with Banger, Rao etc. crap players then chances r they might finish at bottom.

Its very sad Laxman dint know the fact that every team atleast need 3 front line bowlers to win a match..
We have Vaas and RP..all are just part timers

Maan gaye boss Akki ko. Dekho na yaha bhi SRK ko competition de raha hai. The pride brand ambassador's team is now at second spot marginally short to KKR in net RR. All the best Akki I know ur team will surely beat SRK's team. This is also a lesson to the rediff who were debating between SRK & Mallya. Now say it openly Akki is a smart guy. He has not spent money & also shown SRK his strength in IPL also.

SRK and Mallya are owners of Kolkata and Bangalore teams while Akshay Kumar is just a promoter of Delhi Daredevils. He is doing what Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif are doing for Mumbai and Bangalore.
GMR group owns the Delhi team.
