Media should show all ICL matches when IPL is going on. This will fix them all up.

Dont watch IPL matches
by shashi kant on Apr 08, 2008 08:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

IPL was never created to promote cricket. It was only created because there was a genuine fear in the BCCI camp because of ICL.
IPL is now merely a new business model with cricket and cricketers being the products and services. The BCCI has shamelessly adopted autocratic ways to make as much money as possible. Just think, how can they take away the right from an ICL player to represent his country.
Allthoughits very tempting to watch your favourite stars play, I would still refrain from watching these matches. The IPL is simply taking the thrill out of cricket. Its a terrible showcase of money power. Nobody is talking of cricket here. Music Videos, Star Attractions, Cricketers prices, etc etc.. have become the order of the day.
All in all, I would say IPL truly SUCKS big time.

Shashi Kant, I totally agree with you. IPL is just business, a mockery in the name of cricket, created to due fear of ICL. IPL is club criket, as is the ICL. But when players belonging to ICL have been banned by various Boards to play even domestic cricket, why should not the players participating in IPL be banned?

And also this is our own hard money. At the end of the day this promoter are taking money from us and giving to the Player. And this Indian player (As I know ) never contribute, they put in their own business/bank.

The more they do this kind of stupidity the more the chance of failure. Power is a double edged sword. This same fan base was gloating about BCCI's power when it came to defending Bhajji and our pride in Oz, and now realises how it can be misused. I dont beleive the Oz tour was just a month or so ago, and we are already done with another sham of a test tour. There was a time when the Indian NEWS channel were always in bizness with one disaster following another, now BCCI is generating the news for these channels. Frankly by banning these websites from printing deatils of the game etc, they are infringing on an important aspect of democracy which is free speech. What next, nobodys allowed to discuss this game on rediff board? Hopefully IPL will turn into such a mess that the team gets its focus back on cricket or better still Manmohan should ask BCCI to stop calling their cricket team the Indian cricket team for sullying the country's name.

MEDIA DISCREDITION
by damodaran mohan on Apr 08, 2008 07:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is simply ridiculous. It only vindicates the general perception that BCCI is interested only in making money and not in promoting the game. It seems to be guided by narrow commercial considerations only even at the cost of CRICKET. The combined MEDIA must reject this type of micromanagement for commercial gains and against the discriminatory treatment being meted out to websites. Print media must stand united with the web world which is growing. Media in general may depict Lalit Modi as a Marketing genius and wizard however after this greedy media accredition clause induced Media aberration I wonder whether Lalit Modi is a BOON or BANE to CRICKET

Modi a genius? ECB came up with and demonstrated successsfully how 20-20 can attract the youth even in a country crazed for soccer. This is like the guy who'll steal your idea and quickly patent it. Frankly 20-20 represents nothing mroe than an aWARDS night where you get to see stars and probably get photographed with them. For me watching Tendlya for 6-20 balls is no great spectacle. Id rather take a day off of work and watch him construct a hard working 70 odd in half a days play against the worlds best bowler and get out to a spectacular effort on the field. But then again I am one of those 0.1% who does play amateur cricket and loves the game, most of the folk may not care what they get.
