Cricinfo and Rediff
by pizzaboy on Apr 08, 2008 09:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

My feeling is cricinfo and rediff can't survive if they are not covering live text commentary or scores. No one will visit the site. It will interesting to see what these online websites will do now. Will they back ICL now which they ignored for IPL till now? This is a real wakeup call for all these sites for ignoring ICL. It looks like the way ICL oranized the tournament and has given chance to young domestic players, the future is bright for ICL. IPL may be popular for now and will survive for some more time till all current senior's retire.

That is a great move by IPL , whether rediff or cricinfo covers the tourney or not , impact is very less ; to be frank people used to watch these sites only if they are in office; if you are in home you would prefer to watch it on TV

Good Point .... Rediff & Cricinfo ignored ICL ... Giving low coverage to ICL ..... Now IPL has banned these websites .... what a slap on the face of Free Press ..... The question is will the Media be united & stand up against the bullying tactics of the BCCI ????

The end of IPL
by Maheswari on Apr 08, 2008 09:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is sure that this is the end of IPL.Thanks to Modi. When all over the world fearing about the success of IPL, it is pure agony that web sites will not be allowed to to do their work. The loss is not for IPL. IPL itself making its defeat. Even if they allow, don't do any coverage of IPL. There are so many cricket in the world other than IPL. IPL's defeat will be the lesson of all arrogant match makers.guys lets support ICL, It is a challenge for media -- Will they rise to the occassion?

Thanks to Nataraja Iyer

Whether ICL or IPL,does it make good business sense ? If you see the crowds(or the lack of it) to watch ICL matches,it seems that it does not.If crowds do not throng these stadiums,it shows a lack of interest. If there is no interest, who would watch the matches on TV ? If people are not glued to the TV,who would advertise ? Over a period of time both ICL and IPL would fizzle out.

although icl n ipl both r more or less same but icl is breaking the monopoly of bcci n ipl is just another money minting mockery of ckt from bcci.
so even to keep bcci on their toes, n to give justice to the hitherto ignored cricketers of bcci, icl is required to succeed.

ICL is good...lets stick to it!
by sayan on Apr 08, 2008 09:36 PM  Permalink

I watched some ICL matches and they are pretty good... I say lets all just forget IPL and watch ICL... at the end of the day, players and organizers need fans to make money...if IPL does not want fans to follow matches on websites, etc...lets give it to them!! Down with the hype!!

So no ball to ball scores on Cricinfo!!!!
by mautan on Apr 08, 2008 09:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am so happy....having gone after PREM and Rediff for ignoring ICL and being baised towards IPL, see what happens! The IPL has shot it self and the likes of Rediff in one go. If Cricinfo does not cover the ball to ball progress of the games, the tournament is doomed. I am sure millions follow at work through Cricinfo and will not be satisfied with anything else.
Congratulations BCCI on one more stupid decision and a lesson for Rediff to support better causes like ICL then going with the arrogant crooks.
By the way are all these websites going to be begging in front of Modi? That would be a scene..or maybe a protest' Modi hame hamara hak do...down with Modi, Modi Hai Hai etc etc...
They may ultimately be granted the rights to come to the stadium by Modi, if he finally develops some sympathy for all these websites. All the best Rediff.

Mr. Modi
Dont just earn money but also contribute to the people in need. Many Indians dont get their both meals. End of the day it is public money dont just give it to the players, give it to the poor children for their education, food etc
