Indian team
by viswa nath on Apr 05, 2008 07:52 PM  Permalink

I just don't understand wyh the selectors are still sticking to oldies inspite of lavkluster performence. Common fellows inject some new faces for next match.

My potent observations about this test match!!
by John Miles on Apr 05, 2008 07:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Following are my keen observations about this test and Indian cricket in general :
1) The Indian pace bowling attack looks pedestrian in comparision to the SA bowling....we need some changes here and should think in terms of bringing back Munaf Patel or Praveen Kumar as they are accurate and can swing the ball..

2) Anil Kumble seems to be coming to the end of a glorious career...his spin wizardry seems to have left him and what we have today is just a run of the mill trundler...Cmon Anil, maybe it is time to go!!

3) IPL launches and bashes have made the players jaded and not in a sharp frame of mind...they need more time to recuperate between tests....

4) Never change a winning combo.... Lalu Rajput was a damn good coach who got us results and Kirsten was not required in the first place..

5) Some heads may roll if India lose this series and the first ones to go could be VVS and Dravid...ofcourse, i sincerely hope that the two of them get more chances but Jaffer needs to go..hopefully, Wasim has played his last test here...Call on Gambhir pls!!

6) BCCI seriously needs to look at Sachin's "injury"...is it really an injury or timeout before the IPL(Read : avoiding Steyn and company)

Out with the replies now guys...let the replies flood my post!!

Shameful defeat
by shrinath raju on Apr 05, 2008 07:50 PM  Permalink

I have always said, its high time that both Sachin and Dravid are removed fronm the team for good and a new commer is fiven a chance to groom. Apart from the two batsment Srisanth too should be kicked out as he is an utter waste. I have never seen him play good cricket but only sick attitude

hi Suneel k - Ganguly's own performance in World Cup 2003 matches which all his supporters are claiming as tall.
by sanjay on Apr 05, 2008 07:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Against major oppositions where opening partnership was spoiled by Ganguly

8 v New Zealand at Paarl
9 v Aus at Centurion
19 v Eng at Durban
0 v Pak at
48 v SL at Johannesburg
3 v NZ at Centurion
24 v Aus at Johannesburg

And now look Tiger against minnows

112 not out v Nam atPietermaritzburg
107 not out v Ken at Cape Town
111 not out v Ken at Durban
24 v Zim at Harare

Not out against minnows to swell averages but mediocre batting performance. Now go and find out why we went to Finals who scored there? Keniya went to semis as England and New Zealand surrendered matches and points as protest against Zimbabwe regime for their safety. And those were supposed to be played there in Zimbabwe

Replying to Your previous post here, hope you see this.
[[He is simply not capable of that like Dravid Laxman Sachin Sehwag who can do]], What a joke !!!
Were your STAR players not playing this match ??
I agree Sachin was not playing, but your other CAPABLE players could have saved the match. right ?
Have you seen the scoreboard ? Swhwag[17runs], Dravid[17runs], Laxman[35runs] !!! So collectively they scored 69 runs.
"69 < 87" do you agree ? Had each of them scored at least 69, the match would have been saved.
Any idea why they could not do that ?

Also should we minus the centuries Tendulkar scored against minnows in his career?
Playing organized cricket is different than International cricket. You said you left cricket for your career. May be you didn't have that confidence to make it to National Team or at least to your regional team.
Tell me how many alternate career option would earn you better than these cricket players ?
Be rational and learn to appreciate good performances.

No consistency
by Samia Baig on Apr 05, 2008 07:48 PM  Permalink

Ganguly's success exemplifies the malice in Indian cricket - a string of failures, and just when head is in the chopping block, come up with a good score so that his place is safe for the next 3 tests. Same holds true for Jaffer and to some extent VVS too. At this rate we will never try out other youngsters in the team

Indian selectors should adopt point system
by Kamal on Apr 05, 2008 07:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

With the introduction of 50-50 and recently 20-20 games in cricket, I see we get results in Test Matches of late. What I mean is the mood is set it within players to play fast cricket, irrespective of the country. So, why not our Indian Team should have a common team. They can have a score/point system for players and select players based on their performance without exception. The top 15 players, based on the point system of last 5 or 10 matches, should be selected for the team. So as 11 players for a particular match. This will give a chance to deserving players irrespective of seniors and juniors.

RE:Indian selectors should adopt point system
by Samia Baig on Apr 05, 2008 07:50 PM  Permalink
Good suggestion. Ganguly should get extra points because he belongs to WB and Somnath Chatterjee is a freind of Sharad Pawar. Also Wasim Jaffer, as he belongs to Bombay who rules BCCI

Why have you Mr Pawar and Modi ?
by Sabyasachi Sarkar on Apr 05, 2008 07:41 PM  Permalink

Why have you Mr Pawar and Modi removed our eminently successful Indian coaches? Why was Mr Lalchand Rajput ,Mr Prasad,Mr Singh and the other support staff(Indian ) never given their due value? Why? Why?Why?No offence to Gary but for God's sake Mr Pawar and Modi, blood is always thicker than water.Send our potential coaches by all means to anywhere in the world to learn the advancements and the latest finer nuances ..but at the end of the day remember it is us Indians and only we who have the answers to our problems if any.Let us for God's sake not call a "Gora" to solve our problems. This should never be a ready solution to our perceived ills. Our guys are good trust them please!!!!!!!!!!Same is case of hockey.Replace the administrators and send our potential coaches abroad to keep abreast with the latest. But again let our guys find the solution to our perceived problems. We are a great nation let us all believe in ourselves and our Indianess.

Why complain
by Nilendu Kashyap on Apr 05, 2008 07:36 PM  Permalink

We shouldn't complain . Let them play and let us pay(?) them. Those who have problem , they should not watch the game.
Decision is our's.

ganguly plays better than many of other seniors. he should have been given to bowl more.
jaffer and sehwag should go. they play only on dead wickets.
