shameless performance in the 2nd test at Ahmedabad
by prabhakarbapat on Apr 05, 2008 09:18 PM  Permalink

BCCI the rich crickting institution in India is surely doling out hugh amounts of money for consistant poor perforance in cricket. IPL, the new baby of BCCI is about to stage a T20 version of cricket from 18th of this month. I strongly feel that the pay packets should be linked with good performance and there ashould be a provision wherein the players should pay back to the IPL for every poor performance. The Indian mind set is to relax after just one good performance since they know that they don't have the return the pay packet even if they continuously perform poorly in all the following knocks. This is spoiling the game completely. Indians could never be the champions if this lop sided policy of BCCI continues.

Tendulkar injured or Steyn's pace is too hot to handle??
by John Miles on Apr 05, 2008 09:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sachin at his peak and fully fit will take Steyn apart....
But a niggle prone Sachin not at peak of his form, may be easy meat for Dale Steyn(150KMPH easily!!)...is Sachin not confident of facing Dale Steyn, now arguably the fastest bowler in world cricket??

john, kiddy steyn has just got out of his knickers.sachin has been facing bowlers like waqar, wasim, shoaib, brett lee, bond, allan donald and a host of other fast bowlers.and they all rate sachin as the best.hope, that answers your question.

Don't worry cricket fans.. Indians r never a performers on a fast green wicket, only 1 in 50 matchs they'll come out with a victory on fast pitch.. Give them a flat pitch they'll be the champions.. People say that cricket's a religion in India, but have they ever produced a bowler who can hit 150mph?

Indian cricket perfomance
by bhujanga subannachar on Apr 05, 2008 09:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Failures are stoves to success. So Team India keeps on as many times as possible so that enough stoving is achived before a gand success for which they will congradulated by one and all in the counrty and all earn few crores for this single great success. There is no distinction humiliation and honourable losswhen once a single great success is achived. When politics enters in sports, glorofication and recognization is given in propotion not comunsarating with consistant performance game is kept a side and only momentary patriotism flows in but not not true game spirits.Un till and unless our team gives up personal glory differences and tam management really manages the game as a true sports but not a pllitical game TEM INDIA CAN NEVER PERFORM CONSISTANTLY> First the earning of players should be kept in reasonable limits and too much public/ media glorification should be contained. Player should be burdened with too high praises and expectation so as to maintain their natural game.

You stink of a extreme right terror, Subbannachar. Why cant we accept collective responsponsibility? In what way our Indian born politicos Advani & Narenderji are better? Was it not during their time that the pride of India was lost? Parliament attack was a worse blot than this.
Lets's accept, that all politicians in India are equally bad. During world trade cetre attack entire USA stood up as one. During UK metro attack, no one spoke about government faillure but crticized the terror attack.
Why cant our Advani & Modi, etc etc learn from them. Dont you think left parties are behaving with more dignity? Why should Advani at 80 be so desperate to become PM? Do you call Advani Pakistan born???
Instead of blame game, let's salute our men in uniform>

Jaffer
by augustin on Apr 05, 2008 09:07 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Jaffer is not performing at all on any good pitch. He has been a total flop since the Ausi tour, but persisted with due to his so-called success on the dead pitches and India is paying price for his selection in the team.

This is injustice to other good performers. What wrong Akash Chopra has done, who has been in good nick in this season.

Even Parthiv Patel has been getting runs in opening position scoring 6 consecutive centuries agreegating more than 1500 runs against all the quality opponents like SA -A teams that also on their SA pitches. scoring against Ranji champ in Irani trophy. Parthiv can be tried purely as regular batsman bonus is he is better and improved keeper nowadays than Dhoni.

I'm not poking fun at Dravid, just highlighting his performance. I have immense respect for Dravid for his contribution towards Indian cricket. But for a graceful exit, he needs to perform in the later part of his career.

Agreed, but in the first innings except Pathan everyone folded for next to nothing!!So why blame Dravid only? Before Dravid, Jaffer and MS Dhobi need to be booted out.

Well, the important factor with MSD is that he have age on his side. Thus a young player is always a wise investment. BCCI would never sack Dhoni simply because they consider him to be the future captain for a long time. Secondly, he is emerging as the 2nd most popular youth icon after Tendulkar. He is one big cash cow for BCCI.

True Rajarshi. Jaffer and Dhobi needs a big kick. Both are heroes of the dead pitches. Only difference between them is one is over hyped and the other is silently keeping his keeping his place in the team for unknown reasons.

I wish we had a Geoff Boycott or a Pankaj Roy whi could bat for 3 days for a draw. Dravid, The Wall seems to have fallen.

Important stats
by Dire Straits on Apr 05, 2008 09:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I'm not ridiculing Dravid. But he have truly been a burden on the team since the DLF Cup in September 2006. He have hardly won any games during this period. Look at the way he have performed -

Performance since September 2006-

Tests - Ave = 34.55
ODI's - Ave = 33.80

Add to that 1 Test century against Bangladesh during this period. He really needs to start performing if he wants to retian his place even in the Test team.

Dravid's downfall actually began in October 2004 series against Australia when Kasprowicz and Gillespie repeatedly got him cheaply...

He needs to score some important knocks if he has to retain his place in team...same for VVS too!
Only saving grace was Ganguly....

Well, even then Dravid was consistent till September 2006. But after that, he suddenly went downhill. It's been disgraceful for him to perform the way he have been since September 2006.

Dravid was always a mental case. If Ganguly came played at No. 3, he would have score 12000 runs by now and won many more matches for India. For almost a decade, he has been playing with the tail.

Reduce/ban playing tests in INDIA
by Raghunath R on Apr 05, 2008 09:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am not saying this because we lost test match. To derive pleasure of team winning we have to wait in most cases five days. That is lot of waste human working hours, money for the people like India. Anyway! Most of us will not appreciate good innings of batsmen or good spell from a bowler. We only care for win of our team then for that why we have to wait FIVE DAYS??.
