Include Parthiv Patel
by augustin on Apr 05, 2008 09:26 PM  Permalink

instead Jaffer in opening position who has been scoring runs heavily. Even Chopra is a better bet than Jaffer.

Parthiv Patel has been getting runs in opening position scoring 6 consecutive centuries agreegating more than 1500 runs against all the quality opponents like SA -A teams that also on their SA pitches. scoring against Ranji champ in Irani trophy. Parthiv can be tried purely as regular batsman bonus is he is better and improved keeper nowadays than Dhoni.

Read lots of posts which are questioning the inclsuion of Jaffer...guys, don't rack your brain too much..it is clear that he has a big jack!! Maybe Vengy pushing him and Ravi and Gava backing Bombay boy Jaffer?? We never know what politics happens behind closed doors..

Chopra and aGambhir surely more deserving....

Johnny Bhai, Mazak karta hai. Jaffer was discarded during DollarMiya time when he was Chairman of BCCI and Jaffer was performing good that time but DOllARMIYA was playing North and East Zone aliance. Now its Jaffer time. THis is simple equation.

Test match cricket
by Jeet on Apr 05, 2008 09:25 PM  Permalink

I never followed this game except on Rediff. I never watched it on TV. I noticed the pictures in the newspapers and the stands behind the players were all empty. Now with this kind of one sided display cricket will soon cease to be a craze and the players can kiss their fat endorsements goodbye. Serve them right. Sad. Not one player could give Irfan company in either of the TWO innings.

India deserves this loss
by Suhas K on Apr 05, 2008 09:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Guys, see where BCCI officials and all cricketers are busy. Nobody cares about Indian cricket, all are busy looking towards IPL event. Then why someone should expect win? Even Tendulkar is taking rest so that he doesn't miss IPL, because IPL is where he will make more money. If all these so called great ppl become greedy, who should play for win. There are all bulshit. You guys should start boycotting cricket by BCCI if u want quality cricket. These are all monay making things, no real cricket there.

Mr Suhas, I think it's a fashion to bash SRT. I think he insisted on playing although imo he wasn't fully fit in the 1st test, he should have rested. What you are talking is absolutely baseless. I suggest you follow Cricket more closely and make yourself more aware of the facts.

south african bowlers are far superior
by ganguly dada on Apr 05, 2008 09:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

the sa bowling attack is much better than the indians.there bowlers hit the deck hard.i haven't seen such hostile fast bowling for a long time.at times dale steyn was bowling six short pitched balls for over and that too at searing pace and extraordinary bounce.the support bowling was also great.they were bowling at an average speed of 145km per hour throughout the day.compared to them indian bowlers averaged around the 130 mark which is military medium for the sa batsmen who have been having nets against bowlers like steyn and ntini.therefore, the preparation of a wicket which was seaming around for three days was a folly.we should prepare result oriented wickets assisting spin bowling which is the indian strength.if we keep preparing such seaming wickets at home, india will keep losing.in the last 5 years india has performed well abroad.but at home, for some odd reason or the other, our team has been getting seaming wickets or batting paradises which assist neither pace nor spin.

A champion team should be able to perform in whatever pitch they're given.. Do not blame the pitch guys, it's our poor batting & bowling that has let us down... I wish even in the next match they should be given a fast pitch..

Good post, however I think we should have these kind of wkts once in a while for a reality check. I think in a 3 test series we should have a fast wkt, a spinning wkt and a batting wkt. For domestic tournaments, however we should have wkts like Ahmedabad for at least 75% of the matches. This will help our batsmen improve their technique against fast bowlers and encourage our fast bowlers.

good observation bro, but, whenever a touring team plays it first match, the wicket should assist the indians.then later in the series we can have fast wickets when we are not in danger of losing the series.and, that way our batsmen could be tested as well.

True. Altho, in this match umpiring was atrocious and smacks of racism. Kallis, ABD were out 3-4 time before finally leaving the pitch. In Indian innings, Sehwag and Ganguly got bad decisions. This turned the match into farce and really no sheen in the victory. Cannot play 11 vs 13.

yup, sehwag was out.guys, the funny thing abt that is that sehwag got out lbw to a bowler who has abt 17 lbw dismissals out of the 350 odd wickets he has taken because of run up and bowling action.the aussies play ntini best.they stretch forward and always get outside the line of the ball even if they are hit on the pads.so,they hardly get lbw to ntini.if you are getting out lbw to ntini, you are not doing your homework.

well, this is a timepass post and should be treated as such. SA has exposed major chinks in our 'STRONG' batting line up and we should accept it and work towards improving it.

Why Wasting Time
by VIJAYARAGHAVAN SRINIVASAN on Apr 05, 2008 09:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Country men in one days its win or loss but in Test matches there is an easy chance that is draw for that if we win the toss we have to elect field first that simple logic does not known for the BCCI and Team India they are just worried about AD revenue and make money other than real game so hear after spend the time with some use for yourselves dont waste time to be frank i stopped viewing matches for the past 10 years. Those are days when Kapil Dev and his teak that fought in the pitches for the sake of nation and got world cup for us.

Kick out Jaffer !!
by Rohit Dasan Maroli on Apr 05, 2008 09:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I dont know why jaffer was persisted despite scoring 18 runs in 6 test innings in Australia. Again see his scores in both innings...hardly 28 runs in both innings..out of last 9 innings jaffers scored a pathetic 85 runs...and yet he is persisted ??? He just cannot play good quality teams and good bowlers...He may be a ranji king where the ball doesnt bounce more than ankle level and the maximum pace of deliveries is 132 kmp !! And have u ever seen him motivating any india bowler on field !! never...he always has a i care a damn look on his face...and tat is too demoralising for a team !! On a pitch where 19 Wickets have been taken by pacers Indian pacers have taken just 2 wickets !! there in lies the difference .....Its high time people like sreesanth are given a kick on his butt...he is just hype,a senseless cricketer who thinks higly about himself...See his record an economy of 5.6 in odis and average of 30 in Odis and a bad record in tests too !! Mark my words he is another Agarkar in the making !! Agarkar atleast was a modest cricketer compared to this idiot !!

Jaffer is a hero of flat pitches. He somehow scores decent runs on the batting paradise pitch and stays in the team on the basis of that score and flops on the lively pitches.

Such players need to b kicked out even if they score tons of runs on dead pitches.

Average of Dravid and Ganguly.???????????????????
by Mac on Apr 05, 2008 09:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dire Straits(ID) just pointed out that the average of Rahul Dravid has dropped below 55 itis 54.92 since the DLF cup in Sep.2006, Just for ur king information, do u know the average of both Rahul David against South Africa who will be the No.1 Test Team after this Series.?????????????????

Rahul Dravid Averages 36.00 Against proteas, and Saurav Ganguly Averages a mere 26.00 against proteas. That Goes to show who is averaging what, Rahul averaging 54.92 is Actually is fantastic in Test Matches, his Career Avg is Around 55.00, How Much Difference is There.?????????????????????

If u have to Remove Rahul Dravid then U Got to remove Ganguly as well, U Cannot Be biased Against a Single Player.Rahul Dravid is Still The Best Test Batsman in the Indian Team, Better than Saurav Ganguly, After The Gr8 Sachin Tendulkar.???????????????????

Mac, u r as dumb as ur hero Dravid. Avgs matter little. Dravid scored a slow 100 in Chennai in the process killing India's chance to win there. Ganguly, like rest of the team, sacrificed his wicket to make up for the damage done by dravid and get india to a winning position. India won in J'burg in 2006 for Ganguly's innings. So shove ur stats up Dravid's as-s.

Now Ur Counting Strike Rate in Test Matches U Dumbo, Test Matches are Played for 5 Days Not for one Day.????????????

If Ur Theory is Right then Other Than Sehwag All Batsman in Indian team Are Useless, What is the Strike Rate of ganguly 50.00, The Strike Rate of Rahul Dravid will Be 40.00, Is there Any Gr8 Difference There and U Say Only Rahul Plays Slowly.???????????

As per ur Theory Only Sehwag Should Play Test Cricket, Remaining Player's Should go to Some Theerth yatra.???????????????????
