just 1 question.
by ben hur on Apr 03, 2008 07:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

just 1 question.
do v need batsman like jaffer who r fit for only dead pitches, do v need him just bcoz he scores once on the batting paradise n cement his place in the team n gets exposed batting technique like a hole in the mint like in ausi tour matches.

just ignore jaffer n not merely him but all such players.

even if he scores 400 runs on dead wkts like kanpur (as per the experts, kanpur wkt is the one of dead wkts like recent chennai wkt),

just remove him. v need good players who can play on any kind of pitches.

Yes, Jaffer generally makes merry on dead pitches. He is being given long enough ride now so that he can't complain later.

But the problem is, India has been looking for good openers since Sunil Gavaskar's days! And we haven't found one yet, who could consistently play long innings.

even akash chopra has been good n in the best form. he has the technique to perform even on ausi tracks. v ignore them. in fact, even parthiv patel has been good in the opening position n he also has the record of performing against the best bolrs even in ausi conditions.

foolish capt n team management
by ben hur on Apr 03, 2008 07:34 PM  Permalink

earlier kumble in public was quoted in favour of sporting wkt. n the wkt at the ground was beautiful and sporting and the best in the recent times.
only thing, privately in the background kumble was angry with curator for making such wkt. if he was sure of grass on the wkt, y he didnot ask sa to bat first after winning the toss. rubbish. what is the curator's fault, if ind team cant complete even 20 ovrs thats 1 and half hour of the morning session.

Well done curator Prasanna
by Mahesh on Apr 03, 2008 07:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Prasanna was so eager to produce a result that he made a pitch with potholes.

His thinking is right too.. we should have test matches with each innings only 20 overs. Twenty20 test mathes...howzzat..

curator has prepared a very good sportive pitch. only thing is that inspite of knowing fully well, capt kumble dug his own grave by opting to bat first.
if indians cant keep their cool even for the first hour of play, whom to blame if they r bowld in 1 and half hour of play. look at the sa's approach in the game.

It's a good sporting pitch. 300 runs were scored in a day in 84 overs. If our team with inflated reputations can't bat out the first hour, then what can a curator do?

India at Motera Grounds
by appalachiaworld on Apr 03, 2008 07:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Whats wrong in men in white playing for India ? It happens in a game . they are the same players who were rated so highly till yesterday . Why we are jumping to the conclusions .Let them finish this series and then do the postmartum.Let us stand proudly with those players as we did yesterday. They have provided us entertainment with their performances. They faied in one innings of a match and there is such a hue and cry ,hy nobody shed tears when India failed to qualify for the Hockey Olympics for once in 80 years.Even they are the quality players and thas why they were selected fto play for the country. So do not jump to the conclusions suddenly but encourage them to do better next time. They are humans afterall.Even they feel the pinch when they lose like this.Come on ,three cheers for all the sportsmen ,who represent our Great Country.

Glad to note your true sportsman spirit. I guess that a lot of Indians are offended that we pay Lakhs of Rupees to Cricket players per match and Crores per year in advertising revenue. Yet these sorry persons are not able to do something to make the typical Indian forget the misery of his/her daily life. Somewhat akin to going to a movie where you pay money for three hours of entertainment and hope to see the hero triumph in the end. How could you tolerate your hero turning out to be a zero? Much as the audience would demand their money back after watching a bad movie perhaps the Indian spectators should ask for their money back when the team plays very badly. I am sure that it would serve to concentrate the mind of the players beautifully.
