No matter who runs ICL, i wont support. I want BCCI to be corrected & infrastructure developed if nothing has been done for the players good.

as long as cricket means business, ICL will remain there. After some time board will struggle to build Ranji team. Hence no way ICL will go way.

You guys have no idea at all, do u love the sport or the people playing it guys are playing in ICL also from india and people are encouraging them now, u must watch the ICL matches not for the sake of cricket but for ur clarifications that how big it is going to be in near future, last time no advertisement means no sponser this time they have plenty sponser, dont expect they acheive things in single year the same things BCCI acheived in many decades.
Hope u understand

ICL Performers
by david jude on Apr 02, 2008 03:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

What about Indian players who are performing extermely well in ICL tournaments, is BCCI going to ignore them just because they are associated with ICL. Does the NATION comes first or the body they represent.

BCCI SHOULD RECOGINISE ICL
by aniket on Apr 02, 2008 03:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I stand by Kapil Dev that ICL should be recognised by the Indian Board and the players performing well should be consider by the selection after all these players are Indians
And we all should support these players for the betterment of the sport and country as a whole

I will just ask one question, couldn't Mr.Kapil or othjer seniors of Indian Cricket do anything to better the cricket in India by staying with BCCI. How do they expect to improve cricket by tying up with a person who starts a seperate cricket league just because he didn't get telecast rights for his channel.

BCCI has more faith in white skin people than on Indians.

Inspite of having people like Amarnath, Kapil, Gavaskar, Shastri, Sandeep Patil, Madanlal and so on, they prefer individuals like Chappel (result all of us has seen in WC) and now Kirsten ( another joker).

So, rather than blaming Seniors, please understand the problem lies in BCCI.

The issue is not of Cricket telecast rights...the issue is with respect to something beyond competition, how can u deny a successful bidder who has won the bid. Next how can the nation be at the hands of some high-handed individuals who are not willing to accept that there is better talent in the country than what they are show casing.

Suggestion for Mr.Subhash Chandra
by Rahul Singh on Apr 02, 2008 03:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Like ICL, let other sports like hockey, tennis, football , etc. also be parallelly promoted by the sponsors of ICL, then I would say it would become popular body of India and the future of recognising and awarding sports talent in India would be more remarkable and fruitful.

subash chandra needs money..or else do u think he would have dared to compete against BCCI. Even if Subash agrees to the proposal, he will put the same effort as our olympic comittee etc.

Honey is where the money is...no denying. If you really want other sports to proper...organise local hockey/soccer/cycling races. Have matches like Baroda Vs. Bhopal or similar...! Or say Bangalore Vs Mangalore..!

In good stadiums and good publicity. Once local games reach a level of popularity then approach Subash. He may be able to do something to fill is coffers.

Representing India
by Ashish Kumar on Apr 02, 2008 03:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

BCCI is a private company. It is their prerogative to make a policy for selection in their team. Why do we call their team as Indian team? a team can be said to represent India only if Indian Govt. has any role/involvement in administration of the governing body. Neither BCCI not ICL can lay any claim to represent India. They are just entertainers, engaged in entertainment business. What is your opinion?

RE:Representing India
by bharadwaj v on Apr 02, 2008 03:19 PM  Permalink
Mr.Ashish, I guess ur not aware of how these bodies (like BCCI, Indian Hockey Federation, IOA etc) are run or are authorized to represent the country. These are bodies which are authorized by the world bodies which are governing these sports (like ICC, Internation Hockey Federation etc) to run these sports in respective countries, and the teams slected by these only can represent the country. The Govt will not have a say in any thing (just like the Govt couldn't do anything in removing Mr.Gill from the hockey federation). Thats the reason why these guys run the show and the teams sleected by them represent India. ICL also cannot claim its players will represent India, as they are not authorized by ICC which is the world governing head for cricket just like FIFA is for football.

So know ur fact properly before commenting on anything in pubilc forums...

Thanks for the info. In that case I think Govt. shd do some thing about it and make some legislative provisions to intervene. It appears ridiculous that some private body should usurp the right to represent a democratic country like India. Though it may appear to be wild allegation but it is just possible that match fixing scandal had the blessings of these guys who are not accountable to any public body. Besides the upholding the prestige of the country should not be left to the management of a private body.

Bhajji's DOOSRA thro Mouth
by sundar venkataraman on Apr 02, 2008 03:02 PM  Permalink

It is better Bhajjai concentrates on line, length and tragetry with a fine loop which he is blessed with than just keep giving warnings such as' JUST TWO BALLS to send back TWO Middle order bats from SA & 75 more runs and 8 wkts on day 2 of chennai test. we have seen how HAMISH , ASHWAL PRINCE AND DE VILLERS SEND BHAJJIS BOWLING PACKING .

IT IS HIGH TIME HE CONCENTRATES ON HIS BOWLING; LET HIM LEARN FROM KUMBLES[ 600 PLUS WWKTS] HOW MATURED AND COOL CUSTOMER

After reading few comments, i feel that people here know the sex of baby before it is concieved even.

Let ICL run for few more years, let IPL start it own show, let any third one join hands with either of them, ultimately it will benefit the good players. Good players are not monopoly of boards, business groups or nations. They are just players. Enjoy their game.
