it seems narendra modi's govt is not bothered about sports in his state atall. i have heard gujaratis are kanjoos. maybe that is the reason. i hope the religion issue is not there. wake up narendra modi; before it is too late. do something great, so that people will remember even after u are no longer in power.
why only modi? are not there other CMs who did not announce prizes?
though, encouraging players is good, why do it on state basis? why not club and divide equally?
there are players like gambhir who are not noticed in this cacophony.
irfan definitely deserves a pat on the back, but the article is definitely malafide.
we are singing chak de india, and forgetting at the same time what the coach made them say "bindiya nayak from india, vidya sharma from india, balbir kaur form india..."
shame on rediff and the author.
rediff is becoming a piece of junk.i am seriously thinking of moving my email address.
only boycotting will teach them a lesson.
i appeal to all to write to them saying that we shall move out of rediff.
THANK YOU GUJU CM FOR BEING AN EXAMPLE AND FOR SAVING THE TAX PAYERS' HARD EARN BUCK, PLZ DO SPEND THEM WISELY FOR THE CITIZENS WHO ARE REALLY IN THE NEED OF IT..ALL OTHER CMs SHOULD GET A CUE FROM HIM..!
For God sake dont insert religion. The author has now pinched the baby and want to see it cry. Cheap tactics from the author in publishing such article to flood the comments section with religious hatredness. Lets enjoi the win.. dont politicize the win. If u r honest with ur article then u should have mentioned that karunanidhi has not rewarded Dinesh karthik (a hindu), Punjab CM has not rewarded Yuvaraj & Harbhajan (Sikhism), West Bengal has not rewarded Gautam Gambhir, Delhi has not rewarded Sehwag (a hindu), Even Piyush Chawla, Zaheer Khan and many are not rewarded. The author has a very clear intention in his mind to envoke Muslim hatredness towards hindu by publishing such article. I saw most of the comments and found that the author has not succeeded in his intention except some rare comments which has instigation our muslim brothers. Please not encourgage such authors.

I agree entirely. The cricket team makes unbelievable amount of money & they don't need the patronage from politicians to win a match for their country. The victory was awesome and millions of tax payers enjoyed it & added to the TRP a part of which goes to the players booty. We don't need to spend on the players instead if the politicians are so keen on sports they should invest in sports infrastructure. It seems that this is the easy way out, just dole out some money & forget about the rest. As far as religion goes, some still swallow down the poison served by some politicians & is abetted by the media through reports such as these. Of course it does not help that the captain speaks utter nonsense after his team played like champions. Obviously it was a good gamble from the above mentioned politicians, out to disrupt a perfect evening. And more pathetic is the way millions swallow the same & is intoxicated to react on the same.
