Modi needs to be congratulated
by on Sep 26, 2007 02:12 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Narendra Modi seems to be the only sensible chief minister among all those who are 'rewarding' the boys in blue. Indeed, the boys deserve rewards, but for them, holding the world cup must be the highest reward itself. If anybody should reward them, it is the BCCI. I dont understand how state governments come into the picture. State govts have many other projects in which they could have utlised the money, which is now being given to these cricketers. Kudos to Modi for getting his priorities right in this hour of madness.

Also I would like to add that our team was representing INDIA and not the states, so even if the government wants to give something it should not be the state govts. but the central govt. These CM`s are supporting and creating provincial disputes in peoples minds who already keep on pointing like marathi, tamil, bihari, punjabi, kannada, bengali, gujrati etc. So can we all Generation Nexxt stand united against these abusive and nuisance creator govts and also the media who do spread these contagiuos rumours and religious discripancies in public, including rediff for such an article...
JAI HIND!!!

I am amazed to see the public support for such activities. It is great that the Indian team won the world cup, but this behaviour of the CMs is in line with the Rajas & Maharajas of the old times.

CMs are not Rajas or Maharajahs.
Whos money are they spending ?

They can gift their personal money as gift to anyone they like, but this kind of un-checked tax money spending is insane.

Indian players are NOT under-paid. The BCCI will and does compensate them well.

I am not a big fan of Modi and I am not sure what his motivations are but I do not believe that it is right for a CM to shell out TAX money when there are other genuine and more pressing needs within the state.

It is bemusing to see that so many people seemed to be hurt with this straight forward article. It is even more amusing to see so many people jumping to react emotionally. Some reader mentions that 'state the facts'. Well the article is just that. Let us not make a big deal out of it.

As a society, it is imperative to face up to realities.

Don't be a fanatic Mr.Modi. Honor the boys. They have made us proud. No need to give cash rewards, but just acknowledge their contribution.

Prasanna Zore, stop writing such meaningless articles..Cricket is not the only sports..People like you, who want so much attention to be given to just one sport,Cricket, are the one who will come up with another article during Olympics, on how badly India performed there and why India lags behind..its all because of people like you...

Prasanna Zore is a moron who doesn't know what to write, keeps speculating. Creating an issue out of nothing. Virendra Shewag, Gautam ghambir and others also haven't got a award from their state Gov, which is a non issue with this writer.

Why feclitate Ajit can as well be questioned, why waste people's money.

what do you mean Mr. Author ?
by Anil Chandra on Sep 26, 2007 02:11 PM  Permalink

Words are mightier than sword. Every writer must remember this. Probably our Rediff author want to ignite hatered using this 'mightier' weapon.
Do you think it is wise Mr. Author, when our country is reeling under weather calamities, poverty, corruption....and other ghosts, to spend crores on this 'game' cricket.

If BCCI rewards its players, it is its duty. However, the governments needn't do the same.

Hero worship is a curse to this country.

Rediff sucks....

Shame on all CMs who gifted money to Cricketers
by cp shah on Sep 26, 2007 02:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All the CMs who have gifted money have not paid a single penny from their own pockets. They are shameless buggers. Sometime ago these very cricketers provided police protection after loosing first match in the world cup. Are we crazy about cricket? And why should BCCI also declared bonuses to cricketers are they god gifted? Board too is nowadays in the hands of politicians. They only think in terms of money. Indian people are just wasting their money, time and energy after 15 fools
