This is not jounalism but idiotic Regionalism propogated by Rediff. What has been done for Sreesanth? Karthik ? Bhajji?? You cant have these kind of comparisons... Please dont stoop so low... Next will be Mayawati scooping out special favours for SC/ST players...MP & MLAs doling out public money to already filthy rich cricketers.... Rediff, Please let cricket remain a game.. Shame on rediff Because.. 1. You are propogating communalism. 2. Its self appointed journalists like these who are shifting public opinion in favour of Media regulatory authority. 3. Its taxpayers money & not the CMs personal money which they are distributing. 4. These crickters are already filthy rich. This money should be given to more desrving purposes. 5. And this is just the BCCI Cricket team. 6. Pathan has already been fecilitated by the Gujrat state govt. few months back. Hence its a biased article.
Why SHould Cricketrs be over paid. Every action Mr. Modi takes is always scrutinised only in terms of religion by narrow minded people such as Mr. Prasanna Zore. Indian cricters are very well fed. If at all the money should go, it should go to some worthy causes such as building schools, water, industries, infrastructure and roads.
More immportantly when Indian cricket board has already announced a $2 Million bonus I fail to understand why should the govt spent public money on a team which has already been showereed with so many gifts from Cricket boards to the Corporates.
On the contrary, I reckon other Chief Ministers should take a cue from Mr. Modi and also from the Chief Minister of Kerala and stop indulging in popularist announcements. These Congress Chief Ministers do not do any work and would always want to ride the popularist wave. That's all they do is make a popularist annoucement and get their pics with National heros.
I would not have complained had Chief Ministers made such donations to our poor Football team. they need our encouragement and money to prosper and take nation to new heights.
It is ridiculous how some media person only looks every govt decision in terms of religion. Atleast have the coursey to mention that Gujrat is the most prosperpous Indian state and Mr. Modi who has been appreciated abroad for Gujrat's progress gets his due share of credit as much as he gets a bad name for his failure to control the riots in 2002
Grow up Man! Dont add politics in everything, what happened if Modi is not giving any thing to player, any how players get more than enough; Its better if instead of giving money to players, spend money on development. So, Mr. Zore.....plizzz....dont publish such kind of cheap column!!
Prasanna Zore wrote like a child telling his dad that his friend's dad didn''t give the other guy a gift. Shame on Rediff for publishing such rubbish. No chief minister has any rights to announce cash awards to our cricketers. They do not need these peanuts. Let the CMs repair at least a KM of a road or get a few street kids to school with that money. Our victorious team needs our affection and show of support and admiration. They are getting their money from the concerned bodies and endourments. If Modi aanounces crores for Irfan, that will not make him a lover of Muslims. By the same logic, if he doen't that would not prove otherwise. If you want publicity better go and do something else than publish such meaningless and provoking articles. What a shame!

I am amazed to see the public support for such activities. It is great that the Indian team won the world cup, but this behaviour of the CMs is in line with the Rajas & Maharajas of the old times.
CMs are not Rajas or Maharajahs. Whos money are they spending ?
They can gift their personal money as gift to anyone they like, but this kind of un-checked tax money spending is insane.
Indian players are NOT under-paid. The BCCI will and does compensate them well.
I am not a big fan of Modi and I am not sure what his motivations are but I do not believe that it is right for a CM to shell out TAX money when there are other genuine and more pressing needs within the state.
I think Modi is wise not giving any money from the state funds. All these Netas are anouncing big prizes for the players but did anyone of them gave a single penny from his pocket? Its very easy to get pulicity on public money. Definitely team has achieved a great thing but one should not forget that they are being very well compensated for it by BCCI and sponsors. It'd be worth if the same kind of money was given to our poor Hockey player after winning the Asia Cup.

I agree with you. The only intention of the journalist is to sensationalize just for the heck of it. There is nothing more about it. Why they did not say any thing about TN who have not announced anything for Kaarthick?????
Does Mr Prasanna Zore think we are all bunch of Retards ? Just because its fashionable by the "progressive" media to browbeat Modi on any goddamn issue, does he think he can do so on this one too ?
I think trying to introduce a communal angle to this is absolutely pathetic and reflects on the author's intellectual bankruptcy. There are a trillion ways the 5 lakh rupees can be put to good use rather than wasting it on a bunch of overpaid cricketers. Go find some other bakra Mr Prasanna, and while you are at it, improve your writing skills !
Wish all these useless netas could spare some thought and cash for the flood victims of Orissa, Bihar, Assam and other states, instead of showering money on these useless fellas.
The guy who wrote this article is sick and betrays his hatred towards Modi ! He is so sick that he sees Irfan and Yusuf first as Muslims, then Cricketers and then Indians, probably in that order.
