IT IS BECAUSE OF DRAVID WE COULD SEE INDIA WIN. I THINK.HE DID A WISE DECISION NOT ONLY BY OPTING OUT OF TWENTY TWENTY BUT ALSO MADE GANGULY AND SACHIN TO OPT OUT

amazing stuff Saurav never cared for records... ha..ha...ha....read following.

Ganguly%u2019s own performance in World Cup 2003 matches which all his supporters are claiming as tall.

Against major oppositions where opening partnership was spoiled by Ganguly

8 v New Zealand at Paarl
9 v Aus at Centurion
19 v Eng at Durban
0 v Pak at
48 v SL at Johannesburg
3 v NZ at Centurion
24 v Aus at Johannesburg

And now look Tiger against minnows

112 not out v Nam atPietermaritzburg
107 not out v Ken at Cape Town
111 not out v Ken at Durban
24 v Zim at Harare

Not out against minnows to swell averages but mediocre batting performance. Now go and find out why we went to Finals who scored there? Keniya went to semis as England and New Zealand surrendered matches and points as protest against Zimbabwe regime for their safety. And those were supposed to be played there in Zimbabwe.

and as England and New Zealand surrendered their matches in protest against Zim regime Kenya came to semis.

In most of those matches the bowlers won it for us and Sachin too scored most of the runs against weaker opponents only, barring Pakistan Match where Sachin Scored 98, his other 100s were against Kenya & Namibia only. Against Australia Great Sachin Scored 36 & 5 & Great Dravid scored 1 in 23 balls & 47 (that too when the match was already lost) . Please check records before posting partisan comments!

how foolish somebody can be?
36 v Aus higest in innings
50 against England second highest after Dravid 62
97 vs Sri Lanka
98 against Pak all fergotten
even low scores are within top 3 in inning under seaming day nighters...

Ganguly is worser than rookies of 20-20 like Sharma Yusuf Uthappa and Gambhir all capable of replacing him in ODI.

This is not the first major truimph since 1983
by Madhu Sudan Sarma on Sep 25, 2007 03:42 PM  Permalink

India also won the WCC Championship Down Under in 1985, which was another landmark achievement after 1983 world cup. All the then cricket playing nations participated in that championship.

Nonetheless, my hearty congrats to Dhoni & team

Dhoni's fate

Don't think of captaincy from DhONI IN THE LONG RUN..
Definitely he will be remembered always for this precious WC gift ti India.

I doubt he will not be remain in the team, as he has lost his form already..

I agree, he is not playing well. But dont say he is lost his form, because he is playing away from the sub continent in a bouncy pitches. Once he comes back to Sub continent he will again become a terror. Out sub continent we can not expect anything from him, Yuvraj is the better player and he should be captain of India. But it seems he has some attitude problem, thats why Dhoni was preferred ahead of Yuvraj, but now Yuvraj performed so well, so it is real pressure for selectors as well as Dhoni.

Any reactions from Dravid????
by Birju on Sep 25, 2007 02:44 PM  Permalink

Did any body come accross any reaction from Dravid ??????? Amazing silence !!! Though dravid's timing was superb in quitting captaincy or else he would have been automatically replaced by Dhoni and would have lost the moments of undue glory he enjoyed last week.
