Right ! These BIG three with there bing egos had a lot of negetive effect on the team and it showed. There were small groups within the team and it did not behave as a unit. The captain was not confortable and the team not performing. Just leg-pulling going on.

Just looking at this young team in the absance of the big guys said that its working as a unit and enjoying being out there. Hats off to guys like yuvraj - who took dhoni's appointment positively and performed well. I think its high time these so called "stars" are shown the door - at least from non-test teams.

Any thoughts ?

Mr. Sunny you are right partly but you just can't ignore the seniors. Different format of cricket requires special talent to play.True this young blood is a good thing to see in this 20/20 format but will they be able to cope the big games like tests and/or odi's? Yes they can be brought in one by one while seniors are around and they get some valuable advices from them too. Congrats to whole Team India and our people around the world for giving the support for India.

ya.....Which of these young guns can fire consistently in 50 over and test matches...Who has the endurance, the ability and the capability to hit test hundreds.....Cricket is not about blasting all around the park for 4 overs.....To betray greats who have more than 40,000 runs in between them deserves to be treated with the highest contempt. The so called Uthpassas and Shreeshanths cant perform consistently for 2 matches....And the less i say of the substandard Joginder the better....His balls were virtually running away from the batsman....The fact of the matter is Miswah just dropped the cup into India's lap.....But, for once luck has favoured India in the final

there are lots of differences between 20-20 & 50-50, remember great Indian trios are still in form & they are fit enough to perform atleast for 2 more years. see Aussies, Hayden Gilchrist are all senior fellows....... dnt they have flashy performances. I accept that youngsters should be given opportunities, ofcourse its must. but it should not be under the price of senior experienced INFORM players. still we can offer chances to youngsters in rotation basis.... along with the inform Indian trio...
dnt forget the knocks sachin & ganguly played in England.

At last a good captain after Sourav
by Kaushik Goswami on Sep 24, 2007 11:14 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We now have a great captain in Dhoni. It was really frustrating to see Dravid's captaincy. Now we have someone who can truly carry on the good work that was done by Sourav..

Just introduce Ganguly in the team under Dhoni's captaincy, i'm sure Dhoni will fail miserably...Dhoni led wonderfully well like Kapildev because both had support from all team members and there was no politics

Oye Vivek, think before you wright something. what happened in WC 2003. we reached finals smashing all the teams left and right. Don't you think that was under the great captaincy of Ganguly. just go back your memory line and think about the team during that time. the whole team was roaring to conquer the world and infact they almost did that. in some of the matches, it was Ganguly who took some crucial decisions. Don't forget that and give credit that he honestly deserves. Tiger is always a Tiger, even if it becomes old. Who do you think spotted your so called Dhoni. Before that Dhoni was not at all known any cricketer. It was Ganguly who spotted him and said in his statement that there is a boy waiting at the doors who is going to do wonders for Indian cricket. I don't want to talk about how many wonders he has made, but it was Ganguly who completely changed the look of Indian cricket by introducing the right talent into Indian team. He who made TEAM INDIA. long live Ganguly and long live India.........but I appreciate your views...........go on and celebrate this moment...........go on ............chak de India

Yep. You are right. It is right time for these trimurthi's to think. I feel their services are much needed for Test Format. Because you need lot of experience and class.
We can slowly rest them and give the Baton to the youngsters

Also under Dravid's captaincy, India chased 18 continuous wins and all strategy worked - again Ganguly was not there in the team at that time !!!

Dravid usurped captaincy and got a ready made good team. In course of time he detroyed it through his divisive methods leading to India's ouster from the world cup in preliminary round.

Just because Dhoni won this cup, doesnt mean Dravid or his predecessors are bad. Please cherish this moment, dont curse others. Dhoni has a long way to go. How he is going to handle the defeats? That remains to be seen. We Indians have short memory and with bad cricketing culture. If they lose next match against Aussies, public will bay for Dhoni' head. Thats not correct.

Hi Harish, don't mind. But, as you said let everyone enjoy and cherish this moment in their own style. And I think Kaushik was not completely wrong. To some extent what he said is true. Anyways, lets leave all those and say LONG LIVE INDIA AND LONG LIVE OUR EMOTIONS FOR CRICKET THAT UNITES US AND GIVES A FEELING THAT WE ALL BELONG TO ONE FAMILY, WHICH IS "THE GREAT INDIA". well said everyone, come on guys express yourself and feel proud to be an Indian. Also be ready to take whatever comes after putting all our efforts. We must thank Ganguly and Dhoni for making all of us proud by giving whatever they could. 2003 WC was almost ours, its just that in the final we lost our focus for a while and we recieved a hard punishment. Now its time for that joy, so celebrate and say CHAK DE INDIA............

This tournament has shwon how important is captains's attitude in cricket. We have won match after match in the slog overs in this tournament. We need to have a lion-hearted captain and not a soft hearted "wall".

Chak De... India
by Narendra Bhat on Sep 24, 2007 11:14 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Chak De, India. Thats a dream come true!!! India v Pakistan World Cup Final with India winning the final. I cherished India's 1983 World Cup victory as a 12 year old. The scene of Kapil Dev holding the World Cup aloft then made my then tiny chest fill with pride & joy. Today, seeing Dhoni holding aloft the World Cup evoked the same sense of deja vu & I am equally filled with pride & joy. Thanks a lot, Team India, for these double doses of World Cup & I wish that India keep on winning the World Cups of not only 20-20 but also 50 over ones & bring more pride & joy to not only me but also to billions of Indians worldwide.

In addition to 1983, we all forget the victory of B&H World Champion Series of 1985, held in Australia. there all the 7 jumbos of that time participated & India won in all the matches played. Including a final & first league with Pakistan. Apart from losing to Newzealand, this series seems to be a remainder of that 2nd great champions cup won by us.

Ahhh, yes... 1985 World Championship Cricket where Ravi Shastri won that glittering Audi. More than Audi, I remember it for K Srikkanth's flamboyant batting along with Sunil Gavaskar. I also remember a very young Azharuddin scoring 93 not out against Pakistan. Then that semi final against New Zealand. It took a great all-rounder, Kapil Dev, to break the shackles of another great all-rounder, Sir Hadlee. I remember that over from Hadlee in which Kapil smashed him for 4 fours in a single over & went on to make 50 runs off just 30 deliveries. Yes, thats a feather in India's cap too!!
