I was going through this rediff forum. Its heartening to see people njoyin the moment of victory. And why shudnt we be. Its indeed a proud moment for any Indian. But it pains when people comment on the stallwarts of Indian cricket: Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly. Cmon man, they have given a lot to the Indian team. Even more than any other Indian cricket players (barring Kapil Dev and a few others) in the past. How can we even point fingers at these guys. Just becoz India didnt win a world cup when they played. may be its their hard luck. there have been many great players England has produced but still they never won any major cup in cricket. that doesnt meant they are bad. SA has so many wonderful cricketrs, but still they cudnt lift the cup. So, plz dont point ur fingers at these stallwarts just becoz India won this torunament. I think we shud praise their decision of stayin out of this tournament so that youngsters can step in and see what these young guys have done. Besides 20-20 is entirely different from a 50-50. A Uthappa can stay for 5 overs in a 20-20 match and turn the game, but its not possible in a 50 over match. I hope u guys who keep commenting know this fact. Infact instead of pointing fingers at the 3 old guns, i think we should be happy that we have found players in this tournmanet who can slowly be a full time part of the team in future. Rohit sharma in particular. So, chill out guys. Hail Team India and lets keep njoyin this moment.

Very well said in cricket history many great players came & gone in their era their nation never won any cup but it doesnt mean they are bad many, YOu once describe a great team like ENGLAND founder of Cricket never won any world cup in cricket history but still they have hopes their players and their players have Name & fame in the world

I agree. Most people are born losers with no long term memory and so all they can do is talk crap.
We should stop one day and test match cricket. It was quite boring and most of the countries the interest in this form of game was lost.
I am definitely sure Test Match Cricket is going to die.
We should use this T20 format of game. Make some changes if required to improve it. In india we should stop the nonsense Ranji Trophy and start League Championships. There should be clubs which will sponsor player. The game should be just like European Soccer League matches. Then we will come out of this BCCI politics and will be only fun.

if u r a TRUE CRICKET lover, u will never wish for the 50 overs and test cricket to get abolished. but u dont seem to be. So u njoy yr 20-20 and let more true cricket lovers njoy all the 3 forms of cricket. man cricket is all about watching the techniques of great players and even watchin some great bowling. This is not possible in 20-20. I dont blame this format. Lets have all and let everyone njoy whichever format they like to watch.

End of the day which format gives u more fun will count. When One day format started people said the same thing.
Twenty20 also requires skills. Everybody cant hit sixes like Yuvi.
For me its which game gives me more fun and enjoiment I will watch dat.

AD With T20 the actual talent of a spostmen cant be shown out. Person who plays well on a particular day will become the hero for that day.Playign like this u can only sustain for few overs and that was what happend in these matches. So start dreaming day dreams. and no rights to comment on the 3 TRIOS

It may be your view. But I dont see the future for Test match. Definitely for me 2020 was more fun than watch a One day match whole day. If you dont have skills you cant play this form of game also . i.e y we Kept useless Agarkar out. We should improve and change the game to make it better. Not necessa. to stick to old ways.

AD, I think you should start watching baseball then, it will give instant gratification. Cricket is not like other sports and if you dont understand the importance of the longer version of the game, then you definitely lack even basic cricketing knowledge and it is not worth discussing this topic with you.
I would rather thanks the old guys who opted out of this format of game.
Indians are emotional people we worship heroes in our country. Play well once and we will fogive 100 murders done by you.
How will India get new blood unless those who play just for records and money do not get away from the career of younger generation.
Be it Hockey, Football or Cricket 50% of our team consists of players who are in mid 30's and that does not make sense unless you have an Max average age of 26-28.

u guys comment on Dravid, Ganguly and Tendulkar, but havent they justified their place in this team? do u think they r there just becoz they were once good but becoz they are playin well as well? If u dont know the answer then probably u shud stop watching cricket. Go and check the stats first and then comment

I think most people are just sentimental about the trio - Sachin, Rahul and Ganguly, like me. Nothing else. I consider them my generation and its sad to see them go without any major trophy to their names. But its all for the good, for the future of this great sport in our country!!!

Boss it seems you are more emotionally attached to this guys rather then anything else. Instead of Ganguly, Sachin and Dravid people should give chance to more deserving candidates. Mind you Sachin made his debut at 15 yrs of age, Ganguly at 19 so why not other, it might so happen that someone might turn out to be bigger player then Sachin or Ganguly. Sachin turned out to be bigger then Gavaskar and Ganguly turned out to be a better captain then Azhar.
Babu Mushai, chance nahi dega tho result kaha se milega. Jo Jita Wahi Sikandar....

congratssss indian team .. Dhoni is a good captain. i hope he will stop gambling on joginder sharma. last wicket credit doesn't go to Joginder .. it was Haq's bad shot selection .
Listen guys, unlike Indian players who are more educated, pakistan players are uneducated who cant even speak english. They are like jaat sehwag and plus Shoaib wife is from India, Hyderabad. They thought Pakistan public will feel bad as they lost out in the month of Ramazan.
RE:Why Shoaib made such statment.
by Layman on Sep 25, 2007 12:49 AM Permalink
May be the Pakis have the only bit of education from the Madrassa. This shows how they can lower themselves in the internaitonal arena. This is the perfect example how Islamic education can harm people minds.
Congragulations to Team India. They have done the whole nation proud, but 20-20 cricket is wild slogging and no technique. If these youngsters can play well in a test match, then sure Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid should be dropped. But test match and one day skills are different. In 20-20 , no skills are required and only wild hitting.

We have won, just enjoy the WIN...and stop talking all these 20-20 is diff ..Can U just be proud of this WIN...Don't forget how many countries played ..and would have died to have this Cup ..so just keep you ideas to your self ..not req at this time ..the India is touching the SKY ...
Just because Indian team won today, some people are hating senior players. It was just 20 overs match series. The results would have been different for 50 over series. I am happy our present players really played well. But in the past and in the last England tour Sachin, Sourav and Wall Dravid really did superb jobs. The seniors players have been playing since decades and are still fit. Instead of blaming someone, better to celebrate today & hope for more celebration in future!!
RE:RE:Dont hate senior players!!
by vpandita6@yahoo.com on Sep 25, 2007 12:35 AM Permalink
Let's put senior players like ( Dravid ,Sehwag Sachin , Ganguly ..) one side and Young team ( MSD, Yuraj , Rohit sharma ,Gambir ,robin ) other. Then play domestic T-20 . Iam sure seniors will loose.
Dravid is unsung hero.He has done a great favour to team by not only he himself opting out but telling the BCCI that even Sachin and Saurav too were not interested.
Remove sachin, dravid and ganguly out of the one day team ... we dont want old horses who cannot run and field. We dont want superstar attitudes in our team. Sachin comes under pressure in important matches ... dravid .. defensive thinking ... he could have enforced follow on in the 3rd test against england .. but he didnt .. and he then gives excuse that ... the whole team was consulted before that ... but he is the captain .. he should lead from front and not appear out of sorts. Ganguly .. has come out good now .. but i guess its time to have a fresh new vibrant captain who is aggressive by thinking as well as his game. One thing to notice .. was .. dhoni was very well helped by the vice captain ... yuveraj singh ... yuveraj is very smart in captaincy ... its good to have him as a vice captain.

I think, you would agree with 's dad's comments, saying, Yuvraj should be called the 2nd Bradman of cricket. I dont know why you people comment about International cricket when you dont even understand 10% of it. Just sit back & watch some big hittings at 20:20 & that is the real cricket for you people. None can fulfill the services of these fellows in question, Rahul, Sachin, Saurav, Kumble, Laxman & so.

what nonsense ! How about then an age limit as this 'young' team will get old someday ?! Young team or old team it should just perform on the field. Australia with its old team has been dominating cricket for so many years now. (until now ofcourse)
