Good decision by BCCI!
by Blaster on Sep 18, 2007 03:54 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Good decision by BCCI. Good to have a young captain. Dhoni is a friendly person unlike Yuvi. More over its time for Ganguly and Sachin to spend time with family.

If Dhoni were in Australia or South africa , he would have reserve player there.

We have not seen Dhoni s fielding yet , so I cannot assure about 12th man position.

In India he is captain.Only BCCI can do this magic.

Sachin Tendulkar
by raju on Sep 18, 2007 03:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sachin just showed how great he is. he has now a mature head on his shoulders and refused oneday captaincy thinking logically. At best, Sachin has 1 to 2 years in Cricket and he wants to play emaningless ODIs sparingly. So he would not have done well as captain. he is thinking right by playing less in ODIs. He needs to quit playing ODIs after 2008 Champions trophy i think. And i am sure he will do that. Meanwhile, its good that he is taking over as Test captaincy. Because India needs a stable and experienced person in tests that all players can look up to. This way he can score off well in Tests and captain too till end of next year when a younger player will be able to take over as captain in tests too.

India is lucky to have such mature thinking icons who are not greedy for power and know what is best for them and the country.

!! Unbelievable !!
by nitin dutt on Sep 18, 2007 03:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why cant Ganguly or Tendulkar can be bestowed upon the captain ship!! All of TOP 3 players just cant wash their hands off the responsible task. For so many years these top 3 have enjoyed confidence of selectors and common public and made crores of money. Message should have been clear, take responsibility or sit at home. Another unprofessional blow from BCCI and Team India as a whole unit.Amainzing.. I can recall Govinda song "It happend only in India"..

Yuvraj ........
by Ishwar Patel on Sep 18, 2007 03:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think, Yuvraj could have been a better choice considering his experience. This responsibility would have made him more mature as a Player and would have taken out more of his batting talent.
But we all know the brains of those running the show ...

dhoni is ok but is bcci? does it have selection policy
by samson lawrence on Sep 18, 2007 03:52 PM  Permalink

Now that BCCI has decided wait and watch.
Dhoni will do as well as others before him did for sure.
he cant do worse because they didnt do anything special.
correction - they did badly with a team that had some of the greatest contemporary palyers in the team.
head to head in batting Indians are a shade beter than ussies if you go by th e records.
in bowling india wasnt weak either. but the records dont favour anyone as special. we compare with the past captains who alwys had 3 or 4 ordinary palyers. this had come down to i or 2 in the recent past.
thats why dhoni will do well. the team will do well compared to the past. but where are the real contenders?
what a rotten system of choosing captains.
