This decision is absolutely wrong. Captain should always be a senior player; otherwise ego-clash will mar the game. Dhoni is not an experienced player to be selected as Captain. Selectors are idiots and have no sense.

Guys i thin Kaif would be a long race horse for captaincy... as he is a good fielder himslef... so i think selection board is preparing him for a long term bcoz they gave him captaincy of India A... i think he would be the best for captaincy....

Fielding alone can not make one to be in the team. What next are you guys going to ask. Someone who can run between the wickets. Maybe some running race champion. Kaif is another useless person

You are absolutly correct...kaif has leadership quality.he should be captain of indian team..
I really hope that Dhoni is successful captain. He certainly has Talent, I mean his cool and his explosion of raw power. If Dhoni goes, dravid, ganguly, tendi, they dont got too much time left and I think Dhoni will emerge as a Superstar. I think that Yousuf pathan and Piyush chawla will be huge. I think in the next 5 years India will be a much better Cricket team because all these young guys that are coming.

We have seen all young guns expecially Dinesh Karthick, Ramesh Powar, Piyush Chawla performance in England series. Our Old horse (Tendulkar and Ganguly) has given the start and that is the reason we have won the 4th,5th and 6th ODI in England. In the 7th they failed to give a good start and all our young performers are not able to save the Match. This still proves that these 2 oldies are still better than our 8 youngsters. So please choose either a young team with inexperience leader or winning team with combination of new and old with a experience leader.
Dravid is esponsible for the biggest debacle of the Indian cricket. People will never forgive him for his cowardice, wrong decisions, lack of personality, so on and so forth. Appearance of a goody goody boy is deceiving.

His captaincy record is not at all bad. I know that Ganguly supporters feel that Dravid was responsible for the removal of Ganguly from the team. The fact is that Ganguly lost his place because of poor performance for extended period. Also. I do not think Indian captain has lot of say in Team selection. The elimination of Ganguly is not very different from that of Zaheer, Pathan or Harbhajan. Also, after removal of Ganguly, we won 17 matches chasing total. Why should have Dravid replaced other performing players to bring Ganguly back?
RE:Dravid bashing will never be over
by Sudipta Ganguly on Sep 19, 2007 08:09 AM Permalink
Because he has no other options left in front of him to saveguard himself and there was a time when due to Ganguly only he was retained in the team as WK otherwise selectors are willing to kick him off from the ODI's

it doesnt matter whether its ramesh powar or sharad pawar, because both have the same level of fitness :)
On field, he has the talent. Hopefully he has the skills to navigate the Off-field politics, intrigue and the favoritism that makes the BCCI a filthy gutter.
I hope he can stay out of the clutches of the patronizing mumbai lobby.

What else can you expect from so called Indian fans or Fanatics or from the most hypocrite Indian media
Now Dada supporters will do Dhoni bashing.. I really like it..the truth is that Ganguly does not stand any chance to become captain again..Dravid did a smart thing by leaving on a winning note..
Selectors are any way are doing strange things..Dravid tried to improve fielding by bringing Raina and Kaif in ODI team but selection team itslef changed before the World Cup..they bring sometimes bring Manoj Tewari, Ishant Sharma, VRV singh, R. Bose, Rakesh Sharma some other player and then drop them without trying or staying with them.. How can a captain a future team in this situation?..

For god sake, stop talking about Raina and Kaif. We can not keep someone in the team just for their fielding. Other than fielding, they are the worst batsman.
What next are you guys going to demand. Someone who is good running between wickets so select him in the team????????

r u speakin about the same kaif that we know, do u even remember who steered us to victory at lord's chasing a daunting target of 325

For one innings you want to keep him for One hundred years or what. That was way back in 2002. Its already 2007. Do you know his average of last 20 innings.19.23.How can you select someone who has average as good as tailenders?

They are atleast good in their fielding!! Not like Dinesh Karthick who has been failing regularly in ODIs and also misfields on a regular basis!! I can understand that Kaif is probably past his prime but Raina is one of the better talents around...

Raina was injured. After his injury, he did not get to play cricket even in domestic cricket.thats the reason why he is not even in the Eleven against South africa A team. How can you bring him into national team. Even tendulkar played nearly 10 matches in England before he came into the team after injury
RE:I am happy that Dravid bashing is over :-)
by Spitting Cobra on Sep 19, 2007 06:05 AM Permalink
Ya, i agree with you that Raina gor injured and to draft him into the playing 11 against the Aussies might be too risky!! Raina and Manoj Tiwari have been unlucky cos of injury!! All i'am saying is that this team selection has certain glaring omissions!! And the selectors are being inconsistent!! Raina failed on fast bouncy tracks in SA against Pollock, Ntini and Nel and was dropped!! Karthick has failed 4 times against Broad, Anderson on much flatter wickets and has still been retained!! Also, the focus was supposedly on fielding, for the new season, then how come Powar finds a way into the team...... Also, the obvious question: Do we need two wicketkeepers really?? I personally do not think so.....

I do agree with you, Selectors have choosen 12 candidates for their merit. But still I am not convinced about Dinesh karthick being selected as a pure batsman and two spinners are more than enough(Piyush or Ramesh pawar) should have been dropped.
Selecting Dinesh karthick as a pure batsman when they are so many specalist batsman and alrounders available

How did you make the prediction that Ganguly supporters will do Dhoni bashing? For your info, Ganguly had extempted himself from captaincy.
People like you start unnecessary debate with such views...it then boils down to personal abuses hurled against one another among writers in the forum. However, I agree with your views on the selectors' whims in constituting the ODI team.
