CAPTAIN DHONI
by damodaran mohan on Sep 19, 2007 11:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

the selection committee should be congratulated for the forward looking decision. From what we have seen of him he should be a successful captain. However I feel the selectors could have done more. why select captain series wise ? just say Dhoni is captain because he can always be changed depending upon his performance. as it is it is not going to be easy for him given the tough series ahead. it only reflects the CONTROLLER freak nature of BCCI rather than the FACILITATOR nature which it should be ideally. moreover Sachin and Saurav could have been dropped or Rested and youngsters given chance in their place. anyway, better something than nothing.

Sibaprasad ur point of view is wrong Ganguly was a good captian in the past a good captian 4 present but for futer it is Dhoni or Uttappa coz Ganguly has 2 retire in another 2yrs so we should give dhoni experience of handling pressure in future. A DAY WILL COME WHERE THERE WILL BE NO GANGULY NO SACHIN AND NO DRAVID

Tendulkar is 16 Yrs
by Sudipta Ganguly on Sep 19, 2007 10:54 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Actually our BCCI wants some body to Dance on their tune that is the reason they 1st opted for Sachin and when got -ve reply then opted for Dhoni as he is very new and can dance on BCCI tune like puppet and this is the only reason they didn't approch for Ganguly as he will never dance to their (BCCI's) tune as he is a true leader.

Rediculous BCCI is saying that they need future captain (Young Blood) so Dhoni is their only choice then why did they approach Tendulkar (Do they think Tendulkar is Future having and is now 20 Yrs so he is the young Captain) First and if so then why didn't they approach Ganguly as its always a fact, let our bunch of jokers (BCCI led by monkey Sharad Paear) denied the fact Saurav is the most successful Captain India had ever got.

you elect him as a bengal chief minister since you rate him as a true leader. he has done lot of things for indian cricket so you allow him to serve as a person or political leader for your state since you feel that he is only a true leader. enjoy, nobody will enter your politics. gangu came back because of our current chiefs of bcci and selection committee.

Dont u thnk that what that coward dravid has done BCCI should throw him out. Dravid is always jealous of Tendulkar and Ganguly becoz when Dravid was the captain all the focus of everybody is on Ganguly and Tendulkar. Dravid Captain biggest disaster done by BCCI. Not able to handle any pressure and always sits on the lap of Chappel thru out his tenure as captain.

Ganguly had full support of Dalmiya. So was able to make The Team India. So as soon as Dalmiya started loosing the power Ganguly lost the captaincy. Dalmiya made Dravid captain under pressure of loosing the chair.
But when Sachin was captain, he not had any support from Dalmiya and Selectors. Madanlal the coach of India team that time confessed on News Channel that Sachin was told not to talk in selection, as the selectors wanted their zonal player to be in the team.
Kiran More supported Dravid.
Dhoni have no choice but only to listen to the selectors.

Yes u r correct my dear fried. Today there in this precarious situation of Indian Cricket, Ganguly is the only contendor, but the bluddy BCCI will not lok for his bcoz Ganguly will never dance 2 their tune.

Never my dear!Refreash your records first. Check your revised record you have only given the answer. Accept this fact that Dravid is a bluddy dancer 1st in the hand of chappel and then in the Hands of BCCI. He is never a leader

Good gamble
by Srinivasa Hosadurga on Sep 19, 2007 08:59 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dhoni as ODI captain is a good gamble by BCCI. For quite sometime, Indian ODI team was presenting a stale picture. Same old style of play and same old theories for defeat and very similar score cards!! It very much needed a fresh air and new and dynamic thinking. Whether he succeeds or not, Dhoni will infuse some new thinking, unless the senior and adament players under him have their way.

Now that Dhoni is ODI captain, it is very much necessary to make somebody not in the ODI team to be the captain of the test team. Otherwise, if Dhoni has to manage a person in ODI team who happens to be his captain in Test team, all sorts of ego clashes happen, further pulling down the team and performance. It may lead to groupism again in the team.
Given this scenario, either VVS or Kumble would be apt choice for Test captaincy. Sachin can lead test team if he quits ODIs now.

Abhijeet, wake and come to terms!! Ganguli will not be a captain again; if the roumors are to be believed, he himself opted out of captaincy during the last 2 weeks of speculation period. He was a very good captain agreed; but as Dravid said, every captain has a shelf time. It's time recognize that and move forward.

VVC or Kumble becoming test captain reduces tensions in ODI team where Dhoni doesn't have to manage his test-team captain.

FYI, a good bowler is not judged based on how many inches he turns the ball. Instead it is the number of wickets he takes. Kumble is the 3rd highest wicket taker in the world today. In the present crop only he has the mental aggression to match Aussies.

Abhijeet, SMS poll not necessarily reflects the mood of all cricket fans. If you watch 'Sa-Re-Ga-Ma' or the shows like that on TV, SMS-voting not necessarily selects the best singers. Countless number of times we have witnessed wrong choices driven by emotional factors. So, quoting NDTV poll is not the right way to back ones arguments. Ganguli's is a past golden era in Indian cricket. Just relish the memory and move on. No point on harping on past things and lose focu on the future.

Indian cricket board is full of flop players board.
If you see Dhoni's record in last three series he even does not deserve to be Indian wicket keeper but Indian cricket board moron made him captain. Isn't it funny.
