Same with Ranadeb Bose ... He even got 5 wicket in a tour match and then gutted ... Not even selected for INDIA A team ... I think rohit and ranadeb are in a band of players who are not fit for TEAM INDIA and too good to play for the INDIA A ... Interesting ???

Rightly pointed out but you should have some addition to your statement 'Rohit excluded from the team without even playing one game either in England or in 20-20'. Only the selectors, not even god, know hwo did they eveluate Rohit as a player.
dravid most succesful odi captain and his perfromance as captain recognised by icc won the cap for icc test captain team and nominted by icc test captain award. Icc nomination done by int%u2019l cricketers not by ind players media managers or dirty ind politicians.dravid had most % odi winning average and most successful odi captain. Team won 18 odi matches by chasing and under dravid team did not loose any odi series. Also historic test win in SA, series win against WI after 32 yrs that too with out ganguly and tendulakr and nowseries win in England. Dravid managed team without coach and some senior players and chief selector never supported or respected his captaincy. Media always biased to dravid captain and batsman. Dravid not only best batsman but better captain and left captaincy with winning note holding his head high. He was not cowrd or spineless as some ex crickets projected. He ws forced to resign and victim of dressing room politics. dravid played under azar, sachin, gnaguly and gave 100% for team cause performed under pressure against strong bowling attack on foreing ptiches many times. But did not get the support of his teammates statistics proved dravid did good job as captain but ditched by some of his teammates Why bcci did not appoint a coach after chappell resignation ?Why bcci changed so many vice captains in last 2 yrs?/and why chief selector always gave some crap statement in meida against dravid? Why bcci sent team without coach for such long tour?

All over the cricketing or otherwise world know about Ganguly for his ability to do chamchagiri and politics ( started with Dalmia and carried over by so called leftists ) which is never heard of in cricket elsewhere and you people expect Dravid to carry on. Dravid takes food with salt and not like the other guy

with his chamchagiri he made India the Team India...had the guts to pick proper players without regional biasness...gave back to the opponent players if there was misbehaviour...came back with bang after he was dropped(quite logical bcoz of his bad performance)...

ganguly was out of b'cuz his poor form, pathatic batting icc put ban and his godfather dalmiaylost power in bcci ganguly last yrs was pathatic as captain or batsman he survived b'cuz of dalmiay otherwise he did not deserve XII man place in team he used politician influence to get backdoor entry and backstabbed dalmiay and now dravid

Yes. Dravid managed to clean bowl a bunch of BCCI jokers and resign with his head high unless his predecessors who were thrown out from captaincy disgracefully. These are the ways of BCCI a politic body more interested in making money than cricket. Dravid was put under constant pressure by people like Vengasarkar questioning captain's decisions thro media and also never tried to patch up differences within the team especially senior members.
However BCCI needs to be congratulated for selecting young captain Dhoni which augurs well for future cricket. Also they are making right noices like rotation of players etc. Hope team in future is selected purely on merit and players who fail to meet minimum standards young or old thrown out mercilessly.

Yes Dravid resigned with his head high unlike Tendulkar and Ganguly who were kicked out for whatever reason. Now we should move on. BCCI did the right thing in making Dhoni captain. And I wish they should make him or Yuvi or somebody else like Laxam/Kumble as test captain instead of falling back on ex captains

Sanjay. Of late it has become very difficult to lead a Indian team under BCCI and selectors. I heard even Ganguly refused to lead the team. Tendulkar also refused at least ODI captaincy. This is the state of affairs of our cricket. But whatever, if Dravid can win matches for country without captaincy burden, that will be great.

Dravid is the best to win matches with his bat....It might be a hard truth but he better in that if compared to Sachin...But he is no way a captaincy material...His interview suggests that he does not like to do the job which he is not able to do perfectly....So he realized this now....

Dravid vs Ganguly as captains 1. In ODIs Dravid won 53 percent against Ganguly's 51. So Dravid is better 2. In Tests Dravid won overseas series vs WI and Eng and Pak after many long yrs, but Ganguly wins against minnows Bangla 2 time and Zimbabwe 1 time. What a feat to acheive. Still u call Ganguly gr8 and Dravid not captaincy material. Pathetic

Hey Radio, Ganguly won Pak, he drew the test series in Aust which is a dream for any other captain in India, He drew in England.....Got us to the WC Final....He was captain for a longer period than Dravid so the percentage is not that logical....Its like scoring 8/10 which is 80% and 70/100 which 70%....No doubt that Dravid features in Ganguly's win as a captain...But that is the speciality of ganguly and that is backing his players to perform & give there best...

dravid scored 2079 runs in 21 testsaverage 105.12 (29% of total runs)for team ind which won by under ganguly's leadership it is recored of single batsman contribution to single captain in game history media overy hyped ganguly success but never mention hard work dravid laxman kumble or srinath. in WC 2003 it was b'cuz sachin's batting ind reached final beating pakistan not bcuz of ganguly captaincy. ganguly took credit N always used media to build image and get attntion of public. even sahcin is not glamours or flameboyunt. ganguly toothless tiger selfish politician he is not leader he backstbber he ditched fellow benagli dalmiya. dravid not only most odi winnin ration classy test captain after winning series in WI and England only ganguly paid agents like jadeja, jha, siddu, nikil chopra sabakarim do dravid bashing saying that he is not good captain. but stat proved dravid better captain than ganguly what was success of ganguly in 1st 2 yrs or take out dravid's contributions of dravid to ganguly success then it will be worst than sachin Mrs. Suman

Also in all 21 tests won by Ganguly, it was possible only due to Dravid's world record of scoring 23 percent of the runs scored by team at an average of 102. Else Ganguly's test captaincy was a big 0.

Sanjay, 1. The test match in Australia was one by Dravid almost single handedly by scoring 270 plus in first innings and 70 plus not out in second innings when the team was crumbling. This credit should be fully given to Dravid. 2.In Pak Dravid captained 2 out of 3 test matches won-1 lost-1 and Ganguly captained 1 and won 1. So credit is 50-50. 3. 79 ODIs is a good no of ODIs to judge a captain and 2 yrs is not a short tenure considering the no of matches we play 4. Lastly the one gr8 acheivement of Ganguly in his entire captaincy is 2003 WC where we came to finals. I totally agree. But again he failed here in captaincy by giving batting to Aussies even after winning the toss and thereby loosing the chance(may be r remote one) of winning it

hey Suman are u the one who cleans the floors of Indian dressing room...How come u know that ganguly, sachin and vengi are the 3 swords.... It was bcoz of Gangs & Sachs performance that we won the 2nd test match......
After a long time the Team India Captain will have no problem within the team and definitely will get the support of the three great cricketers (DSS)or ex-captains. India will surely do well in the comming series. The selection will help India to end the Captain crisis.

RE:A myth: Ganguly is a great captain and real facts
by damodaran mohan on Sep 19, 2007 12:29 PM Permalink
i fully agree that ganguly as best captain is a myth (like Ramar Sethu ) and a media hype. the stats and figures if analysed objectively speak otherwise. moreover ganguly had the advantage of Sachin, Dravid and Laxman in peak form in his team who delivered when it mattered. the worst sufferrer in this regard was Sachin whose team was one man team--i remember people switching off the TV when Sachin would get out.
He was the best choice because 1. Tendulkar was not good as captain. Also he refused 2. Ganguly did not perform well during end of his captaincy. He will perform badly if made captain 3. We need to look forward to future cricket 4. Dhoni has shown great cricketing brains even at this young age. Many a times he played according to situations curbing his attacking instincts. 5. There is a unfounded myth that once made captain he will not perform. But captains like Smith of SA,Ponting, Fleming, etc are performing well 6. Another myth: He is too young to be captain. What about a very successful young captain Graeme Smith of SA?. So this argument is baseless. 7. Let us wait for the coming series and then judge instead of passing silly comments now 8. We must give responsibility to young hands
Only reason why people are commenting is they are jealous their Guru either Sachin or Ganguly is not made captain.

Dravid resigned with his head high with a gr8 series win in England. But your guru was disgracefully Saurav kicked out of not only captaincy but also from team due to poor performance for a long period of time
you elect him as a bengal chief minister since you rate him as a true leader. he has done lot of things for indian cricket so you allow him to serve as a person or political leader for your state since you feel that he is only a true leader. enjoy, nobody will enter your politics. gangu came back because of our current chiefs of bcci and selection committee.

Don't be idiotic and show yourself a fool...... Dhoni is in the Indian team because of only one single match.......Has he ever won a match for India??????? Search everywhere...Dhoni is never a runscorer in crucial matches.......A small example: He was out for DUCK in the two matches in Worldcup 2007 when India needed a batsman or atleast a bowler to provide a wicker stand.............. He himself cannot perform when it requires...what can he do with the helm?? Was that the case with Ganguly? He led the Indian team to the World cup final in 2003. Dhoni has to captain a series against Australia. The Australians are mentally very confident about the India series because they are playing against a team captained by one who doesn't even know the ABCD..of cricket...It is not Dhoni's fault to become a captain..It was the mistake of the higher officials...like the totally mad Pawar................etc........
