It gets worst b4 it gets better!!
by S on Sep 18, 2007 06:08 PM  Permalink

Looks like Zee TV cricket board is giving sleepless night to BCCI, at last BCCI is making some bold decisions...by axing the aged players and bringing the younger talent to the core. Thanks to ZEE & Kapil for giving the people their money's worth!

Now the one thing I read in common from all the commenst from Bongla folks is "when Ganguly took over as captain, Indian cricket was at its lowest low, with match fixing scandles just over....". Instead of just worshiping your DADA all day long and keep chewing same gum over and again, take a break and check some numbers from your Dada's captaincy time. All these seniors were at the pick of prime in their career and ready now to bow out in few years. You think players like Dravid, Sachine or Kumble needs your dada to get the best out of them? These players are not your dada, they are in the entire different class, and for that reason they are admired by the cricketing greats around the world...

And about that cool brain!! the most part of that cool brain you're talking about was belong to John Wright. All your Dada had was whatever he had hidden in his nose, that he kept picking all day long in the field...

Anyway, I am not saying Dada was bad captain atall. The point is Gangu had group of players simply playing the best at that time and that helped him notched in victories

Very good point Tandoori....it was John and players who made it, then peak (pick, according to u) form went away, in came Mr. Chappel...in came Dravid...and see what happened??

regarding d nose part, u have a good eye i must say...can make tandoori of it :) or can ask yuvraj, when we were abt to get out of WC..he was digging it hard.

Anyway am not saying u r a bad writer or u hate bongalis..the point is u need to improve ur writing a bit, and pay a lil more attention ..all d best

Dear Mr Mukharjee,

Considering the agility of your dada in field and running between wickets, he should not play. check his run rate in recent times. he will do a favour by not playing under a bihari. yes, he may like playing under a paki instead. send him there.

Stupid selections and glaring omissions!!!
by Spitting Cobra on Sep 18, 2007 06:04 PM  Permalink

The BCCI is a bunch of losers and they have proved it by selecting Dhoni as the captain!!

Sourav Ganguly is the only heavyweight guy who you need to get under the skin of the Aussies!! Remember how he got under the skin of STeve Waugh by going late for the toss on a few ocassions??

Dada could play mind games and you do need to play mind games to unsettle the Aussies....

Certain selections also raise a few eyebrows; what are Poiwar and Karthick doing in the team??

As far as i'am concerned, Ramesh Powar and Dinesh Karthick should not be in the ODI team!! Karthick failed completely, both as a fielder and as a batsman in the recent England ODIs!!

By excluding Sehwag and young Rohit Sharma, the selectors have conveyed that they are still whimsical and foolish!!

The only good thing about this team is the axing of Munaf and Agarkar, both of who don't deserve a look-in again......

But the exclusion of Rohit Sharma is an unfair one considering the fact that the youngster never got his chances recently!!

by raajesh on Sep 18, 2007 05:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why ramesh power in team? Any reason
Why Gambhir in team? Replace any all rounder
Sehwag we need he is batting little well and bowl also you are dropped him ?
Dhoni is did not have much experience well he is not technic player
Any way let%u2019s see what happening in future
better selector should concentrate in Indian fielding, and bowling and batting also.
Why not if captaincy not took Mr.sachin give to Mr.Sourav he is senior player
Still we have not good bowlers,Fielders,,,
Selector doing waste of Indians peoples times

We will see later

captaincy confusions
by siva kumar on Sep 18, 2007 05:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Indian Cricket Board and Selectors have once again proved that they are a bunch of jokers by selecting Dhoni as captain.
Dhoni, in spite of his peculiar style of batting, may be a good player, but totally not having the experience as captain. Once Ganguly is available for captaincy, putting such a huge responsibility on Dhoni"s shoulders, is utter foolishness.
That too against Australians who are very tough and aggressive team, a man of high calibre should be leading the side.
Whatever criticism may be there against Dada, nobody will disagree that, as of now he is the only credible choice.
When Cricket in India is controlled by such clowns who do not Know the difference between a foot ball and a cricket ball such things only are bound to happen..

did SA suffer when they appointed Greame Smith? We ought to take our chances and look towards building for the future--when India won 18 matches on the trot where was ganguly in the team--pls note cricket is a team game--nobody is indispensible--Dhoni needs all the support and encouragement.

This is a good desicion for future. But Dhoni need to have a long term as a captain as well as confident from selector and support from co players of team.

Tendulkar,Dravid & Ganguly should take retirement and let younger generation come up take more responsibility.

Now it is the turn of Dhoni. If you all remember well, Dhoni's place was in danger sometime back during the England's tour when Dinesh Karthik was doing well as opener. Greg Chappell has gone to the extent of mentioning that Karthick was "captain material". Things change in Indian cricket like sensex. Yuvraj was considered as the future captain of India. He failed in few matches and no one talks about him now. Same with Shewag and Irfan Pathan.

It will not be a surprise if Shewag becomes the captian for the next series.
