Dravid resignation

as long as Dravid was captain of Indian cricket team, he was showered with praise and now, as he is not in that position, brickbats galore! incredible India!

Rediff should have interviewed Dilip Vengsarkar,Chairman of Selectors instead of interviewing Mr Borde, who was selected as a stopgap arrangement. Vengsarkar was hell bent on giving captaincy to Sachin and ebverybody can clearly follow/read between the lines about what he said in his press statements regarding captaincy and Sachin.Powerful Regional Lobby and Politics is responsible for the deterioration of Indian Cricket.

Very correct.

I was a fan of Vengy when he was in Indian team, now I hate him.

Leaving aside Drivid's issue... if I am not opening one more controversial topic...
1. Why is Agarkar played again and again? Whole world knows that he is very costly bowler. His bowling never improves with age and experience. It was Kiran More earlier and now Vengy to play him in team.

2. What is the flexibility of Ramesh Pawar? Is he a fit to today's limited overs cricket?

3. Why is Gautam Gambhir preferred a ahead of Uthappa? Is it to satisfy the North lobby because Sharad Pawar was supported by anti-Dalmia lobby from North?

If these many questions are to be answered, how can we expect the players like Dravid (who do not have any God Father) to take the decisions|

Shame regional lobbying

Its Really Surprising,At 33 he says he wants to concentrate on Batting? How Long does he think he can do so.he should have shouldered the responsibilty ,and continued with captaincy played for a year or two so that an alternative youngster could be put in his place,RATHER THAN LOOKING INTO The OLDIES For Replacement Of Captaincy,Who are not at all sure of having any steam in them.

I agree fully. I feel that Dravid has acted in a most selfish manner. A captain is supposed 2 b the lst person to leave a sinking ship. Bt Dravid decided 2 dive 1st. Dat 2 when da ship ws cruising along. Along with 10dulkr & Sourav, Dravid will b around 4 barely 2-3yrs. Under Dravid's captaincy, the 3 should have shepherded the team until a new young & capable captain emerged. Dravid's action may give rise 2 a choatic situation where evrybody concntrates more on lobbying for positions rather than concentrating on the tough tours ahead. The ultimate tragedy is that all this had to happen just when the team had begun performing so well on international tours. All because "The Wall" had no stomach 4 a good fight.

Dravid's decision to quit as captain is really surprising but what if the board accepts the resignation. The honorable president of the board should have also tendered his resignation and focus on his ministry and give charge to ex cricketers who can really bring talent and keep politics away from sport We should have a system similar to Autralia where the board is run by the professionals. In India it is like the film song it " happens only in India" that the board is having a commitee where there is no single cricketer of repute and it is more politically motivated. Its really shocking that instead of giving charge to ex cricketers our politicians are on the board and selection of the team in the name of the selectors look all humbug.Example is the selection of player like Agarkar who is still in the team inspite of underperformance. Our board should have professionals so that we can become number one country in cricket rankings like Australia.

For Indian cricket to improve the following things must happen:

Selfish #1: Sunil Gavaskar must be thrown out of any form of association in Indian cricket & commentary

Selfish #2: Sachin Tendulkar, the man who cunningly scores in unwanted series and tours and that too in flat pitches and convinces his chamchas (fans) of his so called abilities should be sacked.

He cant score a century in Perth against the bowling of Lee, Clarks, Taits and Johnsons...

He is the most troublesome senior player in the team and his so called humble and modest attitude is a farce. He throws his weight around in the team and is considered as a human baggage.

Like how UPA government is facing problem with Left, Dravid faced problems with Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin is the left party of indian cricket

throw him and gavaskar out

Mr Kulkarni is not in control and seems he wants to replace Sachin as an allrounder.

He scored first hundred in England and when he
arrived at the crease, India was in daire state.
Sachin guided India to safety and if few more
overs available, He would have tried for victory.

He is talking about Sachin's centuries on Life
less pitches.

Sachin scored brilliant Hundred in Perth- Aus.
In 1996, In Soth Africa he scored 169 when India
was in a bad shape. Same thing he repeated in South Africa by scoring 155 in 2001.

He scored a brillinat 136 against Pakistan in 1999 in a lost battle which was lively pitch.

Sachin scored well made Century & Half century
in Melbourne in 2000.

In west Indies though he scored 2 hundreds, he was given out in 80's & 90's many times.

In Headingly He scored 193 on overcast day in 2002. Earlier also in 1996, he scored brilliant
177 in England in 1996.

Many more innings fetched him scores of 50 - 99
in Tests. On top of it He scored 41 Hundreds
& 82 fifties with many 80's and 90's throughout
the world.

He is not taking wickets with Muralidharan's speed & economy.

Mr Warne, Muralidhar, Lara, Mcgrath, Viv Rich,
Dravid, Ponting etc considered him as the best
player on any pitch and any adverse conditions.

So if One Mr Kulkarni is not happy, nothing happens and he should stop watching sports on any channel and he should start watching Mickie Mouse, Mr Bean etc.,

He can score at any ground under any situation and he does not need to prove himself after scoring almost 25000 International Runs. Kolkata, 1990: Not yet 17, Sourav Ganguly made his first class debut in the Ranji Trophy final against Delhi. His brother Snehashis Ganguly, a brilliant left-hander who was going through a lean phase, was dropped to accommodate Sourav. The decision made headlines, though it had nothing to do with the crisp 22 he made in the match which Bengal won.

Kolkata, 1993: Playing for Mohun Bagan against East Bengal in the P. Sen Trophy final, Sourav was heckled by the opposition while he was batting. After taking a catch to win the match, he threw the ball at the spectators who were cheering the opposition. They responded with a volley of stones and abuse. He responded in kind, though later he wrote an apology to the Cricket Association of Bengal.( now tell me what Chappel did to crowd booing India team and supporting South Africa. Was it wrong?} or the crowd which should be condemned?

Hyderabad, 1995: Playing for India A against India Seniors in the Challenger Cup, Sourav was involved in a run out with Rahul Dravid. Both of them were trying to get into the national team (they eventually made it) then. There were a few raised eyebrows at the end of the match as Dravid was batting fluently when he got out going for an easy single.

Rightly Said Nilesh,
I Strongly Agree with you. Sachin and Sunny both played for their personal records and they didnt cared about the Team's Victory. As soon as Sachin reach 35 his SRR decreses because he wants to score a 50, then as soon as he reach 75 or 80 the same thing because he wants to score a 100. So when India needs a runrate of 6 he bats at around 3 just because he dont want to play some silly shot and get out and miss his centuries. Sachin is missing his Centuries these days just because of his Karma, he played for records through out his career and didnt thought for the team's victory so he is facing these problems.

Sunny & Sachin are the Most Selfish Cricketers I have ever Seen.

On the contrary I salute Virender Sehwag who has Guts to Hit a Sixer to finish his 300 Runs.

I feel Sachin Tendulkar is the best cricketer India has ever produced and I feel sorry for Mr. Kulkarni to pass such remarks about a greatest batsman. Why don't you remember the time when he was made captain, Mohammad Azhruddin other players didnot co-operated hime and they ensured that India to loose each and every test. Almost majority of the players were non-co-operating and even working against Sachin Tendulkar. We Indian should feel proud of the kind cricket our country has produced rather than be jaleous of his skill and capability. Even during 2003 world cup when he was in superb form he was denied the balling in order to ensure that he shouldnot get player of the tournament award but finally he got it. Sachin Tendulkar got out so many times due to bad umpiring and got harrassed in his own country's team due to the jaleousy of his capabilities. Why Rahul Dravid declared the inning when Sachin Tendulkar was on 194 runs? How much more time he is going to spend to get another six runs? Hardly 5 ~ 10 mins more but Rahul Dravid declared the inning but still Sachin Tendulkar contributed for the team. We always blame him that he is playing for his own records and whenever he scoring the runs India don't win. This is a negative thinking. Can any cricketer play like this? Cricket is a game of uncertainity and no cricketer can decide when he has to play or not. So my dear friends instead of blamming others first you check about yourself and your achievements.

Nilesh why do you worry ?

Our Dada will make mincemeat of australian bowling need not worry.

He will directly look into eyes of Brett Lee Tait etc. agressively. They fear Dada. And in mean time Tendulkar Dravid Laxman Uthappa will score runs against them.

As usual bowling will get thrashed but then Ranadeb will come and beat Ponting and others. Ganguly will catch diving. Every thing will be allright. And if these Lee and Tait & company do not get disturbed by Dada's agressive postures we shall keep two cammondos around Dada so they wont show any agression towards Dada. And what for afterall the shirt is he will wave it around. If situation goes beyond control don%u2019t worry he is great leader pant is also at his disposal.

If Dada gets into trouble with Hayden or Symonds like strong men still he will use his Super intelligence. He keeps spinach like in Popeye show.in his pocket he will eat it and then zoom%u2026.. Hayden or Symonds or anybody are gone with the wind%u2026%u2026

If this thing fails plan B will come into picture. We shall call Australians at Eden Gardens and boo them. If they show finger or any thing we shall call Naxalites to do the job.

plan C We will ask all NDTV Times now cameramans specially bengali journos to edit cut those shots to inspire Indians. Still if the things fail we shall call Boria Mujumdar to Disfigure all stats and show that we have actually won against Australia.

Lets rename our national championships as the World Championships like the US. That way no ICL vs IPL problem. And we can continue abusing one another on the basis of region, caste, creed.
