If such a thing happens, not just in India, anywhere in the world, it's a shame. When the home team is at the receiving end, the paying public may get excited. But, there are ways to show that. They do give a nudge to the players fielding at the ropes. But, there is no place for racism. If it had happened in Vadodara and also in Mumbai, we need to question our humanity. The talks of racism of course, get bigger when that happens in a cricket stadium because of the reach it has. Many of you might've faced that in your daily life. Just think of those moments! All I have to say is there is no place for racism in this world!

Why all people are focussing on such a "big" word like- RACISM ! It is as simple as uncontrolled & uncivilised behaviour of some cricket fans of some countries.(be it India or Australis or England).

4-2, haven't beaten Australia in a series for almost a decade, who's the embarassment exactly?

Well said Chris! With all this jibber-jabber going on, some people need to be reminded of the score. I just hope India can put up a fight in Australia, but I suspect we're in for some boring, short test matches.

Chris and On, Australians are getting back what they actually deserve......... Around the world every body knows that they are the world champ but nobody likes them........ Because of their so called sledging on and off the field......... this time they are annoyed because the Indian Team paid back in double amount to them........ And Australians think Indian team has violated their copyright over sledging.........
Aussies BE DISCIPLINED and you will receive a disciplined crowed all around the world not only in India.........
RE:Monkeys are to be treated that way

Sledge away. Australia will dominate whether other countries sledge or not. It's the racial abuse that's the problem. As for nobody liking them, well the females of the Indian crowds have certainly taken a liking to Brett if their signs are anything to go by.

Indians are almosr of in fact the same colour as Symonds then why the hell would they racially abuse him...only whites racially abuse! I bet Mr Symonds faces more racism back home in Aussiland!...They made fun of his looks cause its so darn retarded just like him!!!! You're speaking of respect...lemme ask you how mch respect has Symonds and the "aussaays" given the Indian team....they spoke so much against them, that too in India

Lage Raho Munnbhai!! You brought up a great point!! I think you're right about Symond's situation in Aussieland..

Hey jackass...Indians made fun of Symonds' looks. Not his race.
If we had made fun of his race, then how come Lara and all the WI players who played here recently were well-received?
Aussies insult not just everyone, but their mothers, sisters, religion and history.
Here are some slogans from Aussie cricket fans-
As you said if you dont want people to thro shit at you, you need to stop doing that as well. If an Indian batsman hits a boundary, immediately abuses start flowing towards his mother and sister!
These Aussies think they can bully anyone and everyone in the world? They can if the want to but when others do the same they need to take it like men...not run behind ACB/ICC..mama mama.
Precious Princesses, these Aussies. Bloody posers! They say they are tough and this and that but all they are is meek monkeys.

Aussies are a bunch of self possessed, egoistic arrogant maniacs. Who were really very well received in mumbai and baroda. Thats the way they should be treated.
In our country calling someone a monkey may not be such a bad thing, but it certainly is demeaning and derogatory in Australia. Unfortunately no one seems to understand this, not Andrew Symonds, the Aussie players, indians, media etc. Clearly all parties are a bit confused as to what exactly is monkey chants..
what is it anyway? The Hindu God HANUMAN is a monkey right? I thought Tendulkar was the God, not Symonds?
RE:What a shame...
by JM on Oct 19, 2007 02:55 AM Permalink
Jose or Enrique or whatever your name is-- Catholic or Opus Dei or whatever cult you b elong to....
.....Symonds was called a monkey in India, not Australia. (last time I checked Wankhede stadium was in India)
When visitors come to India, they need to understand and adjust to local customs, not the other way around.
Aussies came here and and abused Harbajan's religion, then abused Indian players' parents- mother, sister etc..... ....all of this may be accepted in Australia but they didnt know it was not accepted in India?
Being a Christian, your mockery of Hindu Gods is worse than calling someone a monkey. So you better shut up!

During our last series in Aussieland, The Aussie fan abused the Indian Players as well the Indians in the stand. they were calling 'em Coolie, F*ck Gandhi, Brow*n Sh*t and throwing Chicken Wing bones at the Indian seating in the stand. I had a buddy went to see the Game at Sydney and saw all these hackling by drunk Aussies.
So called Racism in india is nothing compare to what Aussie has offered us and other teams in the past..
RE:What a shame...

You misunderstand; those Australians were trying to feed you. They were throwing chicken because it looked like you hadn't had a proper meal all your life.

Where is Australia?? ha ha. A country that born in 1900.. sorry a continent, with almost 80% barren land.
All the prisoners settled there and formed coloneys.
Mr. Andrew Symonds, You should feel shame on yourself while saying that you guys are humble when you win any match... When sreesanth's ball is hit for a boundary he stares at the batsman, But when an Indian batsman plays some good defensive shot, u come all the way from the cover/extra cover position to not only stare but say some words...
Now you tell who is uncivilised...??? The whole world will vote for you to win the most uncivilised player's position. And you are blaming the fans.. You should say sorry to all the Indian Fans. I was amongst the crowd in mumbai and I could listen they were shouting "Ganpatti Bappa Moreya"
RE:@symonds
by Munna Bhai on Oct 19, 2007 05:53 AM Permalink
Haha its funny how after every ball I see this guy having a "chat" with the batsman and that too, like you said, all the way from extra cover. How come in every match he gets into a mix up with an Indian?

no absolutly no. a lot of australia cricket fans are fed up of ponting and symonds because of there whinging.
India is not known for racist slurs against visiting foreign players. It is sad indeed. If we go around the world projecting ourselves as being tolerant and understanding, then such isolated incidents should be dealt with harshly

We are in the same Indian boat buddy. Anyways, I am a punjabi with strong Caucasian features but a few handful of people like me don't make all our people beautiful. Most of us aren't attractive and some are repulsive looks-wise but it doesn't give right to anyone to make fun of such people. Everyone needs respect irrespective of their looks.

Racism?, Indians? common yaar. We know how bad this Australians behave in field. for the best cricket we have even appriciated Pakees yaar. Australian become mad after facing Indians aggressiveness. This is nothing else but frustration.
