Nice Article!
by Manoj Joseph on Oct 10, 2007 01:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Nice article.. I hope our Indian team members will surely read this and learn something from it to improve their game accordingly.

Let them concentrate more on the game cricket than these verbal fights, which will only help to demoralise the team. Also, Australians may be good in handling such tricks to their advantage, but our culture is to give them back it in the best way, that is defeating them in as much games as possible.

Yes.. they (the aussies) wants our players to respond to their abuses verbally.. as that will distract our players from their job in hand.. This is exactly what they want.. It is more prudent not to fall prey to these games and concentrate on scoring runs / taking wickets..
If you give way to your emotions, it will be disaster for the team and the game, otherwise, it will be the best thing to do for your country..

History shows that Australians have a very bad past where their ancestors were prisoners of British rule. It might be still in their blood to use all those wrong tacts to defeat their competitors.. However, our culture is much more divine and it doesn't envisage abusing the oponents, instead defeating them in the right way.
Hope our cricket team will do that in the coming games.

Due to the financial conditions in India, there are lot of us (including me) going to other countries to gain more money. That doesn't mean that they are doing something wrong. I know most of such people live like Indians and upholding the Indian culture... There may be exceptions.. We have to ignore such cases..

ashish, there r lots of iraqis, iranians, saudis, afghanis living in US or UK to earn better.. that doesn't mean they all like US or UK.. they went there to earn money and will return to their own country when they r done with it.. thay may even move to other countries if they get better opportunities..not because they love that country or hate the other..its simple money..

Sreesanth's behaviour is very bad.. the example of Venakesh Prasad (during world cup semifinal against Pak in Bangalore in 1996) and Zaheer Khan (during the second test in the last England series) are better way to respond to such cunning tactics.

I agree completely with Gavin. There is no dearth of talent in the Indian cricket team, but all that they need is to be more professional and let themselves not get swept off their feet by the little and the sporadic success they get to make. I love our team and am proud of them. But whatever Gavin has said: whether out of chauvinism, or out of remorse, we must learn to get his words under our skin first to make the ALL TIME BEST TEAM ! Goodluck, India.

Who r u to advise about INDIAN CRICKET TEAM
by srini vasan on Oct 10, 2007 01:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I dont know about this Gavin Robertson. He may be a good and popular cricketer in Australia. BUT, HE DONT HAVE ANY RIGHTS TO COMMENT OR ADVISE ABOUT INDIAN CRICKET TEAM, how to react or how to play.
WE KNOW OURSELVES HOW TO PLAY AND SLAM AUSSIE.
If aussie player make nasty comments or show aggression on the field it is called as playing tactics. If India does the same, they say that we had misunderstood.
Pls advise the Australian team regarding this. DONT ADVISE US HOW TO BEHAVE ON THE FIELD.

Man, I used to wonder, why a focused and professional team like Australia, be so rude in field.
Now I know, even their comments, quips have a clear plan, structure and set boundries around them.
Hats off to Australia !

Agression from within

by bobby martins on Oct 10, 2007 01:43 PM
this where we as Indians go wrong...one that we cant accept constructive criticism cos we are too emotional considering what happened when Greg told Saurav what he felt about his game when he was struggling with his form and second we are too obssessed with personal records...this is where the aussies are the best they dont take satisfaction over personal achievements but team records...what gavin has said is right, acting like clowns is not the answer but performing back with runs and wickets is the answer

Good Article
by Ramesh on Oct 10, 2007 01:41 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

An article with all the PUN intended. But getting agressive and other display of expletives is not in the INDIAN culture or blood. We are not agressive as these australians; but we do have one thing in us that they dont have...brains...I am not kidding. But its up to us to use this brains in the field. We indians are also a lot more emotional; and i hope and pray we use this emotions for the purpose of winning the matches against the aussies and show them that they are not immortals...All the while i write this..i still cannot stop admiring aussies for their consistency. I think australians brought more meaning to the word consistency in cricket...which in the past used to be a game of uncertainity. Not anymore! Aussies surely have defied this uncertainity and made it a certainity! Kudos to australia. And Good luck to India..we can do it...just show these kangaroos that we do JUMP and HOP!!

i wish i could answer you bhavik..but i think, just having brains is not enough :-), we need to apply. I was trying to say that Australians, as such do not have a "game plan"...or even if they have...its just one GAME plan against all the teams. ..Go out , get runs, demoralilze opponents and win!! (and it works most of the times). With a huge "think tank" in india, who are very good at commeting the ups and downs and strategies from TV studios we definitely qualify as people having brains...but applying it is entirely a "different" ball game

Seriously do we have biased, unintellingent, jingoistic people in our country. Reading through this forum definitely makes me think so.
Did we see Aussies sledging Lara or Pietersen or even dravid. NO!! coz it fires them up (sledging i mean) and that is wat gavin robertson was saying. He's told us Indians the way Aussies try and mentally disintegrate the opposition and ppl in this forum are talking BS. #Why cant we as a nation understand wen someone is actually trying to demoralize or disrespect us and when someone's stating an opinion. In this case its the latter
