HYD - RAVI TEJA, PRAGNAN OHJA
TN - BADRINATH, VIDYUT, RAMKUMAR

Except RP Singh the rest in the UP list are useless.

Do to skewed selection policies the entire teams of BENGAL and HYDERABAD joined ICL.

The Whole Indian team rocked today.
by Lotiya Pathan on Nov 26, 2007 12:10 AM  Permalink

Karthik took a superb catch to dismiss Misbah. Dada played well for a change. Dravid and Jaffer played out fired up Shoaib and the moving new ball very well. Tendul played the Anchor role well. Finally, Zaheer bowled just an outstanding spell in the morning..

Wow what a test match
by Rakesh Narayan on Nov 26, 2007 12:08 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This Paki team certainly has th fighting spirit and so does India. The super-4 seniors looked like they could play another 10 years easily and get wins home and away. Good they didnt win it yesterday as I couldnt have savoured the win so late in the night. Its important to have youth in the team, but it should be the right mix, not just arbitrarily inserting young players. They went from one extreme of having Kapil Dev play as a 110kph bowler, to removing all the top players just because they were above 30. Finally they get the right mix. Just select people purely based on performance and true value, rather than age.
And to all the people who dissed Jaffer for dropping a 50-50 catch (forward short leg is probably the most difficult position in cricket), he surely made up for that. Bhajji should just shut up and focus on his bowling, esp since hes underperformed for ages now.

Its better to promote Sachin to open along with Jaffer and Dravid to come in at No.3 followed by Ganguly,Laxman,Yuvi and Dhoni.Laxman and Yuvi's position should be interchangeable depending on the left-right combination. Dinesh karthick is a good wicketkeeper and will be the standby for Dhoni. With Sachin in the present form he can perform the role of sheet anchor and be aggressive when needed.

RE:Wow what a test match
by Rakesh Narayan on Nov 26, 2007 12:29 AM  Permalink
Test opening needs a different set of skills. I havent seen a middle order player ever succeed in opening and the reasons are easy if you have played any level of club cricket. Its easy to play out the new ball on Indian pitches but not in most conditions. Yuvi is an okay test player with little value (33 avg) to add and should be considered only in case of an injury to the 45 avg players in the middle order. Laxmans true greatness will be realised Down Under. Yuvi has too many basic flaws of technique to succeed consistently in Tests. But yeah he will dominate ODIs and 20-20, hes todays version of Jadeja probably much more talented but still in that mould.
