This is a rubbish team, where are the openers, Sehwag has not proved himself after dropping. Jaffer and Karthik are doing a decent job. Yuvaraj has to wait because test and one dayers are different. A place in Indian team is not for giving rewards to some body or rehabilitating somebody. Team should be selected based on team's requirements. Many will argue that Yuvaraj is a better batsmen than jaffer and Karthik and I do fully agree but Yuvi is not a opener and we cannot accommodate in the middle order. The job of openers is to see off new ball and even if they dont score big does not matter.

Where did i say that Yuvraj should be sennd as an opener. Yuvraj had operformed well in both ODI and test matches.Jaffer and Karthick are o.k. for Indian pitches. They will be blown in Australia and for good score, good opening partnership is necessery. Even laxman was n't doing well in domestic matches this season.I don't think you understand the climatic conditions and pitches and have just started watching cricket by saying it's a rubbish team.Don't u remember over 400 runs partnership between Rahul and Sehwag Vs. Pakistan.

Jaffer Kartik OK for indian pitches???? FYI they both got their performances noticed in South Africa, England & WI(jaffer).
Just roll back the performances of Test Batsmen of India in 2007 ------
Do u know who is the topscorer for the year...many wont beleive - its Dinesh Kartik and next is Sachin (Till the 1st Match against Pak Started)No one else in the top 10 test batters of the world for 2007. And one failure - you want to kick the openers. HAHAHAHA

Selected Team looks pretty solid and I agree with SUdhir's selection. Only thing is, the next generation test team members like Karthik, Jaffer also should be taken to Australia and be given chances to acclimitise ther and get some experience and be given a chance to prove themselves for the long term benefits.

It will happen in near future. I expect Ganguly to score a double century against Greg's countrymen and further succeseful innings.

sudhir, i appriciate your views.
but be practical, ganguly never made double cnetury agnt any team.
so it nearly impossible for him to make double century agnst australia.
but i m hoping that ganguly will show some good show from bat as well from ball there, helping team to win.

He missed one against Srilanka in world cup.But It doesn't mean the things that hasn't happen can not happen. He still has the capability to surpass his best score.Isn't it? He is a great fighter.People have short memory.

Ganguli's batting
by Crick fan on Nov 26, 2007 04:51 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is best that I can say when a batsman get to batting second innings. In the forth inning of the match when the pitch is not behaving at its best, his batting was simply superb. He showed that batting on the forth inning is simple and easier. Keep it up Ganguli, good show. His innings has made the match in our favour.

Ganguly
by Dilip Mishra on Nov 26, 2007 04:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I hope this will silence some of those anti-Ganguly jeolous people and as the report says, he played supreme fast bowling with ease. This will tell those people to stop mouthing that he cannot play fast bowling. I am not fan of any one but good cricket but I have seen too much of negativity going against Ganguly and Dravid and that is not fare. There is no denying fact, there will not another generation where same team will play the players of calibre of Sachin, Dravid, Saurav and Kumble. So rather that being regional, think as an Indian and appreciate these guys because there is hardly anyone on the horizon to replace these greats.

Tendulkar the Genius
by Manu on Nov 26, 2007 04:14 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

One suggestion to Kumble and to the BCCI selectors: Make (request) SR Tendulkar an test opener for the sake of India. My gut feeling s he will be a great success. couple of advantages: India will get a well established player of Sachin's calibre as an opener which the selectors could not find after Sunny. (2) We can accomodate Laxman/Yuvi/Ganguly/Sehwag higher in the order (Its pity when Laxman has to take care of both the tailenders and the opponents at the same time always).
(3) Tendulaker can take the pressure of good fast bowlers around the world which he has been doing through out in his 18 years of cricket career in Onedayer's.
What you all think about this. Looking at his expeience , his stature, his mental strength and his maturity tendulkar can be the best opener after Sunny.

You Dumb head, opening in test is a specialist job. The job of the opener is to stay at the wicket, make the ball old, so that the middle over batsmen can capitalise on it. Even if the opener stays at the wicket for two hours and doesn't make any runs, he has done the job for the team
