ramji raja is a nut. he has habbit of wrongly naming ind players, cities, and state associations.
in ODI team more than anyone, if a vacant spot arises. But Veng(sucker) is trying to push Rohit Sharma ahead of Raina, Manoj Tewari and Badrinath. Kick that hypocrite out of the selector post.

Vengsarkar is right. Rohit sharma is much better player than raina/badrinath/tewari. Riana was unnecessray given so many chances during chappel regim

Once they eliminate South Indian cricketers from contention, they start discriminating among themselves. It depends who is the selection committee chairman and who is powerful in the board. That is what happening to those other cricketers. Now Rohit is from Mumbai team. He is good. But there other good players who have been in contention for long. But now he is being pushed at their cost. They destroyed so many cricketers from South, namely Robin Singh,VBC, Sharath and more.. There was one period when South Indian cricketers were given fair chance. There were many cricketers from Karnataka at that time. But most of them deserved their place since Karnataka Ranji team was strong nationally too. PS: I am not a Kannadiga. My parents are from both sides of India.

yes. i think rohit is more prefered over others merely bcoz of vengi. rohit may b good, but others may b much better than him. other strong contenders in young brigade r tiwari, raina, cheteshwar pujara.
Wasim Jaffer dropped the catch because he was friends with Misbah. So all Indian players who drop a catch or misfield or lose their wickets are friends with opposition? You cannot be muslim or south Indian in India. You will die trying to prove your patriotism till you die and won't succeed.

You are right. But I am sorry to add that my comments are also directed to any comments that is communal or parochial in nature. It's a looser mentatlity to say that you can not be muslims or south indians. You only have to prove these things to communal minded people. Why care? For example, who doubts Irfan or Zaheer? Do your work honestly, and stop whining. Everybody respects the achiever, and (s)he does not have a religion. Whole of India and the world respects Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble, except a few idiots. I write this with a desire to to eradicate misunderstanding, not to hurt anyone. I hope you understand and agree with me.

You sounds like an idealist and I agree with your vision. I am an idealist too. But reality is not the same. I am writing as an achiever. It's not about achievement. In India, if you are a minority and work honestly you can become famous. But look how the celebrities are put under trial. They are waiting for them to make a mistake. See how the top starts are put under trial. The same thing I see in US happening to African Americans too. You will never understand what it is like to be a minority.

I am glad you took it in right spirit, and thanks for that. I understand that being a minority anywhere is an uneasy situation. I have seen communal faces among my friends in the majority, and also among the minority. The good thing is that you will find fair minded people too everywhere. I have friends among minority and majority and some turned out to be communal in nature. I had to cut down my relation with these people to a minimum but it gives me immense pleasure that I keep it clear and loud that I do not entertain communalism. Coming to the point, you are right that communalism and regionalism is a reality in India. But I also know that it's not that bad in India, and for the posterity we have got to be non-communal and spread the message of tolerance.

What happens when it comes do DADA. Why you idealists become regionalists. See what DADA did. Took two wickets and just two short of a well deserved fifty. I know even after these performance he will be under pressure to perform (unlike others) to retain his place because of people like you who are always after his head. Being the most successful captain of India he is the most insulted player of India. God only knows why.
one match failure for karthik and everyone will be gunning for him. He together with Jaffer gave so many good starts in the last two overseas tours. Everything will be forgotten. India might win today. But in normal circumstances they will keep the winning combination for next match. But since Karthik lives on the wrong side of India, he will be given a boot to accomodate their favourite good looking stars from the right side of India.

If he deserves, he will be in the team for a long time. Isn't Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble from South India. Get out of your complex, moron.
RE:RE:Just watch...
by cosmopolitan desi on Nov 25, 2007 02:13 PM Permalink
Moron..Yes. Those two are from South India. But they have to accomodate someone for tokenism and besides they forced their selection by being outstanding. But the discrimination is visible when they are going through a bad phase. At that time, the treatment is different for them compared to the rest. Moron, this is well know through out the history of Indian cricket. Don't pretend like everything is perfect in this country.

Mr Rahul, Do you think Dada dint do anything?? who can forget his "love affair" with Dalmia and his eventual betrayal?? Do your remember in 2004 he left a test in the hands of Dravid to play a ranji match??? forgot the email from Greg chappel, which was shamelessly leaked into the press to create bad opinion about the coach?? These incidences are enough for one to understand that Dada wasnt kicked bcause of poor form.. theres much to read into it.

I will be surprised if Karthik will be dropped, but why this North & South thing? U cant deny that Yuvi is in top form, trump card of India in ODI T20 so deserves a chance (not just mere gud looks) but it has to be in middle order which mean Dada or VVS feeling heat. I dont see anything wrong done by Vengy so far except making comments on Senior players (may be he was still not happy with early exit in WC). Sorry mate but I dont think N-S is biasing by selectors (Vengy) but only by few people posting comments here.
So all you geniuses who accused Laxman of exposing the tail and comparing him to Misbah see him exposing the tail today? WTF? If batsmen from number 7 cannot even defend and rotate a strike at test level and score atleast 10 runs each, what are we talking about beating Australia? Even McGrath stays around for an hour. Don't blame it on the eternal fall guys of Indian cricket(South Indian cricketers) for everything wrong with the team. The same Harbhajan and Zaheer scored many runs at this position in the post. If they bat stupid now, it's not Lakshman's fault.

I absolutely agree with you cosmopolitan desi,we are trying to compete Aussie down under in less than 2months & do we call this performance to beat them, that to on there own soil. Lets get our thinking right & stop blaming VVS. Lets not think big of asking tail enders to score runs big time but atleast let them learn that their wicket is not a cheap commodity that could be given away after facing couple of deliveries.

Sorry mates, I m from India & I feel Laxman dint played well in first innings. As a senior player he shd be facing maximum deliveries & score single on 5 or 6th ball of an over. I was really shocked to see Laxman taking single in first ball of an over & letting his partner (tailender) at mercy of Bowler. Best players I have seen in these situation was 1. Inzamam, 2. Lara 3. Imran Khan. Here I m not criticising one wrong shot by batsman & throwing his wicket but on temprament of a player. I hope Kumble will point this to Middle order batsmen.

Don't compare with Dada, who debuted with two centuries. That's too much for Karthik. He simply does not belong there. The score is not important. The class/Technique is. Rather compare with Jafar. He is a class act and certainly deserves his place in the team.
RE:Karthik
by Mayank Raj on Nov 25, 2007 01:51 PM Permalink
If you see the way he is out in both innings of this test match, it will be clear to you that he does not have the technique to play fast ball. If he continues to play in the team, he will gift a quick wicket to pakistan throuout the series. Shoaib will not more than a couple of over to dismiss him. I know that he is a gutsy player. No doubt on his character, but honestly, he does not have the skill to be an opener. He got runs a few times. It's bound to happen when you keep on playing. That does not prove he is technically good. There are lots of deserving players. He however deserves to be the 2nd wicketkeeper.
RE:Karthik
by cosmopolitan desi on Nov 25, 2007 02:00 PM Permalink
If he cannot play fast ball then how come he did well in the last two overseas tests on tour? He and Jaffer gave very good starts and survived the fast bowling which was instrumental in India winning tests abroad recently. Gangly is not good at playing fast ball which is well know, why don't you guys cry for him to be dropped and accomodate Yuvraj?

Hey friggin idiot. So do you watch cricket once in a blue moon. I hope then you saw the last England seires and oveseas tours before that. Karthik and Jaffer were instrumental in giving good starts and winning tests abroad. Opening in tests abroad is the toughest job. I am not surprised that one failure from a South Indian cricketer is all you need to talk about dropping him and accomodating one of your favourite North Indian players.
