Sehwag shud b there coz i think the rate at which he scores if he scores gives india the edge, and a 90 ball 50 from a jaffer or a kathick wont change the complexion of the game in Brisbane and Adeilade. its Sehwag who make other teams go on defensive. i am not exactly a fan of sehwag, but it does give india more of a chance. Again of course it is my thought only.

so cool guy u think kartick would be successful in aurtralia? Kartick is a makeshift opener and his first test against real pace has been a falilure. Sehwag is not in form for sure, but is is better to take a guy who has a proven track record than a guy who we know for sure would fail.

I feel it is too early to comment on Karthik just after one bad test. Mr. Ramakrishnan, how long are you going to select players like Sehwag based on their past records??? Sehwag has got the most chances than any other cricketer. He was not good enough to grab them

V definitely need Viru in Australia . With the amount of potential that this gr8 man has, Indian cricket would definitely miss him if he is not there in the team.
Get him back in is the only thought. He is a killer tool....
RE:Viru - Bring him in
by Cool Guy on Nov 25, 2007 09:59 PM Permalink
What bullshit. Why do you need to bring in an out of form player only based on his past records???? Not justified. He has not even performed in domestic cricket.
First of all I am not writing this coz m a fan of any indvidual. I am writing this coz I am a fan of Indian cricket. About Sehwag. All of us remember this guy's failures..all of us remember when he dint score runs later in his stint as one day or test batsman..we all love to hate him..but why do we forget that this guy had it in him..he had scored runs and when he used to score runs we had so much success. Dada benifitted hugely by sehwag's success coz India won a lot of matached under dada's captaincy when this guy played well. Why do we forget he is our most successful oprning batsman. The guy has some talent. No one can deny that. Y dont we encoutage him. We need him as an opener in Test matches. I agree he is probably no in form like he used to be but he also had failured in between all the successes. But one thning I like about dada during his captaincy days that he supported his players during their failures. Players wernt dropped from left right and centre. Y do we forget even these players are humans and the new ones that are going to come arent going to hit sky from the work go. like some ppl are behind dravid. The guy is an excpetional batsmen. Though I consider him as a traitor during Chappel Ganguly episode and he showed he not that an exceptional person nor captain. Anyways dravid should be in unless sumthg goes wrong miserably. And sehwag should be given a chance as an opener. As great Gavaskar says "Form is temprory. Class is Permanent."

and I apologise for my spelling mistakes..matched is actually mataches..oprning os opening..encoutage is encourage..failured is failures..thning is thing..work is word..and I would like to correct myself..sehwag is most successful test opener after gavaskar retired from test cricket
RE:Sehwag!!
by Cool Guy on Nov 25, 2007 09:56 PM Permalink
Amit, it would be better if Sehwag was in form. Old records dont matter and only present form matters. But at present Sehwag is out of form and has to perform out of his skin in domestic cricket to get his place back. Or else some other player has to fail very badly for him to be in the reckoning.
RE:Sehwag!!
by Amit Kripalani on Nov 25, 2007 10:05 PM Permalink
thats wt my point is..he is a test opener now..and we always hv room there..we always hv 1 guy doing well and other guy doing badly..dinesh should be given a longer stint but y do we forget that he is also a make shift opener like sehwag was and is more likely to fail..none of our middle order batsmen are going to open.. not even dravid..even he doesnt like it in tests..though he virtually ends up playing as an opener but he still prefers no.3. Thats his slot. we cnt ask yuvi to open. he is going to miserable in front of ball bouncing a swinging...who do we have..I say sehwag coz if reasons explained..he has the talent and has proved..who else can open..if dere is he shoudl be given a shot..but when dinesh karthik is used as a make shift opene its obvious we dont have any options

I agree to what u said. But we have to put the best team for the Aus tour. We cannot afford to have out of form players only because of good past records. The player has to perform as of today.

n lets not always keep our domestic cricket as a benchmark.coz honestly if we do dt then there r tons of players who will say we have good domestic record and we should be given a shot..but we know how much talent comes out..anyways was just giving my opinion..U and I are not going to select the team anyways..lol..so newvamind

Your point about Sewag is fine. However, at the moment, he isn't enjoying his cricket. Perhaps, he needs a few more chances and be taken to Australia. However, the guy has to play in as many matches as possible. So far, he is scoring a fast 20 or 30 runs, a far crcy from the 200s and 300s that he was scoring.
By your own yard stick of not changing people left and right, you would want to give Dinesh Karthik another chance. The guy has scored at an average close to 50 in test matches opening for india in 2007. you dont want to get back to that chopping and changing game.
Again. What is that about that Dada and that garbage Coach Chappel? Ganguly is a fine player and the best when it comes to mental strength. Please dont compare him to that bull that we had as a coach. We are looking past that waste of a period when that guy wasted this talented Indian Team. If you are supporter of that failure, then you must start supporting Rajathan Team. This guy has become their coach. Mark my words. That team and state cricket wil go down the drain in no time. This guy isnt going to improve nothing. He is a political garbage that doesnt deserve to set foot in india again.
RE:Sehwag!!

Talisman. I am not a fan of Chappell but he has done one good thing - remove Ganguly from the team. Actually Ganguly was the only non-performing member in the team and as he was the captain, the selectors were also not very strong to remove him. If it was not for Chappell, Ganguly would not have come back and performed as he is doing today. Some credit has to be given to Chappell also for Ganguly's success.
Anil Kumble did some smart thinking n was able 2 take out best frm each of the team.Right now ,it looks that 4 a test match, 2 spinners, kumble n harbajan ,2 fast bowlers..Zaheer n Munaf ,4 batsman, sachin, sourav, laxman n dravid n 2 allrounder like yuvi wid dhoni as a w/k r enough 2 win ...but wht next...there must b serious thinking 2 look replacement 4 souranv n dravid...both thought that if they leave captaincy ,india will fall..but in both cases ..team perfomed well after they left....
Saurav has proved today also that he is the most selfish player. He performed today because his place was under tremendous pressure from Yuvraj Singh. Now Saurav will be selected in the next two tests and also for Aus series even if he fails in all the next matches. This is selfishness at its height. Now all the Bongs will be after me.
RE:Saurav is the most selfish player
by Gautam De on Nov 25, 2007 09:34 PM Permalink
Ganguly would have been in next two matches and austrlia series any way. He has always built up crucial partnerships. His main shortcoming - apart from not scoring 100 - is he is Bengali. So much of hate rest of india has on Bengalis (for some unknown reason) that Ganguly is jeered on the day he fails, as well as the day when he succeeds. Horrible people are Indians. You are missing that people like you were successful to kick him out. BUT WERE FORCED TO BRING HIM IN TEAM WHEN YOUR TAILS WERE BETWEEN YOUR LEGS. Just that.
RE:Saurav is the most selfish player
by Talisman on Nov 25, 2007 10:58 PM Permalink
May be that is your shortcoming.
The rest of india see Ganguly as a fine indian player and you a Bengali see him as a Bengali palyer. That is a problem you have and not the rest of us.
And by the way, the immature way in which the Bengal crowd supported South Africa in that one-day match at Eden Gardens when Ganguly was not in the side has nothing to do with Ganguly. However it has everything to do with that Bengali crowd - who see the world as Bengali and non-Bengali.

Don't worry buddy. We gujaratis here in Gujarat are a huge supporter of Ganguly. His capataincy was superb. We still love him for that. Don't worry. Gujaratis would always support Bengalis or anyone else if he / she is right.
RE:Saurav is the most selfish player
by Cool Guy on Nov 25, 2007 09:39 PM Permalink
The hate is because you Bengalis think yourself to be superior to others. Only fools think this way. We agree that Saurav played well today but you people criticise other players and say that it is only because of Dada that India is in a winning position. You people should be kicked to Bangladesh or China.
RE:Saurav is the most selfish player
by Gautam De on Nov 25, 2007 09:42 PM Permalink
Dont know who said that. 1. Bengalis were better during Bengal revolution. Otherwise Indian history says Bengalis were never a prominent race in India. Now Bengalis are even worse than most of India in many respects. 2. No, only Dada cannot win matches. its impossible. May be in a few matches one can turn the table. Dada's true legacy is he combined the team into a true NATIONAL team by removing regional politics and secondly he brought in the self confidence and steel mindset into team - which was absent for a long time in india. He ruled ODI for several years, true, but in test cricket, his limitations were exposed. He survived by his tremendous mental strength and determination. That is another quality.

If I agree with you, I need to say %u201CCharity begins at home", how dose it justify with your claim & Gangully. OK, Gangully played when it comes to the matter for further existent. I took it as like India cricket team more a time played under presser. He (Gangully) thought the team to play bravely, He was selfish, because if he would haven%u2019t dose so he would have lost his post of captaincy. He was selfish on those many occasions, when he scored those brilliant innings to bring glory to your country, or else would have thrown out of team......... Even today he produce two wicket and letter a brilliant knock, because he is selfish. So, I say you also be selfish, do some charity to your home, & that may help India emerge.
