Re:Cannot understand

Sreesanth sits out four ODI's ,plays one and reports injured.R>P.Singh sits out the last ODI and yet reports injured. What is happening? Is this the way to go into a first Test.Play ODI's and ignore the Tests.
India shd rest both R.P.Singh and Sreesanth for this series and ask them to get ready for the Aussie tour with specific inputs on length and line suitable for Aus.
For the Pak tour try Pankaj Singh and Ishant Sharma.Munaf is not a great long term prospect.

The team which plays the least no. of international mathches whole of the year is Newzealand but that is team with max no. of injuries. Shane bond and most of their fast bowlers never complete one full series... Team India bowlers are much better..

Pl show some common sense when scribbling something in the blog

Fast bowlers are injury prone. Bowling is a bod physical exercise and Bowler who bowls fast is always prone to breakdown. May be practice session is enough to pick up an injury. But has to question the Bowling coach and the physio how come 2 bowlers break down at same time. May be practice is too strenous.

it is not only true that fast bowleers are injury prone. There is a lot of politics to keep players out. This trick is fondly named as injury, giving rest etc.

Irfan Pathan : Is he a medium fast bowler?

Praveen Kumar should play in Indian team after having experience in First Class matches, Ranji Trophy. Don't rush him to include Indian team. His bowling was good especially in the initial and final overs, which is required for an Indian fast bowler. He played against South African A team also like the same way. However, his batting despite having an attacking batting style, he is still lacking maturity and intensity to play good innings. He has to be groomed the way Rohit sharma, Irfan Pathan are batting.

Munaf
by P Ramanathan on Nov 21, 2007 06:58 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In India, every one will judge Munaf's fitness and his attitude. To see his face, some Indians will get irritated. However, they all will give hundred percent fitness to Ganguly who is a poor fielder.

You make a subtle point, Ramanathan.
However, "everyone" is a bit of an exaggeration, imho.

Munaf the paceless unfitn monster
by supandi on Nov 21, 2007 06:51 AM  Permalink

Munaf patel has lost his pace gradually ever since his arrival. He's not been a natual athelete and has numerous problems keeping up with fitness levels.

It's absolutely impossible to see him bowl 20 overs in an innings each in test matches. He labored to bowl 15 overs in Irani Trophy. Wonder why he was selected if he is not fit.

Kotla wicket reworked
by Akhil on Nov 21, 2007 05:50 AM  Permalink

Firozshah Kotla wicket has recently been reworked for a bouncy one with lot of grass on it. On top of that now India doesnt have the main strike bowlers who did quite well in Tests so far. RP and Sree being injured would be a gr8 loss for India. I m not sure about Munaf, because whenever I see him, he never bowls good. Not to mention about his terrible batting and fielding. Everything now depends on Zaheer Khan

Powar should be drafted in
by Sameer Bhagwat on Nov 21, 2007 03:49 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Karthik as a Test bowler is a waste of time that too against Pakistan.. Munaaf is a good choice, probably the only choice if India play only 2 fast bowlers. The only chance Pathan has to get into the squad is if India play 5 bowlers which they won't. Sachin and Saurav will be the 5th bowler and Kumble will have to bowl a lot of overs.

Dada in short 4 over spells can ease a lot of burden.

"Dada" should retire from cricket and get into politics. He appears to be a "natural" in the latter game :-)

indian selectors and their whimsical selections
by sridhar ranganathan on Nov 21, 2007 02:11 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Pathan could have been brought back instead of Munaf Patel It appears Indian Selectors' mindset
does not change be it the joker Raj Singh Dungarpur or the seasoned Dilip Vengsarkaar.
One of the greatest blunders and crime committed by the selectors in the past was with Ramnath Parkar who was Sunil Gavaskar's opening partner. He was an outstanding fielder in the covers and was IGNORED inspite of his outstanding performance in domestic cricket
He was selected for the inaugaral Prudential cup
in England and just a few days before the team left for England Parkar was dropped and Parthasarathy Sharma was selected!!!!!!!! to go to England for the world cup.
That Selector who committed this grave sin should hang his head in shame and if he has to atone for his sins should financially help the late family of Ramnath Parkar.

Agree with you regarding late Ramnath Parkar. Parkar got a raw deal from selectors as well as BCCI.

I too agree with you. Bringing back pathan has 2 advantages. we can play with 4 bowlers and pathan can be a 5th bowler and an all rounder. With this, we will get to play with 6 batsman, 1 all rounder and 4 bowlers.

With this, we have to decide between dinesh kaarthik/Dhoni as keeper and if dinesh has to play, dhoni has to sit out and if both dhoni and dinesh has to play, one of lakshman or saurav should open with dinesh kaarthik.

Pathan is a waste as test bowler. He has lost his swing, has no pace, and relies only on variation. Bowling slower ones, off spinners and occasional faster ones at 130kmph may work in ODI for a brief initial period, but will certainly a waste in test matches.

With his current bowling style, he'll sooon fade away from indian cricket arena.
