SRT is the greatest India has, dravid fans wanted to make Dravid no. 1, now he can't even find a place in the 16.
I've posted this quite a few times, for all the people complaining about Ganguly being in the team. Posting it again for all the people who are genuinely asking the question -
1. Main reason he is a batting all rounder, meaning when the pitch conditions suit the team he can do part of the 5th bowlers job pretty decently, thereby allowing the team to play an extra batsman or extra good fielder. 2. He is a senior player and plays well with Sachin. Sachin himself has told that he would like Ganguly in the team because the 2 of them play well together. Sachin likes the stability of Ganguly top of the order, and the left-right combination.
Those are the main reason, but the no 1. reason is the most important.
Neither Dravid, nor Laxman are bowlers, therefore they are 1 dimensional players. They are also not outstanding fielders. Therefore even though Ganguly is pathetic in the field, its his bowling which is lending balance to the side.
In fact the extended batting line up which we possess now, with Pathan being a regular batsman coming in at 8 is because Ganguly is doubling up as the 5th bowler.
Thats the thinking in the current selection committee. They want players who can do more than one thing (multi-dimensional) for the ODI side at least.
Dravid and Laxman dont fit this bill. They cant fulfill the 5th bowler slot.
Thats a genuine answer.
If you want to yell and scream go ahead, but if you want the real answer to your question, you've got it !

Plus Dravid divides the team with politics, just look how he got Venkatesh Prasad hired as India's bowling coach.And how Kumble first statement was to give a 'regional' support for Dravid. Did he say a word when Bhajji, Yuvraj,Parthiv,Pathan,Sehwag,Ganguly were dropped in tests?One word?

Did Saurav say even a word when Kumble, the greatest bowler India has ever produced, was dropped so many times? Did he say even a word when Dravid was dropped after just one bad series? Applying your own yardstick, Ganguly is a master politician too...

agreed ganguly is master politician but he was not bad enuf to play politics against india;s biggest cricket icon sachin...remember what happened after world cup 2007?????

Ganguly is a spent force. He was a good batsman once upon a time and a gutsy leader not long ago. However, he is a batting liability in one-day. Also, you have to hide him in the field. He can bowl a few, but so can Yuvaraj, if you want to rely on him as a bowler. He should recognize it and step away from one-day cricket. He has a few months to go in test and then he should hang his boots honorably. I also believe Sachin is not far away from retiring too. The fact is do they want to do it in an honorable fashion?

Yes, he is a liability on the field, but u can subsitute him out for that. As far as his bowling is concerned, he's a seamer and on pitches outside India which have some juice, he's a handful. People like Yuvraj and Sehwag as bowlers dont do well outside India, because they are finger spinners. Saw what happened to Yuvraj in England ? Ganguly is a seamer, so he cause a lot of problem in the middle overs.
The team management knows this, which is why they keep playing him.

Exactly, you're the first person in this forum who got it :) Thanks .. lol.
So in hindsight, the fact that Ganguly wanted to turn Dravid into a wicket-keeper batsman many years ago, was doing him a favour to prolong his ODI career.
But our brainless cricket supporters thought that he was exploiting Dravid ! :)

dosen't matter of the 6 90s he has made this year, india has won in 5. 2 of the 90s helped india win crucial series...first one against south africa in ireland and 2nd one today against pakistan...so just chill
i am reading all the messages to share more happy for the winning match og india. but its too much every one fighting with there states this is too much guys .Even all our players are very co-operate and like brothers y u people sloping all these things by typing all these things.everyone is from india it doesn't matter which state they came more
come on guys just be happy and encourage our players insted of blaming them
if anyone feels bad with any of my word i am realy sorry for that ok ijust want all indians ti be together and be happy with our winning

Lady why should you feel bad you have said the right thing, also people here argue and fight, but the fight is superficial, we all love our team, and also our regions, and most importantly India and Indians. So our arguments should be taken with a pinch salt. But any way good to hear a woman's opinion. Cheers.
