One Bengali cricketer I really liked in recent times was Deep Dasgupta. Although, he was raised in Delhi, but is a bengali and plays for Bengal in Ranji. He got his India color in test matches by chance, but I thought that the guy was actually quite good. He and Dravid by their gutsy batting saved the second test match against South Africa in 2001. He later made a century against England. But he dropped a few catches and then the media jumped on him. After that the guy simply lost his confidence because of the harsh criticism. Now, I think is barely hanging on to his Bengal wicketkeeper spot. A gutsy player who simply couldn't realize his potential. I have a lot more respect for him than I have for Ganguly.
You waste no time writing about a catch dropped by Sourav. Bud do not mention the stumping missed by Dhoni or the catches that were dropped by Yuvraj and Uthappa.

Dude, but Ganguly can't bat like this and field like this and then be on the ODI team to Australia!

well he was 75% less catches than Dravid. But with Dravid rightly out, there is no more least denominator factor.

well hewas dropping 75% less cathes than Dravid, but with Dravid K'ed out, Ganguly has to be own his own, plus 39,6,39,5, are not good scores.Luckili for him Gambhir has been been bad too. Think both Gambhir and Gangudeva hace to do etter or else no Autralian ODIs.

arre bhaayya kya tum bhi, jabhi jit gaye to sab kuch maf hai, after all they are human beings not machines, my dear friend.
I feel very sorry for Dravid because there is no one to speak for him. Its a classic example of a good guy ending last.
When Dada was dropped all 10 crore bengalis were ready with their iron rods, and BCCI listened.
Dravid being a saintly person, never really had regional identifications. So for Kannadigas he is a marathi and for Marathis he is a Kannadiga! He has ended up in no man's land. This is sad because Dravid was the ultimate team man. Perhaps he would like that to be his legacy and will not want anyone to indulge in unruly behavior on his behalf. And certainly not because of any regional identifications.
I salute you Rahul. This UPwala will always remember you very fondly. I can't say the same about certain other members of the team.
Those who criticise Great Sachin are either out-of their mind or just street side barking dogs who knows nothing about cricket. They come out if Sachin fails in an inning or two and hide when Sachin starts performing....

Certainly Rahul is any time better than self-centric Ganguly...when he was dropped,he tried to emotionally appeal people in Pepsi Ad...machali curry ka baccha....rasgulla!!!!!!!!!!

Today it was a great innings by Sachin. It was a batting display which he used to show in his younger days. Watch the highlights of the match at stumpview.com
