you must be crazy........the bcci is currently purely Mumbai(marathi) centric and the brillinace of kumble is hardly something that will cross their mind and to top it all the selector from the south is an impotent jerk called venkatapthy raju who hardly has the guts(or perhaps the verbal ability)toput forth a just case.......

Yes, Kumble is the toughest of them. Not many remember him bowling to Lara & Co with bandaged face holding together the broken jaw he sustained while batting where he urgently needed sutures. Lion hearted man and a lion hearted performance. Even Australians would have been proud to have him in their ranks.

Excellent decision
by C R on Nov 06, 2007 03:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If Tendulkar intends to last a few seasons more in Indian cricket, then, rejecting the Captaincy is the best step forward for him. Also, if India wants to construct a good captain for future and for the world cup ahead, then a new captain is better. Tendulkar must be form of the team so that the next few seasons are used as a learning curve for youngsters.. There can be no better training than being a team mate. Even a coach cannot dispense as much knowledge as a teammate can......right down on the pitch, with tendulkar at the non strikers end,,,, he is the closest to give batting tips on a ball to ball basis to his partner. As a non striker a youngster is best positioned to see Tendulkar batting. Can a coach do this?? Tendulkar has a lot of batting left in him...... One cannot expect a half centry or a century from him in every innings..... if he did that, he would become Michael Schumacher of Cricket.

He has taken a good decision... he can concentrate on his cricket and personal life better by being a team player.......

Captaincy would have sounded end of his career. He has enjoyed being the captain.......now is the time for him to gracefully score runs......

Good Decision
by Kshitij Dar on Nov 06, 2007 03:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Its a very sensible decision by tendulkar and there may be many factors supporting the cause:

1. If Dhoni wins the ODI series and Tendulkar loses or draws the Test series, people will blame him n will expect his head.
2. Being him the captain is itself a backward step.
3. Today he may be captain but for how long? One two or three years...after that he would lose both - the respect as well as the tag of Batting Maestro.
4. he is not a natural leader
5. We love his batting and expect him to be the greatest 'batsman' ever......

Tactic in disguise
by akash gupta on Nov 06, 2007 03:57 PM  Permalink

Sachin is definitely acting very smart now,as if he becomes the captain then the failure as a captain and as a player after the 3 toughest series may throw him out of the team. The same happened with Ganguly but then ganguly is a fighter and we and sachin himself knows that he can't bounce back after being mellowed down in that way.

Will Musharraf survive and succeed?
by Manish Badani on Nov 06, 2007 03:57 PM  Permalink

It is a CRUSADE by U.S. after 9/11.
It's the revenge first on Iraq,Afganistan now it is the PAKIS who are on the receiving end.
Dear Pakis,it is the price you are paying for being a American's DOG .May GOD bless you.Pkistan is gonna further divided in three new countries.
Unstable pakistan means stablity for India.

india's next test captain
by yogendra on Nov 06, 2007 03:57 PM  Permalink

i think saurav ganguly is the best alternative. he has loads of experience & 2 beat a team like australia, Ganguly seems 2 b the best choice as a captain.
