Dhoni should be the automatic choice
by subhojit saha on Nov 06, 2007 04:18 PM  Permalink

Now that Tendulkar has refused obvious choice for Captaincy should be Dhoni given his acceptance in the team & his record as a leader. Going back the old & failed mantra of two separate captains cannot augur well for the same nor would bringing back old tried & tested materials of the past. Looking ahead should be the mantra & facing the fact Dhoni & Yuvraj seems to the hope for Indian cricket

Ganguly
by JOYDEEP GUPTA on Nov 06, 2007 04:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

we all know that Ganguly is the best ever Indian captain...so he should be offered for this role. But things are not that simple in country like India, where BCCI is run by some non-cricketer fools....they'll go for the Dhoni, who will stay as puppet.

You are right, we should carry forward the tradition of non-playing captains

Indian Captain in Cricket
by samir banerjee on Nov 06, 2007 04:17 PM  Permalink

This is the most tasking appointment even more than PM becouse we are bunch of uinreasonable
emotional nationalist.We will accept national
disaster,Godra but not defet in Cricket.sachin
perhaps took correct decision becouse knows his
strength and faults. He is no doubt one of the
greatest Cricket brain in the world but not a great forceful motivetor to those who are far
behind him.The quality of a Leader comes out when he/she brings best out of a ordinary person
and delevers result. We had Tiger Pataudi and lately Saurav Ganguly in that mould.Dhoni is no doubt coming up well but we have to think to
use his enegry in class of cricket at this moment or gradually bring him to the stage. The
fear is that if he burs out early due to great
strain at one time then we shall be loosing a potential great captain too early.Rather give
a year to him to feel the pulse of the situation
more so in Australia where the asking is too tasking as Vice captain exposing him in few matches and leatr bring him in the Test as captain.Let us have Ganguly although he is not a yes boy to the adminstrers but for the good
of the country and cricket give him a session
to guide Dhoni so that he is ready for future.

KUMBLE or LAKSHMAN is the right choice
by andrew fernandez on Nov 06, 2007 04:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Kumble or Lakshman is the right choice to lead team inida in the test matches....Dhoni is too young for a test captain & also its tough for a wicket keeper to also be a captain for a th elonger version , he is curently enjoying the T20 & the ODI captaincy, lets not overburden him with the Test captaincy as well and bring in people with experience to do this job so none other than KUMBLE or LAKSHMAN is the right choice.

u think vengi has a soft corner for either laxman or kumble? he will never let that happen.
Although, I wish Laxman would be a good choice.

Lets be without a captain
by Mahesh Jagga on Nov 06, 2007 04:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

BCCI may start a new chapter in history of cricket by sending a captain less team to Australia.

The logic is - If we can win without Coach, we can do so without captain either.

Toss can be handled by Vengsarkar - he does not any way know the limits in his role as selector.

We may appoint a vice captain to do the field placings. Our fielding being so great, the position at which the catches are dropped is inconsequential as long as they are dropped.

Decisions about follow on (not probable on this tour) will be taken by batsman on the crease - it will avoid many heart burns.

In future tours we may attempt a team less tour. Pawar may lead his NCP gang and bring back the trophy. The payment for trophy may be made thru cuts received in wheat import deals.

dont ruin dhoni's career
by on Nov 06, 2007 04:14 PM  Permalink

make ganguly captain in his last remaining years.. he was a good captain..india's best infact. n let the remaining guys play without burden on their head... n perform their best..
dont curtail dhoni's natural game with tension of captaincy .. he already has to do wicketkeeping..
