Test Captain
by Sooraj Oswal on Nov 06, 2007 04:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Tendulkar is wise in refusing the mantle of test captain. At this stage of his career, he better be concentrating on his batting and would like to bow out of cricket on a high note. Also we all know that record suggests that as a captain, Tendulkar had not fared well and in the process risked his batting performances which now he cannot afford.Anyway a good batsman need not be a good captain. We should allow Tendulkar to be what he wants to remain at this stage of his carrer. In my opinion Dhoni alone should be a best choice. He has demonstrated lot of valour and character in his leadership. He is young man with lot of time on his side. We should allow him to grow and mature. Greme Smith of South Africa is an examble before all of us.

Tendulkar..Greatest

@Rakesh
By snubbing Marathi lobby, Sachin proved his credentials as Indian. Dhoni ko captan banao, woh dholage opposition ko.
They wanted to play politics and show that they made him Captain.
He is an icon and will stand above all players all the time.

sharad pawar wants sachin's help to win next elections so he is pleasing him with captaincy..
later he will use him at his political rallies...

its all politics in BCCI and therefore it reflects in cricketers also...

Kumble or Laxman
by Maharajan on Nov 06, 2007 04:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

My opinion is, Kumble will be the best man to lead Team India. If not Kumble, Laxman is better than Dhoni

Dhoni, is yet to cement his place in Test team. His batting is OK but Wicket keeping makes him trouble

I think Sachin knew his limitations ..he is a world class batsman ..agree ..but he didnt have guts to captain any side..captain should be someone like Ganguly who enjoy taking responsibilities and led from front..no doubt Ganguly is best Captain India got...

Agreed, now we have tried almost all possible players. Ganguly seems to be best of them suited for the Job. Dravid & Sachin expected same level of performance and committment from their team members without understanding five fingers are not the same.Ganguly understands that very well hence able to extract their best from team members

Sachin is intelligent. He knows what happend with earlier captains may happen to him too. The insulting way Ganguly and Rahul had to leave the captaincy may repeat with him too. He knows game is more important than any designation. He is true cricketer. He is dedicated to cricket and can sacrifice designations and power for the team.

TANDULKAR TURN DOWN CAPTAINCY

I think you are not watching matches these days. Sachin is one of the leading batsmen, though sometimes very scratchy. For cricketing he is already an icon. Now if he has turned down the offer of cataincy genuinely to beat maratha lobby his respect in and out of the country go further up. If he is trying to play precious now and accepts the captaincy later, he will go down in the eyes of his countrymen which I genuinely feel he is not doing as he is above all these cheap gimmicks.

Wise Decision
by Rakesh Gotri on Nov 06, 2007 04:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

By turning down the offer of captaining India, Tendulkar did a yeomen service to Indian Cricket. Otherwise it would have been disaster for team India considering Sachin's poorest record as Captain. By snubbing Marathi lobby, Sachin proved his credentials as Indian. Dhoni ko captan banao, woh dholage opposition ko.

What do you mean by snubbing marathi lobby? Tendulkar is a maharashtrian. He may turned down the captaincy for other reasons , so no need to bring in regional colours in this issue.Idiots like u are only making this country worst

First he says he wants to be now he says he doesnt want to be!
Thank God, he is not the Captain, else this indecisiveness would have killed India.
best bet now: Laxman/Kumble
but would the Mumbai Lobby headed by the dreaded Vengi and Powar come to pass it that easily? They would want to attach a few strings for sure!

By turning down the offer of captaining India, Tendulkar did a yeomen service to Indian Cricket. AND By turning down the offer to become prime minister of India, Sonia did a yeomen service to Indian Politics. Why you know? Both are not eligible or capable for that post.
