Its good decision. Dhoni should not be given test captaincy, first he has to groom over 1 year for 1dayers and then after that he can be given captaincy for test cricket. My choice will be Anil Kumble who is drak horse for Captaincy.

If u see his record as much as 63% of his centuries has helped India win the matches and 12% save the matches. I think Sachin has finally used his brains. He never was a good captain and that was proven in his two stints. It is now very simple issue as we all can safely guess more or less what the final eleven will be in the 1st Test.
I put my reasons for not giving them the captaincy Gambhir - No - too raw as yet Jaffer - No - not sure of his place as yet Dravid - No - as he doesnt want it Tendulkar - No - same he doesnt want it either Ganguly - No - Once bitten never again Laxman - No - not 100% sure of his place Dhoni - No - need to groom him into the job. Kumble - No - let him concentrate on 600 Wkts Harbhajan - No - too immature and foolish Sreesant - No - same reason as Harbhajan Zaheer - Yes - now this is my man.
On his comeback trail, he has his performance that speaks volume. He is now more matured and well liked and respected by his team-mates. He is our frontline and most potent bowler. Also at this stage I think the Selectors rather trying to bell the cat annd throwing Captaincy around which seems like stale piece of samosa that nobody wants. Give it to this man who has been relentless and tireless workhorse. I feel when you can identify one natural born leader in your team (now pls lets not talk about going back to Ganguly) it is best to entrust the job to a Bowler. A captain is most pro-active when team is fielding and who better is in know of things than a good bowler. Zaheer Khan - 50 Tests already under the belt and best reward he can get.
one wrong word of ganguly in this forum rediff immediately bans it.we are not using any abusive language or anything of that sort. just pointing out how selfishly he plays

If he did .. he needs to be more vocal about it.. Somebody needs to stand up against these corrupt administrators (BCCI & Selectors)
If performance was the criteria then Sehwag shouldnt hv been recalled as he has hardly done anything in the domestic circuit. Moreover Yuvi & Dhoni have also not been very consistent. Apart from the century against Aussies, Yuvi has scored only around 70 runs in 7 matches! at an avg. of around 14 per match!
Also, Veng's comment that Dravid does not add value to ODI Team is totally uncalled for! You make him the captain of the ODI team and after a series or two .. how can u pass such comments! There is a problem with administration as Dravid & Sachin have declined captaincy within a couple of months!
