Sachin - Part1
by Rajath Shrivastav on Nov 06, 2007 05:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Its time Sachin adds value to the team. It was nice to see him contribute in bowling in the last match. But, we have to groom younsters. We should get rid of tendulkar-ganguly opening pair and rather assign Uthappa and Gambhir that job. Both these lads are successful openers in domestic cricket. If Uthappa gets going at the top order we can easily make big scores.

Lots have been said about Sachin being unable to finish any innings and win matches at crucial stages. I think coming at 4th down will be the best option if he intends to wipe off this comment on his career. Moreover, he is termed as 'GREAT' batsman and hence I'm sure he can silent his critics w/ his performance even down the order.
Just imagine Sachin hitting those winning shots for at least 4/10 matches. It will not only be great value add to his career but also treat for his fans.

SACHIN himself said time and again he wants to open. U think, Mumbai lobby would allow that move to come in at #4, although I would love to see come down lower in the order.

Indian cricket captain ka topi ka koi value nahi hai kya....
Is it some filmfare or pulitzer prize ke refuse kar diya...
Kal ko apne army ka koi good looking zero kya front mein fight refuse kar sakta hai kya...
Kya yeh Topi aap logo ko dahege mein mila hai....
Mr DRAVID & MR T'DULKAR, this is a responsibility not some prize...
Nahi karna hai no retire ho jao!!!

Good for Sachin
by Madhusudhan N.R. on Nov 06, 2007 05:25 PM  Permalink

Why are Kumble and VVS not being considered for Test captaincy? Both are sureties in the test team, if fit. Also, it will give some time and respite to Dhoni, allow him to grasp the nuances better. He should be vice-captain for a year or so and then be handed the captaincy. The load would be too much on the kid in tests, being captain and Wicket keeper.

If Laxman is appointed...
by dc on Nov 06, 2007 05:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I hope he is not made a scape goat and really stands up for his team. He should be given his choice of team and I would think against Pakistan his first choice would be:
Sehwag, Jaffer, Laxman, Tendulkar, Dravid, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Pathan, Kumble, RP Singh, Zaheer Khan (Ganguly would have to sit out unfortunately)

My guess is the Mumbai lobby will pick Ganguly but will make him carry drinks. And the scapegoat captain is going to be Laxman!
Tendulkar was very shrewd in not opting for the captaincy. He was really shaking in his boots of leading the team against PAK and AUS.

Lastly, if someone like Sachin is waiting down the order, opponents will always have that pshycological fear and pressure.
Finally, with current playing XI, the order that I would love to see: 1. Uthappa 2. Gambhir
3. Ganguly 4. Yuvraj 5. Dhoni 6. Tendulkar
7. I. Pathan 8. Harbajan 9. Zaheer 10. RP singh
11. M. Karthik

Comments welcome.

A.Kumble cannot open in Tests. That is a no go.Can play Sehwag,Karthik orJaffer.Any 2 as openers. But issue now is captain? Will BCCI touch Ganguly as captain.I have no problem as Ganguly is media savvy, his batting form seems o.k.and he has good experience of Australia. He can be aggressive. In any case he will not treat Dravid so badly as Veng did.In thuis situation go for Ganguly, but if BCCI will not have him then it has to be Laxman.
