He plays for himself and his records. That is why he never perfoms when the team needs him i.e. in the finals. Just see his record there or in any pressure game e.g. Test match againist Pakistan when they came in India when he scored a hundred and few runs were required.

your understanding of this game is flawed. No one can play international game for 17 years with attributes you accuse Sachin of.

Bengalis are great
by Sanjeeb roy on Nov 06, 2007 06:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Criticising is common thing.Just think about Bengali they are the worst victim of indian politics. They don't sting so every body takes upper hand on them. But when they sting it becomes itching for everyone.

Dada is deserved to be captain again. But Many won't digest.simply politics.Come on Dada .

He is correct for turning down test captaincy !!
by sachii chao on Nov 06, 2007 06:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Tendulkar played 403 ODIs. His average is 44.12.
Out of 403 matches, India won 199 matches and lost 181 matches. Out of his 41 ODIs Hundereds he scored 29 Hundereds in the India's victory. His average in India's victories is 56.84, ie more than his career average. In world cup matches his average is astonishing as 57.93!! In all finals his average is 46.52 !! again more than his career average!! In series won his average is 51.26!

What do the people(only a few dumb who raise their voice) expect from him when they say that he is not playing for the country?

Do they mean that he should play in all matches everytime and all other batsmen should get cover from him to save their miserable performance??

One should study, during the captaincy of Saurav, most of the time India fielded 7 batsmen (sometimes Dravid was made to keep the wicket!!) Why was it necessary?? Just to cover up other non performing batsmen??

People says that Tendulkar was failure as a Captain. One should study that When Tendulkar was captaining Sheenath was injured, a few batsmen were sitting out due to match fixing. Therefore, was it correct that he was a failure. Our selection committee of that time was very in hurry to make Saurav as a Captain without digesting the true facts!!

Today he has turned down the captainy because there is more importance to ODI captaincy than Test Captaincy.(Is there world cup of Test as ODIs? No!)
Therefore he is correct in turning down the captaincy of Test Crick

Hei. Can you remember India's dismal Australia tour in 1999-2000 when Tendulkar was the captain.. India got smashed by Aussies by 3-0.. In that tour Sreenath, Venkatesh prasad and Kumble all played... When India toured Australia in 2003-2004 under Ganguly's captaincy , the result was totally different.. Ganguly had a tough time to get his bowlers as most of carried injury problem.. Zaheer got injured after first test, Harbajan could not play a single test match.. so ALL great Players are not Great Captain..
Ganguly is a great captain..

your information is not correct. Dravid, Sachin , Saurav, and Agarkar showed great form. Also part time players chipped in and helped where as when Sachin played the players were jaded and tired and with injuries.

continuation:
SO Sachin could have been a great captain too but, the selectors interfered too much with him. In contrast Saurav was lucky to have support of Dalmiya himself, and to have the team that he wanted. Of course Saurav worked hard so he should be given credit for it, but to run down Sachin without understanding his situation smacks of regional bias which is not good.

when tendulkar was the captain against australia....he had players like sameer dighe, hemang badani,etc.....except tendulkar who scored 2 centuries and (laxman 1 in a lost cause)...no other batsmen reached 50 ...so that doesnt mean he is the bad captain...if dhoni captains bangladesh team ,,, then that doesnt mean he is a bad captain

Sachin did not have a settled team when he was the captain, no proper coach, tired and out of form batsmen, two new and inexperienced batsmen, tired and injured bowlers, and ignorant and regionally biased and disruptive selectors and board officials. For a leading batsman who was young and relatively inexperienced himself all these burdens must have been too much to handle. Despite all this he one matches against Australia and South Africa. He could have been a great Captain but he was never really allowed to settle down.

Analysis from yesterday's match
by Ajay on Nov 06, 2007 06:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

For Sourabh ganguly the scoreboard will always display that he has made 39 valiant runs. But, there are two points which suggests his fitness level.

1. He dropped a sitter (by international standards) of Md. Yusuf, when he was at 10, who went on to made 83*
2. He created a lot of confusion while running between the wickets and finally got run out while trying to tease a fielder, "Majak majak mein run out ho gaya". Ganguly also has the distinction of getting run out by Monty panesar (who is regarded as the most lathargic fielder of the world).

Dada, get the fitness back or let the young guys come in and play a good game of cricket.

EXACTLY, my dear somebody finally pointed out!
Ganguly cannot simply walk into the Test Team. YUVI needs to replace him in the middle order
and India needs to pick
PATHAN (all rounder?), RPSINGH, ZAHEER (Murali Kartik depending on the pitch and conditions), KUMBLE and HARBHAJAN
and of course we need SEHWAG and JAFFER at the TOP followed by DRAVID, TENDULKAR AND LAXMAN.
