I have been going through a lot of msgs on this captaincy issue of late. Some people say Dada shud be brought back, some say it shud go to Laxman or Kumble and some say give it to Dhoni. First, we dont have any rights to comment, since there are people already assigned to make this decesion. But I were to give my opinion on this, it would be Dhoni. Cmon guys, Tendulkar was never a captaincy material. He is the best batsman in the world, but I dont think he can take the responsibility of being a good captain. As for Dada, I dont think he shud agree to being a captain after all that has happened to him in the past. For me, I wud have luved to see the Indians playin under him. He is a natural leader, but his time has gone. Besides he will be playin only for a couple of years to the most, so India needs to groom a new player for the post and have the likes of Ganguly and Dravid guiding him while they are stil playin for India. Laxman and Kumble, cmon guys they are no captaincy material. Both are not regular features in One Day team, and i dont see them continuing to be a part of the Test Team either. So the only person who feets the role is Dhoni. People say he is too young to take the added responsibility. Cmon when Graeme Smith was made the captain of the SA team, he was not even a regular in the team and see where he has matured as a player and a captain. I feel Dhoni is a much better player than him. And he has shown what he is capable of by getting us the T20 WC as well

To add to that, Dhoni is a young aggresive player, mostly like what Ganguly was when he became the captain of the team. So, am sure he has the temperment to go the distance. And i fell with seniors in the side, this is the correct time to groom him.
People who are not physically fit (tennis elbow) shouldn't even be in the team, but, of course, continue to be ad infinitum. So thanks a lot for these small mercies like declining the captaincy. And when you do make up your mind about retiring, try convincing the other physically unfit oldie Sourav Ganguly as well. He drops too many catches, scores too few runs, and consumes a large number of balls.
Let yuvraj be a test captain. Dhoni 1Day and T20. Seniors are spent force, and its good if they are in team, the young captain (whoever he may be) can take guidance/advice from them.

Dude - Yuvi is not even in the playing 11 right now for Tests. You want him to be off-the-field captain?
I think it is the right time to bring back Ganguly at the helm of affairs!! He has experience and is aggressive as a captain....willing to take risks and willing to put faith in juniors!!

Na - time to do what South Africa did - draft a young captain - with the mental tenacity and maturity to lead the team - Mahendra Singh Dhoni!

And more importantly he will not be able to run away from the WACA pitch once he is captain. I want him to perform lezim dance to the chin music of Brett Lee. Indeed Sourav for captain...
Congrats Sachin, for his decision. Captaincy is not his cup of tea. I know all sachin haters will say that sachin does not have the guts n all.. But had Sachin been agreed to take the captaincy the same folks would tell that Sachin is Selfish and Greedy.. So there is really no nedd to care those guys... Now in this situation Sourav is an autometic choice. He was the Best Indian Captain till date. So if he is in the team he is the best choice. But yes, if he is in the team..
Dada has been the best ever indian test captain and now that he is playing well he should be test captain. He also has the best record against Australia as captain compared to any other Indian captain of recent times.

Indeed, Ganguly behaves more like a dada than a Cricketer. If he is removed it is good for Cricket.
This is one thing about Indian populous that cannot stand excellence because of jeolousy. I clearly see one thing about the phsyche of an Indian fan. They tend to compare themselves to these players and start feeling either that
1. They can do better than all of these guys (sitting in their arm chair in their living roons) OR 2. That they can never ever get what these players are getting so there has to be a way in which they can get back at them. THe best way is to just bring them down with comments, processions, crap talk whatever they can do.
The one thing the Indian fan is not short of is time!!! If you see, the rational fan watches something and says, well a good day for the team or that his fav player did or did not do well in the game.
Then there is the second level of fan that is seriously interested in the game. This type of guy usually looks for things that can help his team. He is thinking that way and speaking taht way so the media has something positive to say to the guys that go out in the middle and toil for India. This second type is not something you find in Indian in abundance. This requires Maturity, Love and Respect. THe population in this country is so insecure, hatefull and digenerate that this type of fan is impossible to find.
Then there is the third type. This type does what i first started this e-mail with. This type also happens to be without anything good to contribute so it has the most time. The result is the HATRED!

And yourself ,you are starting a new kind who is analysing the fans, for the betterment I hope. I really hope it is not an extention of just a different form of HATRED?

Well said. Most of this started because of commercialization and so much hype being created around the cricketers by the media. There has been a proliferation of the cricket on TV with so many discarded players providing their own "expert" comments and "analysis" there even someone who has the least understanding of the game becomes involved in providing their own "analysis".
I easily think Dhoni should NOT be made a captain for now.
Firstly because, he is too young and yet to learne some things and
secondly, he himself should not be made so assured of a spot in the team yet as karthik can open and keep, that makes a spot open for a full time batsmen or an extra bowler to come into play which is very important if India is looking to be number 1 in test ranking.
Kumble's Case:
He actually deserved it a long back and never made. It is not as if he lacks leadership or is not a strong personality. Atleast he deserves such a reward, if nothing else, for his service. And he wouldnt mind, this being stop gap.
Laxman's Case:
He was always groomed to be a captain and has done and lot of work so can also be a good prospect. But his personality is a bit softer and he allows people to think that he doesnt have a permanant spot in the team which is causing to come in the way of him becoming the one. None the less at this time, would be a great booster for him, since its australia which is coming up (after pak) and he definetly is a permanant fixture there.
Other Cases:
Definetly Gunguly shouldnt be ruled out since this is only a stop gap. Winning against australia is vital so if it needs a tried and tested one so be it. So he should be considered with an air or forgiveness and a chance to redemtion.

Please dont make captaincy or vice-captaincy a reward. This wrong approach is the cause for most of the ills. To reward a person for hard-work or great achievements give him prize money, other gifts and only if he is capable of leading a greater role, should you consider.

Rewarding someone for his success or achievements is different from thrusting him more responsibilty. Captaincy can be a reward for a vice-captain only if has proved his worth as vice-captain and shos mettle to lead as captain. Not otherwise.

Very true guys. I just said that as a BTW. It is not that Kumble is rewarded but he is probably at this time the next choice which he might relish as if a reward. Its just a by product so as to say.
Yeah you guys are dead right that shouldnt be the sole reason.
Australian Tour is the another most important tour like English tour. Here India should always send the best 14 member side with the experienced and genious minded captain. In the current team, if not Tendulkar then Saurov should lead India. If Selectors are not happy with saurov then Rahul Dravid is the best choice to lead India.
