Sourav Ganguly WAS a great player. Gone are his golden days and most of his shots y'day where either edges or leg byes. It was again funny to see him getting run out. Don't forget the catch which he dropped off Yousuf who ended up making 83 with a SR of 100. Sachin took two wickets but failed with bat. Zaheer khan was very expensive. It is not quit clear that ganguly is playing for his place in the team. Getting out on 30s and 40s and then getting ducks on the following innings is not a sign of GREAT player. Something BCCI Dhoni needs to do in future matches : * Remove Sachin, Zaheer and Ganguly for at least this ODI series. * Give chance to Rohit Sharma and Praveen Kumar. Unless the youngster gets chances how would they establish themselves in the international arena?? * Gambhir and Uthappa should open. If Uthappa or Gambhir fails, Praveen Kumar can open the way he opens for Uttar Pradesh. * Irfan Pathan should bowl his natural swingers rather than the let or off cutters. This would help him in Australia also. * Uthappa should understand his responsibilities and play sensibly long innings.
We need some consistent performers like Symonds and Hayden and no paper tigers like ganguly and tendulkar. Time to try for some

Hey Usman. You wanted Sachin, Zaheer & Sourav removed for this ODI series. Why do u say this? As far as Sachin & Sourav are concerned their current (last 5 innings) form is good enough to retain them in the squad. I believe that the youngsters should be played more on rotation basis till such time that they have had consistency in their performance. Mind you if you throw the youngsters like Rohit and Praveen in the middle just like that, and god forbid if they fail, their morale would receive a huge beating (with the selectors being inconsistent anything can happen). Let them have a couple of series of exposure to big time cricket. And your comments about Irfan Pathan's bowling? A bowler cannot bowl only inswingers or off cutters on the coin every ball. He needs to adapt himself according to the situation. Otherwise he becomes very predictable. If you want Irfan to be a better bowler, please do not criticize him. You cannot judge a player because of one bad day. I wonder would you be OK with your company throwing you out because of one mistake of yours?. When you want a chance to given again and again to prove yourself. Why not the players. If these guys come up with good performance in the subsequent matches, mind you, you will end up biting your own fingers. As far as Uthappa is concerned, you say that he should understand his responsibilities. Well he is just on the way up. He is getting good starts. He needs to concentrate. And also he gets to bat only during the latter

Your comments are harsh but truely fit for great players like Gangu and Tendu. Its high time that these players quit cricket gracefully and be respected always, otherwise few other Ravi Shastris are in the making.

People keep bringing up the number of runs ganguly made this year, but nobody cares how the runs were scored. Most of the games he scored the runs, India lost. Since his return to ODIs, Ganguly has the worst strike rates in the Indian top order. He is the worst fielder and runner BTW. He is not the Same Great Ganguly anymore. He should be rested first..

100% true. I bet you that if Rohit, Badrinath, Praveen Kumar r given the amount of opportunities that Sehwag, Sachin, Ganguly, Agarkar and the grat Ramesh Powar has got, they could be far far more better than these people.

If everybody starts giving suggestions like this, world will be a very chaotic place.
BTW, none of your suggestions hold merit. It'd have been interesting if any one of Gambhir's catches were held and few more wkts would have tumbled.

There's no place for If's and but's in cricket supandi. Let me remind you India is a democratic country and everyone has a right to express his view. Thats what I m doing. Some jealous people r not ready to digest the fact that youngsters won T20 world cup for us and are far more talented than these old horses. The only problem is that they dont get these many opportunities
RE:When will youngsters get chances???

T20 is a different ball game altogether dear Usman. Gambhir was slashing outside the off stump and was dropped twice. On the other hand - i guess you watched the match - Ganguly was freely stroking and sometimes making room to lift the ball over the fielders. The Six is the evidence. Moreover, an opener was out and the other has to stick around. Whenever Sachin was out early, he was trying to hang around. And when Sachin was scoring at the other end, still he was trying to hang around. That's what made these two the best opening pair in this form of the cricket. Abusing these old horses for the sake of abusing and for the sake of attention is definitely not right. The discussion should be healthy and fact oriented. And regarding strike rate, Ganguly in his prime was having a strike rate of around 75 plus and now it is 70. This strike rate is not bad for an opener in 50 over matches for sure. No opener has succeeded in his absence even after repeated chances, that includes Gautam Gambhir too. Yes, there was a slump in Ganguly 3 yrs back & he should have been dropped then itself. Better late than never, he was dropped and dropped for good. He came out winner. Let Sachin and Ganguly combo play for some 2 yrs more on rotation and guide the youngsters. This is good for the youngsters to learn out of these experienced players. As of now it is a nice combination of both experience and youth.

I am sorry I don't mean to offend any Akhter fan here, but the guy is throwing the ball. When he is bowling in 135 range, he seems to be acceptable. But as the speed goes up, he starts throwing. Also, he has a long run up and it's funny to see him struggle to finish the run up. I doubted that long run up is really helping him to generate momentum resulting in speed.
Anyway, it was great to see Ganguly hit Gul for a six. Other then that our beloved Ganguly was barely surviving. Although Gambhir sneaked two from Akhter, he looked great. I think our bats are going to do great in the series..

He is disgrace on Indian cricket. Some people talk about these useless players' (ganguly, sachin) past records rather than their current form. Sachin has never played axcept 1-2 matches in England. He failed miserably against Aussies. No words for Ganguly. But BCCI will still continue to play them looking at their past Laurels. When would our tourists (youngsters) get chances. Rohit Sharma is very good talented and technical player than these useless old horses. Praveen Kumar is a good all rounder. I bet, if these youngsters get the amount of chances what Sachin, Sourav, Zaheer, Agarkar and Ramesh Powar has got, they will definitely emerge out well.

Sachin is the most flamboyant, destructive, dominating and adored player in Indian cricket history. His class and ability in the game are quite overwhelming. He has a solid defence and a marvellous range of shots. He can drive, cut, pull, glide, and loft, off front foot and back He is the most prolific one-day batsman in the history of the game with 15,563 runs in his 399 ODIs to date. He has a world record of 41 centuries in the format at an average of 44.21. He has been also useful with the ball taking 152 wickets at an average of 44.So before u write such disgusting comments about a legend of cricket think again..

Mr Usman Ali,
Who made Sachin and Sourav "Paper Tiger"? Do you think they made over 10000 runs in one day cricket in BOOK CRICKET? I don't know what do you mean by giving chances to youngsters? There are 9 other places in this team isn't it?Do you think all those nine players are performing better than Sachin and Sourav? Not at all. I don't understand why you guys are shouting for youngster why Sachin and Sourav were the best performer in last yr? Again you did mention about Hayden and Symonds. Yes you are right that they are best performers for Australia, and they are not youngsters.. Australians are not shouting like you guys for yonugsters...

Well Sayantan, Sachin and Sourav will retire tomorrow. What would u do then??? Don't u think there should be smooth transition period to nourish this young talent. Tomorrow these youngsters would be asked to bat in conditions (like australia) all of a sudden when sachin/sourav fails, what would they do then?? They would have not got enough exposure to the international arena by then. When u want to continue with these old horses, why the hell do u keep including these young talents in the squad if they r not going to be given any chances. Same thing happened with Badrinath. He was not included in the squad not in the final XI and then got excluded even from XV. Isn't this ridiculous???

Dear Zippy, What about the energy on the field. Entire world knows how Ganguly fields and runs between the wickets. Even our college students runs and fields better than him. Forget his bowling, it's of no use. Mind you, Gangooli dropped Yousuf on 2. If India would have lost y'day, all CREDIT would have gone to Ganguly. Thank God this was not Australia. So far Sachin is concerned, he just got TWO wickets y'day and look at the amount of runs he went in the death overs. If he is really a good bowler, he should have restricted those runs also. Mark my words, Sachin will fail miserably in this series.
To all the people who called Indians a racist and very critical of our Crowd Behavior during the Game against Aussie. Ashish and few others even declared Aussie were too civilized and will not behave the way Indians did.. CHECK THIS OUT..lol
Even before Sri Lanka's cricket series against Australia gets underway later this week, spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan has encountered first sledging remarks from local fans and passers-by on the streets of Adelaide.
"Some people have just asked for autographs and have been nice, but there have been one or two people who have shouted 'chucker' in the street and during the game in Adelaide," he said.
"They are just younger guys, and I don't really pay much attention to it," he was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald.
"I don't care if people say things to me during games, but it is a problem if they are throwing things. I met some of their (CA's) security people and I am happy with what they told me. Hopefully, it will be a good series," he added.
Muralitharan, who requires nine wickets to surpass the Test wickets record held by Shane Warne, admitted to nerves ahead of the series but not on account of safety concerns.
"It is going to be a big challenge, because the wickets are fresh and they are not suited to spin," he said adding that "Australia's batsmen are very good, so it will be difficult."
current pak team is very weak now. no inzy and asif etc and their country is in critical situation. why not BCCI capitalize this situation and try out badrinath, raina and tiwary?? they seemed to be scoring lots of runs these days.. If we give rest to seniors sachin and ganguly in this series, they will not be exhausted for coming important AUS series..
But again..BCCI is BCCI..it never does anything good to cricket..
SRT- Still the best part time bowler for India! Done in by a bad decision by the umpire! Dada- Better improve fielding, dropped Yusuf, who scored 84, bad! Great batting, but running was LOUSY, get it right dada, in Australia(if selected), you cant run like this! Gambhir-2 easy chance on consecutive deliveries, if they were taken,Gambhir's poor ODI form would have continued.Dhoni is prefering you to Sehwag, so you are lucky, but Dhoni cannot bat for you! Dhoni- Bad captaincy during fielding! Good batting!Threw away wicket on a rank bad ball. YUvraj- great batting, but again holing out in the deep.Yuvraj, dont sacrifice wicket, stay till the end! Uthappa-Beaten 4 times by Akhtar. His weaknes is out.Right now Dhoni is shieldig him from the swinging ball, by giving him middle order slot, and he slogs. But if he has to open, he will falter again. Zaheer- Lost again? Bhajji- great bowling! Karthik-great bowling Pathan-What happened? RP Singh-not the same, but bowling in the death is difficult,he bowled well at the start.
