Gilchrist is a cheat
by colonelrajan srinivas on May 09, 2007 09:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Gilchrist is a cheat and so also the Australian Cricket Team. To use a squash ball in the glove for a better grip is unsportsmanlike and unethical and NOT in confirmity with the rules of cricket- a Gentleman's game. If the same was done by Pakistan, India, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka, by this time the ICC would have come down on them like a ton of bricks, disqualified the team and awarded the cup to the Runners up.Three Cheers to ICC and to Gilchrist and the Australian Team.

It's not correct to say he is a cheat. If he knew that he was cheating why he would announce it to the world. As such batsman gloves do provide that softening effect. A squash ball ony adds to the effect. So I don't think it can be considered as cheating at all!! Kudos to Australia for the way they dominated the world cup!!

you are rite gilli is a great player and we have seen lot of times that without waiting for the empires decision he walks out whenever he is out...so its stupid to say him that he is a cheat. and if we are really spaeking about sportsmen ship its better that we praise the australians instead of critisizing them for the way they trashed all the teams around the world.

I dont think he is cheat but in same words i can say Australians are cheaters they have there man Speed at the helm of affairs and he did all the things so that team Aussies gain something.LIke he did favour to Aussies by conducting final in rainy day not on reserve day and if on that Sri lanka got any chance to win the match then he comes out with explanation that final should be 50-50 affair not 20-20.Thats why final is farce

All is said and done about Australian cricket. There are players in Australian team who cheats to win the match remember Pointing appealing for a catch which had hit the ground before reaching his hand. But Alas Gilli has always been a gentleman I remember him getting caught behind and left the grease before the bowler appealed or empire noticed. Our Indian WK was in shock coz he himself was not knowing that he had Gilli.

to me indian cricketers r the greatest cheats in the world.they speak everything is fine before they go to tours to overseas and when they come and say "our pitches to be improved".Now we heard through a newschannels"there is a wide differences between the team members and players."
Only public who pray for their victories whereever they play r the innocent public.I feel feel strongly no one is great cheat/s than our cricket team members.wat is going on there?.more money not passion for win,for glamour not the committment to play for the country dominating in our dressing room quite often.

you are rite murthy.instead of we debating about gilchrist its better to concentrate on whats happening with our cricket team. these ass holes comes in the team only to earn money and once they get that they are not bothered about our pride. this is not gonna change in the near future and i dont think that if this continues india will never ever win the world cup. we can see the results only when players play for country rather than money and glamour.shame for indian players

Its not cheating. Its just like putting some extra rubber on grip with a better texture. It cant be compared with drugs.

i dont think by the strength they posess they dont have any reason to cheat for winning matches.. sometimes some little fuss may happen but they are true professionsals and becoz no one is able to beat them everyone will be trying to search out reasons for their domination. but in real they are a great unit and i love to see them play their outstanding cricket evrytime they are out for the hunt.

Cheats
by Srikanth on May 09, 2007 09:07 AM  Permalink

Australia, you would be reminded, was a place to which the worst criminals were banished and Gilchrist and his ilk are their descendants. At least, he was a honest cheat who admitted his cheating.

When a white does it, its never cheating - if Dhoni had adopted a similar method and managed to smash his way to a record, the entire media and ICC fraternity would be on his case, like nobody's business...

It's not cheating at all. The issue is not white or black. All batsmen put extra grip on the bat for a firmer grip. Rahul dravid wears extra gloves for better grip. If one thinks gilly was cheating, how about Dravid?? The ball in no way helped Gilchrist in getting extra power except help his grip. Please do not make an issue out of a non issue. People who have played competitive cricket would know what I am talking about. Besides had Gilchrist been cheating he would have never revealed that he had the ball in his gloves. Think rationale....

Srilankan crybabies
by Nitin Grover on May 09, 2007 08:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Srilankans are acting as cry babies. They should take pride of their performance in the World Cup; instead they are complaining like kids. They shld accept the fact that they were beaten by a far better team on that day. If they talk about ethics, they should have disallowed Murali from cricket long time back. Also, one cannot take anything away from Gilchrist's knock. It was a studendous one.

Did Gilly cheat.
by Subramanian on May 09, 2007 07:45 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

May not amount to cheating but a definite psychological advantage as he himself showed that to his colleagues at the pavilion after scoring his century. In fact but for his immediate reaction no one in the world would have known this.

by namrat gaonkar on May 09, 2007 08:10 AM  Permalink
No definitely not. What if Gilchrist was out caught & bowled for 47(a chance missed by fernando)..Now that he scored 149 after smashing the bowlers all over the Park, pls do not take away the credit due to the aussies. It is generally seen the sub-continent people have a penchant for crying over spilt milk & are misers when giving the credit to their opponents. The Aussies completely dominated the proceedings & Gilly was the steal-shower.
Further he was generous enough to DISCLOSE it.
Come on guys ,GROW UP & DO NOT CRIB over such petty issues.
